  • Nice job!!! :-D

  • I love the new show.. Haven't seen the old thou..

  • Good job. I was curious about how you were going to make the new credits match the minute-long old song. Nice job with mixing in the old intro.

  • I agree using the old version of the song would have been more suitable and pay tribute to all those who were in the original

  • Brilliant!

  • I like this ! stick to the original and it fits the new series just well.

  • "Book 'em, Dano!!!"

  • cool! I especially like the transition at 0:52 showing the speeding police car.

  • this is fab, shud be used for the show instead of the other crap!

    its alot like the original!

    gr8 stuff!

  • You did an excellent job!!! Much better and longer than the original (new) one and a good blend with the original series credits.Fair play to you!

  • You forgot to show the black Mercury drive by. THAT is one of the most memorable parts in the original intro. FAIL

  • Muy bien hecho.......excelente...aunque la nueva version de la serie no me convence esta intro esta bestial¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • THIS is the opening they should've used! It's a full minute like the original, and even has similar shots! The new version is great (at least they stayed true to the theme). It's just a little too short is all!

  • Great Job! This one is WAY better.....CBS should have thrown it open to the public to see who could come up with the best version instead of just accepting what's been churned internally.

  • S W E E T !!!!!

  • Who is that cute woman @ .17 and .25

  • Nicely done rebuild. I'm impressed.

  • The Ventures did the original opening theme to 5-0...

  • Just Great! Your theme opening nicely blends the old and new shots together which the new producers lost sight of. What a great nod to TOS and kicking off a new and more modern cast. Older viewers feel the nostalgia, newer viewers don't mind because it all hawaii. The new show even shortened the theme song to 30 secs (so they can fit another 30 sec commercial). The greatest TV theme song ever. Just wrong.

  • This is the best opener by far! I went back to look at the original and then looked at the new one. You did a better job than CBS!

  • You should submit this vid to CBS maybe they'll use it for the opening intro and that means KA CHING for you :)

  • Really?!

  • Very impressive!! Love the mix! :)

  • This made my day! You're an artist!

  • I have to say THIS is the opening that CBS NEEDS to use ! wow this captures the flavor of the show's legacy and the excitement of the new series. Good work ! Thanks for your time in producing this !

  • Very nicely done.

The half minute version by CBS leaves many things to be desired. The music is too "MTV" and the characters don't have the same relationships as the original. Yes you can argue that its not a remake but the relationships is what made the show. Steve McGarrett was respected by Danno and I don't recall any show where they fought it out as they did in the season opener in 2010. Some of the action scenes are so much processed by sound and video effects that it seems more like ...

  • a movie than a TV show. And back to the music / opening scene; the original was organic sounding and was beautiful; without the rock'n'roll guitar of the new version. The long original featured so many shots of Hawaii that me as a child in the middle east got a good look at the landscape that when I actually went to Hawaii I remembered those shots. The new one seems to be for attention deficit kids who would flip the channel if it was too long.

    Great work on this video!

  • What happened to the Mustang 5.0? Now them Haoles are driving a govt motors POS camaro.

  • @snakesinmypants The featured autos are now all from General Motors. Whether or not they are "professional grade" is to the beholder's judgment.

This year is the last hurrah for the Mercury brand; "Rest In Peace" to a great part of America's automotive heritage.

(BTW: RIP to Saturn and Pontiac also.)

  • Definitely a better version than the one they actually use for 5-O 2.0.

  • not enough local boys on the new five-o. Not a very good representation.

  • Sweet remix, dude. CBS should use yours.

  • I like how the new & old are interspersed with each other.

  • This should be the show's opening. Brilliant work.

  • This is great work! If only CBS and the producers of the new show hadn't felt the need to "update" the music as well as the characters (and shorten it by a third as well!). Thanks for making and sharing this.

  • This is the way it should be. Great job.

  • I wonder if the new version of the Hawaii Five 0 theme song will hit the charts? Probably not because of today's generation; but than again......

  • This should be he new theme song. Which one did they use for the opener?

  • @officialhillzandgabz The revised one.

  • @officialhillzandgabz

In germany this is the opening for the show. o_O

  • This is better than the one they have. They didn't do a very good job with the one now. They should use yours!

  • Yeah!!!! I love this opening...

  • leave the old one out of the new garbage

  • @iona1965 @iona1965 This is not the official opening of the new show. It is a remix of the old and new that I made months ago.

  • what a friggin joke !!!! they could not come up with their own theme song they hae to steal the old one from 1968 and just change the names!!

    LOOOOOSERS!!!

  • @iona1965 This is not the official opening of the new show. It is a remix of the old and new that I made months ago.

  • Great job! That's what I'm talking about...

  • I like it! Much better than the one they are using. Great job.

  • @MasTequila1000 I think the new one is just fine.

  • @DS9Sisko Agreed, the current theme for the show is perfect.

  • @MasTequila1000

    Fantastic!

    its look so timeless..:-)

    And better as the newest..?

  • WOWWWWWWWW!!!! The best of both worlds!!! CBS needs to sit up and take notice!!!!

  • sucks, bring back the original and at least get people who look like steve, danny, and chin.

  • what is the instrument that sounds like a spinning of a roulette wheel? I've never heard that sound before.

  • @msmiche1000 vibraslap. for real.

  • Oh Gosh I AGREE!!!!!!!

  • I like this one much better that the one they did for the show, USE THIS ONE.

  • Fan-Freekin-Tastic...I remember running to the TV everytime I heard that start as a kid...

  • This is better than the one they are currently going to use. They should use this one!

  • Dude! You should be working as an editor on the new show...!

  • espero que en venezuela pasen la serie, debe ser buena y hay que compararla con la serie de los años 70.saludos

  • Very Good, this should be the opening, take a bow and send this to CBS.

  • Fantástica abertura. Espero que seja esta que abra a série. Aguardo com ansiedade esta série no Brasil. WOW

  • the best one!

  • That would be cool if they found the same Hawaiian boy & girl who turn tward the camera at 0:24 as they are today in the opening!

  • Please get The Ventures to do this theme song. They are the greatest instrumental group and did the original.

  • Comment removed

  • This version is WAY better looking and sounding. Damn good job. I too agree that the new H50 looks like it is going to focus on the "cool factor" of the actors and their huge egos rather than on the plot and turn this into something unrecognizably ridiculous. I pray I am wrong but Danno is no Danno.

  • I like it. A pretty nice mix of the old and the new. I'm gonna give the show a chance.

  • Very good! Excellent combination of old and new! Thank you.

  • Veeerrrryyyyy nice! I love the transition from the 60's blue dome light to the light on the 2010 Hawaii police car! I have to agree, this (or something damn close to it) is what they should use.

  • Better! Much BETTER! Stop fucking with perfection CBS! For real!

  • Perfection! They should use this one. 5 stars!!!

  • Much better than that featured in the updated show.

Gives back the dynamism and exciting version of the theme tune.

  • Great cut of new footage with classic and what is probably the best TV show theme music ever done. Glad to hear that they are now going to use an updated, but mostly true to the original, music theme that was recently recorded. As they director said on the video on Youtube, "we didn't want to mess with such a great piece of music" or something to that effect. Anyway, glad to hear that decision was made. I will definitely be watching Hawaii Five O this season. I was a loyal viewer 68-80.

  • @cwhistorian My other version is better.

  • When will Tv execs get that theme songs attract people to a show.

I usu to just watch a show cause of the theme and 30 seconds is to slow for a tv theme.

  • the original theme music is WAAAY cooler than the washed out newer version

  • THIS IS FUCKING AWESOME

  • Thank you all for posting the links that they are redoing the music back to the original version! I never trust what someone "heard" on the internet and you guys really came through! If I wasn't pysched about the H5-0 reboot before, I'm over the moon now!

  • Good news: Just two days ago they announced they changed it back to the original. look up "rebooting hawaii five-0"

Bad news: It will still be 30 seconds long.

  • @zardcat1111 Can you post a direct link? I assume you mean the music...

  • @DS9Sisko As far as the music goes just do a search on youtube "rebooting hawaii five-0" and give me an email address so I can send you an article that confirms they got rid of the rock theme for the original.

  • This can work, only thing is reshoot all the "classic" scenes from the original so all the picture quality is consistent throughout the intro.

  • @zardcat1111 They more or less did that with the "new" opening. Somehow I think you believe THIS is the new opening for Hawaii Five-); it is not, as it says in the tiles and descrption. If you are talking about my mashup, it is a combination of the the old scenes and some newish footage. My other version (The Funky Fresh Remix is better than this one.)

  • @DS9Sisko I can't provide a link via youtube (doesn't allow me). give me your email address so i can send you the link of the article confirming this.

  • this is SUPERIOR to the new version- and I love how you spliced in more original clips from the series

  • Thanks. It's fantastic. I really love the Hawaii Five-0 theme song, so memorable and iconic. I also look forward to watching this new show with an amazing and talented young cast.

  • The new FIVE O Cast & writers are a horrid abomination! Cast looks like teenage waifs; air headed & anorexic. They've turned the greatest show ever into an Mtv style classless & weak half ass comedy. A sick joke & slap in the face of Jack Lord's great legacy... God rest his soul!

  • @JOEtheeDRUMMER RE; new Hawaii 5-0 I agree...Lets just say I have a bad feeling about this........

  • @JOEtheeDRUMMER Actually, as a fan of the old show when it originally aired, I love the new update.

  • I LOVE the way you edited this! The old music totally blows away the tinny, weak-ass new stuff (what's with the electronic drums? Lame!). Excellent merging of old opening and new. Loved it! I'm such a fan of the original show I'm afraid I'm not going to like the new one (who else could possibly be McGarrett except Jack Lord?), but because the people of Hawaii want so much for this new show to succeed, I'm going to give it a try. Help the ratings! Create jobs for Hawaii! :-)

  • Superb, fantastic and awesome. Hawaii Five-0 theme song is so memorable and unforgettable. It's always in my head.

  • Great

  • YES!!!! You did it! This is WAY better than the new opening for this 2010 show.

  • Winner Winner Chicken Dinner!!!!!!

  • Whoever did this needs to be in Hollywood now!!!! Updated but also a blast from the past!!!! PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @kentuckyhottub My other version of this is better.

  • Someone needs to make sure CBS seriously uses this as the opening for the show. Granted it may be a bit long for today's need to keep opening credits short to make more money for commercials but without this they may not get as many viewers thus less $ from advertisers.

At least run this opening for the pilot show and for any 2 hour shows they may have in the future like the original series did.

  • @PWS998 My other version of this is better.

  • For real, you need to submit this to the producers as the regular show opening titles. The only thing I would suggest (loose suggestion) is the shot you bring up McGarret. I would time that with the original Jack Lord slate. When they had the crashing shot on JL and he turned to the camera--that was classic. If you could time that with the new stuff, you might get an Emmy nod. Excellent Editing!!!

  • @robinsonr My other version is better.

  • I absolutely LOVE this opening. I sure hope they use this ! It integrates the old and new perfectly !

  • @kahikokeiki my other version is better

  • My other version of this is MUCH better.

  • This opening sequence is great. I loved the way the old and new were fused together. Although make a good attempt, no one could do that defiant turn like

    Jack Lord.

  • @aaronemara My other version of this is better.

  • EXCELLENT!!!! This is what the opening of the new series needs to look like! This is what I prayed it would look like! PERFECT! You have taken what needed to be and made it a reality. The only imperfection in your opening sequence is that it won't become THE opening sequence, and that's a shame.

Sadly, what is going to run is a clumsy remix of Mort Stevens iconic theme. A piece of music that relies so heavily on great percussion has apparently been recorded with a 2 year old on the drums.

  • @badwx My other version of this is better.

  • Holy F-Balls! That was good! Excellent blending of the old and the new!

  • @1965jung My other version of this is better.

  • As a fan of the original show, I much prefer this intro to the new mix that CBS has done. THIS is a theme worthy of the show! Well done! : )

  • @chloeemily My other version of this is better.

  • This is a cool integration of the old and new series, especially since the opening for the 2010 version is so short. Nice to see you included the kid (Mel Kinney) and the late Elizabeth Logue.

  • @generatorx My other version of this is better.

  • Fantastic and awesome theme song. I'm looking forward to watch the talented and amazing cast on Hawaii Five-O this fall on CBS.

  • @Radazzle8 My other version of this is better.

  • Hawaii Five-O 2010 Opening Credits w/ Classic Theme Music

  • great combination of old and new, looks great

  • The opening is good and compliments the original series. I just have one comment at this time. Why does Hollywood have so much trouble finding a handsome actor to play McGarrett? Granted, no one can fill Jack Lord's shows as far as face and hair, but can't they find a handsome actor to play McGarrett. This guy at the start (the memorable turn of the balcony) may be handsome by today's generation but not certainly not my generation.

  • @DangerouslyYours Your generation's time has passed. Time to get on board with the new one, or go away.

  • Fantastic work. I liked it.

  • @prestonlewis My other version of this is better.

  • Very good mix of the old and new. I don't like the new mix of the music, sounds like they just took a bad MIDI of the theme song and played it through an 8-bit Soundblaster Pro. The drums and the horns are the driving theme of the original but in the new music they've managed to neuter them both and make the whole thing into a buzzy beige sounding blah.

  • Now THIS is BRILLIANT! Kudos Kimo Borther! Yes, CBS should use this if not for the opening sequence then for fans to send in versions for a closing sequence which would bring out great imagination like THIS!

As an original series fan I've sent a note to CBS asking them to cameo an appearance by Hong Kong's Gift to Hollywood, Ka-Sheng (Nancy Kwan) who was McGarett's (Jack Lord's) love interest in the debut movie 'Cocoon" in 1968. This video is in the spirit of the orginal. Mahalo, Brudda!

  • @HW50BKM Thank you very much! But you should see the OTHER one I did, which is much better! LOL

YouTube won't let me post the link but it's the Hawaii Five-O Old School Funky Remix.

  • @HW50BKM great combination of old and new, looks great

  • @HW50BKM They better use this one or it will mean failure for the show.

  • @PWS998 My other version of this is better.

  • If the producers of the new series are smart, they'll pay you a fee, and use this as their credits. A huge improvement on what they have.

  • @Leviathan0999 My other version of this is better.

  • Oh, how I wish the producers would use your version for the new show. Even thought the verision is likeable, yours is EXCELLENT, especially with the original theme. Keep up the good work.

  • @pacetti07 My other version of this is better.

  • I REALLY like YOUR edit! It's far better than th new 2010 show open. Yes, it's longer, but i don;t care. the music is iconic as are some of the images. YOU RULE!

  • @ExJetCityWoman My other version of this is better.

  • HA! Looks like were both thinking the same thing. Classic score, new video, stretch it back out to 1 minute: Awesome! Take a look at my version. You'll like it.

  • Could be a good show. Wonder what the critics are going to say about it

  • The New Hawaii Five 0 Intro

  • Great job. You captured the essence of the original, while connecting it with the new.

  • @dwalex97209 My other version of this is better.

  • how cool is that :D

  • Amazing!!! Thank you!

  • sorry i missed it my friend......you rule. you might have a second career in editing/hollywood....you nailed it! you mixed old with new almost perfectly////and made sure to include the smiling/drunk/plumber in the hula dance original! lol!-----------------BRAVO!!!!!!!!!

  • @rocketman6464 LOL, thank you

  • If CBS is bringing "Five-O" back... I'd like to see them come up with new versions of "Cannon," "Mission Impossible," and "Mannix."

  • One last thing, guys... even though he's long gone from the earth, I don't think it's too much to put something like this at the end of the sequence with the police light: "Based on the original series by Leonard Freeman."

  • hellacious job on the intro--they kept enough of the old mixed with new,,,,,,and they kept the smiling plumber in the hula dance part...lmao!!!

  • @rocketman6464 Actually this is MY remix of the Hawaii Five-O theme and new opening credits with the old footage, as I said in the intro. ColliderVideos and CBS's YouTube page has the actual, official new opening.

  • @DS9Sisko Kudos for putting up this footage. Where I am concerned, YOUR rendition here is the "Hawaii Five-O"(2010) theme and open sequence OF RECORD!

  • I love the Hawaii Five-O theme song, with a brilliant and energetic young cast.

  • And the original music, which is still the better of the 2.

  • I like the way this mixes the classic old Hawaii footage with the new. :)

  • I always liked this theme song. Seems to be the original opening just the actors are different. Hope the new show is successful, but I think for people that remember theoriginal series. It was on for years the original will be hard to replace..

  • @Glendale41 Compare what I did to the original opening and the remake (look to the right column at COlliderVideos and at the CBS version). As I plainly stated in the description, this is a REMIX of the old footage and the new footage with the classic theme song.

  • BRILLIANT Mix!!!! It really meshes both together very nicely! Although I like the Original music better and it would actually work for the new show, the background scenery should definitely be updated. Waikiki no longer looks the way it did when Jack Lord was around.

  • I wish CBS would use this. This reboot might actually work for me then. Good job.

  • EXCELLENT! CBS should use THIS, but I suppose they can't and won't; it's already taking up a potential 30-seconds of money making commercial time.

    NICE JOB!

  • @msk7046 What's another 30 seconds?

F--K YOU, TV exec's, for sacrificing good content(even theme music) on the altar of profit! You guys look and sound like a couple of sports team owners here in Buffalo who don't care about the product they put out as long as they fill their f--king pockets!

  • I like this - it works really well! Great job!

  • Is there a way you can send this version to the creators of the new show. Way better a litle bit of old school mix with the new school.

  • This is WAY BETTER than the 2010 opening. Good job man . . . !!!

  • HAHA I LOVE THE REMIX!!!

  • 100 times better than the shit intro for 2010 fall season. CBS should take lessons from you.

  • Very cool! Jack Lord's hair stylist deserves a star

on the Walk of Fame, too! : ) Thanks for the remix!
