Bravo, wonderful transcription; this instrument is similar to the theorbe in appearance but in sound reflects the beautiful nature of the mandolin timbre. Do you play also Kapsberger and Piccinini music? I think that pieces like Kapsberger's Toccatas or dances would be incredible on your instrument.
Thank you for your comment. It is really appreciated. I know the music of Kapsberger and Piccinini but have not tried it on the Mandoloncello. You gave me a wonderful idea to check if their music can (without to much 'arranging') be played on the Mandoloncello. Thanks!
I think that's the first time I've heard mandocello by itself. This makes me want to play the mandocello, too! The Bach, of course, superb performance! Love the cello suites! Beautiful music for a solo instrument. Have transposed my favorite pieces to play on my mando. The hand position on mandolin fretboard is angled, but I notice that it's much more straight up and more guitar-like. Interesting.
The mandoloncello, an orchestra model No. 1, was made in 1925 by the celebrated Roman luthier Luigi Embergher (1856 - 1943). Greetings, Alex Timmerman.
Played this on the viola years ago - it really leaves you exposed, interms of your ability bow evenly across strings and I guess the same applies to picking... pretty cool to see it played on this instrument. Nice!
Superb musical moment in nature..♪♫

your instrument looks like a Cretan laouto, but is a mandolin right?

By far the most consistently interesting & well-played version I've yet to hear of this Bach gem!
