it sucks that i was never around to hear this kind of music. Im only 15 and im happy im discovering all these bands. To bad ill never hear them live on stage...atleast ive got it on vinyle!
@mechanicojoe - So nice to hear some of the younger generation is discovering and listening to real music! There is hope yet. In the words of Marc Bolan, "Rock On!"
Superb track from Roye and the boys. As previously mentioned, the Tab In The Ocean album is a bonafide prog classic and Remember The Future and this album are bloody good too. The horns on this track always remind me of t.v themes in the 70's. Exceptional stuff.
I love & hate this song. I love the jazzy theme of the song, i.e. the guitar riff, the keyboards and the horns, but I hate the portions about the elephants (no, I don't hate elephants). It's like 2 totally different songs that just don't fit together. I sit here bobbing my head to the groovy sounds, then "elephants are fond of oranges". Reminds me of "Stairway to Heaven" being played at my prom in '79. Slow dancing 2/3 of the way through and then, bang, it's fast. It's like, WTF just happened?
you guys ever heard the album " a tab in the ocean"? an acid trip without the acid. if you can find the album, put your headphones on, crank it up and tell everyone to stay away for about 40-45 minutes
This album flooded the discount racks in the states in the 70's for a while. Never heard of them before and picked up Nelly. She was heavy but it was well worth it! Thanks for posting!
@morpheus1x Remember how many awesome records were found in the discount racks in the 70's? I remember finding Live in the Air Age by Bebop Deluxe, as well as Recycled around that time. Can't believe it's so many years later, and modern music has been reduced to such a shell of its former self. Anywho, cheers, and thanks wormpiano, Corky.
LOL i bought the Bebop deluxe album too! Yes there's been many changes in the music industry but I do enjoy the new technology which gives us instant access to just about artist plus its allowing the young generation exposure to those greats. never dreamt my 10 yo and i could sit down and enjoy Nektar together with the click of a mouse!
Nektar is still recording and touring. Pick up their new live CD "Fortyfied" from their website, nektarsmusic. Just saw them in DC, NY, and Philly twice (one acoustic)...awesome...better than ever!
High on life with this album. Come fly with me.
