There are two ways of playing this song, the way he does or another fill down a string, both ways are right just depends on how you like to play. OK.. Let's get off the pick vs no pick argument, cuz it's LAME! Anthony Jackson plays almost EXCLUSIVELY with a pick, and there is NO denying that man's funk, considering he wrote the bass part on "For The Love Of Money" by the O'Jays. Bernard used his chucking technique, which simulates using a pick to play "Everybody Dance".(check out my videos for a demo on this) The bottom line here is that he is not playing the right feel, leaving out important anticipations and adding notes. End of story.

Thats what I said, sometimes I do use a pick, just for more indie/punk/ska grooves but for soul-jazz- funk you get a better feel when you slide into the notes and not play it like a computer might! slap n tickle.
