Our Solar System roughly 4.5 billion years old, but us humans have existed as a genus for only a few million years! God is not made of any particles , atoms , dark matter and dark energy. Another thing I find troubling about this is that most atheists are well read people, as a whole as a group. Yet "MOST" atheists have not read the Bible or Book of Mormon cover to cover? Also, a lot (probably most) atheists started out in one religion or another and came to atheism when they found religions to be lacking in reason. The bible might be an interesting piece of literature but that is all. The fact that such ancient superstition is still worshiped today is scarey.

Well I am just on here wondering because Hawking didn't really prove anything in my regard. Yes I agree that before the universe was created or before the big bang time did not exist. I know that the act of time is affected by space time but that still explains NOTHING as to how the whole thing started into motion. In his example of the coffee and the proton it was still ultimately triggered by the person making the coffee. If that is so then what triggered the big bang???
I am completely supportive on Hawking's side in this video, and it all makes perfect sense to me, it always has. I'm glad this was uploaded.
However I'm disappointed in the comments I've read from others who are also atheists of some sort... I come from a Christian family so I understand the way believers view the world. I respect them, Hawking respects them. There's no need for the inappropriate insults and profanity, it really does give atheists a bad image and I am ashamed.
I do appreciate Professor Hawking's opinion about the laws of nature and the universe at large. We still got a lot to learn about our selves,and the surrounding. We can not see what lies beyond the Galaxy and yet we are making judgement about it. Not so long ago, when our technology was not as advanced as it is we knew that there were nine planets in the solar system, but as technology advance, we are discovering more stars. Who knows what we will see next.

I was watching a movie called Down the rabbit hole and they discussed the fact that electrons can appear and of course disappear without leaving a trail. I then pondered that the same theory may be true about the universe and or multiverse. I am not a physicist nor scientist,I only dabble. It just seems to make sense. Why not? It's just electrical activity in the brain and when that activity dies, so does conciousness. There's nothing to suggest that conciousness is separate from the physical grey matter of the brain. Do some research into the evolution of the brain if you want to know about origins.

Also, a lot (probably most) atheists started out in one religion or another and came to atheism when they found religions to be lacking in reason. Well I am just on here wondering because Hawking didn't really prove anything in my regard. Yes I agree that before the universe was created or before the big bang time did not exist. I know that the act of time is affected by space time but that still explains NOTHING as to how the whole thing started into motion. I am completely supportive on Hawking's side in this video, and it all makes perfect sense to me, it always has. I'm glad this was uploaded.
However I'm disappointed in the comments I've read from others who are also atheists of some sort... I come from a Christian family so I understand the way believers view the world. There are a lot of indications that Baal and Yahweh were sons of El (or Elyon). In Ugarit El was called the king of the gods.
That surely was told before the bible was written. It would match with a lot of myths of that time where people had a lot of gods. Wotan - Wodan - Odin or Zeus - Teutates - Thor - Donar. Just different languages.
But they had no scriptures about them. That started with the bible.

I was watching a movie called Down the rabbit hole and they discussed the fact that electrons can appear and of course disappear without leaving a trail. I then pondered that the same theory may be true about the universe and or multiverse. I am not a physicist nor scientist,I only dabble. It just seems to make sense. Why not? I did not 'steal' this idea it just came to me about 7 or 8 yrs ago. I think Hawkings theory is right on. Really!

@pooldude888 OK, first of all - carbon dating is not used to date things over around 10'000 years old. There are hundreds of dating methods used for different time periods, so STOP saying that carbon dating is the only one used.
There's only one thing I need to say to discount the Flood theory - the pyramids were built about 100 years after it was said to have happened. The descendants of 5 or so people could not have multiplied enough to build such structures, and would not be worshipping Ra.

You could still ask the question of,who put the initial black hole there in a timeless nothingness ? if you speak of god then you are speaking of something/someone that doesn't require any time flow or force of nature as god would be the creator.

Or the scientists at CERN? Your major flaw here is that the science in this video and the science in Steven's book has been conducted by a large number of different people to which he has collated together.

The bible is 100% accurate. i believe in gOD AND JESUS and ive seen his work in my church. My fav subject is science. i plan to mayor in the science field. its not Gods fault that stupid old catholic men mis interpret the bible like that.Ive always been a sceptic/incredulant yet i can never leave the faith.
