@matrox999 Its funny you should mention "writing this down. Before TAB was available everywhere, guitar magazines used to advertise audio cassettes that tell you where to put your fingers. Since it was only audio there was no visual reference. The cassette came with blank staff paper so you could write down the notes as you listened. These were extremely popular. It was a very effective way to learn solos to tunes. Things are much easier now. -Peace
This is wonderful. Wonder if this gentleman does the whole song out? There are some cool riff within the song, too. Still, great job. Now if he would only do the beginning to The End by the Doors!
@LAPoloPlayer : "This gentleman" has read your comment. You have an interesting way of communicating what I assume is a compliment and a request for a video on THE END. If I am correct please respond and I will see what I can do about making an instructional video of the beginning of THE END for you.
one of my favorite songs ever. i can play the rythem fine but had to come to your video for advice on the intro, still tryin to get it down but youve helped alot, THANKS!
Good job i researched a few intros 2 this song n gotta say smooth dude real smooth on the changez thx for the lession cant wait 2 play it live jam on dude
Great job Ben Stiller! If you never make it as a guitarist you can always moonlight as a celebrity impersonator! It will at least get you into some clubs....and some girls! Thanks for the lesson. Will rate.
A+++! Really appreciated the detailed intro explication of this classic Hollies hit (which I first heard on Canadian radio station CKLW way back in '72, as a 12 y.o. ;-) Keep up the good work.
@MrQuagmire211 My electric guitar is a Gretch, Duo Jet. It does kind of resemble a Les Paul though. Sounds like you've got a nice axe. Thanx for your comments.
dude is that a gibson les pual i think i have the same guitar exept the fender is black and so is the outline and nice lesson bye the way keep teaching bro
Probably by far one of the best song tutorials. i learned it in a jiff thanks to you. please do the world a favor and keep making tutorial videos! Thanks a bunch!
i suffer from obsessive compulsive riff disorder--once i learn a classic riff i play it incessantly to the exclusion of all other pieces--the better i get at it the LOUDER i play it--that loud volume only stokes the fires of my disorder until all any of my neighors within a four block radius can hear is a bitchin' classic rock riff playing over and over again--soon enough through heinously inappropriate pedals--perhaps big muffed and slapped back, swirling in a leslie--sorry.
THANK BRO - just looking at the TAB can drive you crazy....You did a great job breaking it down into 3 pcs, and you have an nice calm teaching style. I have an Mesa F50, which sounds just like what you've got in the 10" speaker. :)
@scottybee33 : I learned to play guitar before TAB for songs was readily available. I love TAB and use it frequently but I think having an instructor TELL you where to put your fingers is equally helpful to learn key tunes. Rock and Roll, ROCK N ROLL!!
GREAT! I have a hard time finding lessons that teach like you, string by string and fret by fret! Thanks alot! If you ever do one on Jefferson Airplane "Today" please post it, I've subcribed!
@yopoza I'll try to get it on there. Its built around an open E chord and hammering on the 4th or 5th strings. See if you can figure it out by listening to the recording. If you do that and still can't get it then let me know. Best wishes!
@mongo5888: Right on, dude. It is an incredible song that brings up a lot of memories for me as well. Incredible intro, and great rockin' beat, with some awesome lyrics. Thanks for your kind words
