  • Lighting one up for sir funk <3

  • Man, I think back to when I walked the street in Cali as a Kid to this joint. Now Im back home in DC...3000 Miles away, but this music takes me back to then. 80's BABY! Logikbomb (DC Producer)

  • @logikorganik ??? This came out 3 years ago. How is that even possible.

  • @zapp10304 The SOUND Brother,,,The Sound, Back then it was Zapp, Roger Trougman, and Others. Come on man, dont steal my joy, just feel the vibes. Peace!

  • @zapp10304 a lot of dam-funk's "new" songs came out in the late 80s. people don't realise how old he actually is haha.

  • I'm going to smoke a big blunt to this RIGHT NOW! Greets from Holland!

  • @MarqRaymond --- Agreement. Although I'd wager all these basslines in this jam are in fact "quantized" to some degree but the hits are just masterfully placed so the groove is tipsy and intentionally unbalanced..tasteful charm.

Flying Lotus does it all the time

  • fuck yeah, slug that beat. so sexy.

  • Reminds me a heap of Yellow Magic Orchestra

  • man this shit is amazing

  • Synthesizer makes for a good rhythm, it almost seems as if the samples were playing backwards

  • One word: AMAZING

I'm thinking Dam-Funk checked out Hiroshima's "One Wish" when he did the last seconds of this song.

  • im about to sample the shyt out of this haha

  • man! this humble cat F*&^*s me UP!

  • kinda boring...

  • @MARANTZamp Cheap, empty and 'easy option' comment from someone clearly unable to offer constructive criticism. And who is obviously the clear minority opinion, which leads us to the conclusion; MARANTZamp loses spectacularly. Now toddle off and make your own music of wide critical acclaim and popularity.. oh sorry, you don't have that capability or talent do you! (Apply this answer to all your helpful, insightful comments). Thanks.

  • Genius!

Can't wait for the Nite Funk full length!

  • Godam this that funky funky shit. Funky and New. Stocktown Cali all day I'm ridin' to this.

  • lol @ people who think this is "off beat" or something...they have no sense of rhythm. this song has a very strong groove.

  • I just so glad that i was born in the 70"s in California with all this FUNK.Where else would you grow up and not listen to these great slaps they make.

Cali sun shine Sac-town Meadowview raised on this.man

  • Respect to my West side fam. LA to the Bay does it big, props to SoCal climate. We listened this sound on the East too: - One Way - Kleeer - SOS Band - BB&Q Band - Sylvers - Midnight Star - Loose Ends (of course) ...etc. Philly represent, 105.3 fm! Dam Funk bringing it back & beyond, sunset sounds...
  • cant forget about 52nd street they had hits too

  • @blackgn82

    Hell yes

  • Quantization is NOT Always NEEDED in Funk, Neo Soul, Jazz And Other milieus of music. It's called "A BOUNCE" You Can't Have a BOUNCE If You Quantize & Over Process Everything. Leave that to the Cookie Cutter Producers & Realize this. There are NO Rules on how to create Music. Listen to the Funkadelic era & tell me if they quantized their Live performances. smh.... I Like This.

  • @MarqRaymond hell naw, matter of fact they don remember have of the funk b/c they was gone, on another planet, where they walked around enjoyed the air...

  • @MarqRaymond Thats why like dilla I dont quantize much if any of my music. It give the music a more human feel. But dont get me wrong its a hard cross to bear keeping accurate time with complex patterns and rythms

  • @MarqRaymond well said Marq!!! its about the rawness perfect sounding stuff isn't always good in fact the best music is usually (neatly sloppy) check out Voices of Black also a young 20 year old duo making funky innovative music. They signed with brooklyn's wolf and lamb

  • @MarqRaymond "People always wanna quantize and make things perfect but... if you listen to Parliament... each dude has their own thing goin on" Marcus Miller, 2001

  • cosmispheric

  • STONESTHROW BITCHES!

  • Dam Funk is a 8o's baby, this sounds like some Paul Hardcastle stuff from 86, holla

  • Hardcastle's productions are much more tight than this!

  • purrrrrple

  • This sounds good, but it makes me sleepy.

  • This noise comes from da future. Yo! check FlyLo,Hudson Mohawke,Theoriginalsasac...they're other brains from Outtaspace...

  • pretty dam good

  • evocates to me late-Maze.

  • I don't comment much, but jesus, to say this is sloppy timing is insane. Its genius timing, as opposed to clicking 1-3 2 -4 in your Fruity Loops program.

  • exactly.

  • Mun0z387 & Roelandvinken.... you don't think he was making the sloppy beat style on purpose?? Please, quit hatin' & go listen to Flying Lotus & ALL his clones. You don't have the feel the FUNK so go dunk your head in the blip hop. I'm cool with this & Dam Funk. Go Dam!!

  • no I meant that it's supposed to be sloppy. I don't agree with this guy at all

  • pffffffffffft

  • You mean the 80's right?

  • Yeah, I was thinkin' bout that, 80's would be more fitting

  • More like 1983 to be exact lol
