The ridiculous plot not withstanding, this movie had all kinds of fails. Enough lens flares to make a heroin addict dizzy, Very inconsistent set design (the bridge was beyond state-of-the-art, but the engine room looked like a 19th century steamship)and a lot of other things not consistent with Trek.would Roddenberry have approved this?
I have no interest in another JJ abomination. He showed absolutely no understanding of what Star Trek is about, and perhaps even worse, showed he has little understanding of how to hang a story together (though, the writers are likely more to blame for that).
My guess is not that because it's an alternate timeline, but to make the 23rd century look like what the 23rd century might look like from the eyes of someone from the 21st century, not the 1960's.
...and they felt like they absolutely -HAD- to change the way the original TOS Enterprise looked because........?
For me, the way I see it, it was okay for the producers to make a totally different Enterprise (NX-01) for Captain Archer's day because it preceded Kirk's time.
But now we get this!? I mean, my God... the warp nacelles look even bigger than the friggin' deflector section!
Well, regardless of my opinion, still, you made a great vid.
@rkmugen ... because it's not 1966 and it would suck if the ship looked EXACTLY like it used to with marble lights and cardboard sets for interiors, etc. Movie audiences are more sophisticated today PLUS this movie is not catering to nerds with tunnel vision and a lack of creative spark. Go watch The Return of the Archons if you don't get my point.
In all honesty, I had forgotten that I commented on this video. But you should know that I have since retracted my stance on it and have also since changed my opinion on the "alternate 1701". In fact, I proudly display the XI Enterprise (by Playmates) atop my PC tower.
And yes, even then, when I first made that comment, I already knew that this Trek wasn't going to cater much to the established fan base. In the end, no harm done.
@luigi19987 No totally. I only hope that the next time around, he gives the other characters an almost equal amount of face-time... more specifically, Scotty and Chekhov. Bones... well, he needs to be put in more humorous situations.

Why didnt JJ Ambrams used the SFX from the remastered Trek and Star Trek New Voyages(now Star Trek Phase two)?
This make be a great movie and great SFX but I kind of fell like this will be in some ways like the Lost in Space movie.
A different verison of a classic show!
