Was this really shot in 720p? It looks like it's in 20fps... But the 500d shoots 30fps in 720p... It's very nice quality, but quite jerky.

WOW!!! And I bought this camera for my wife thinking it'll be great for photography. I had no idea it was this good for videos too. Cameras have come a long way with video mode. For the money I paid for it I saved on buying the so called HD camcorders at the same price. I'm gonna mess with my wife's camera to see what else it does. She knows more about it than I do. I just use my video camera usually.

how did you get it to film so good at night? when i use my cam it doesent focus by itself i have to focus it is that how its supposed to be?

@The1pballer Yes that's how it is, there is no auto focus in video mode. As for the night footage, you can turn down the contrast setting on the camera's menu giving you a little brighter picture at night. just a lil FYI.

I think dslr are th best for videos. You could change the lenses and control the manual focus a lot easier.

The $150 more than xsi is worth the investment, consider $150 only get you pocker hd camcorder which gave you very choppy and poor low light video. For a camcorder can perform better video is is usually about or more than t1i cost. of cource those can ez zoom and auto focus but with the right setting is hard for most pro sumer camcorder to beat dslr with the good lens video quality.

if there is something could replace the video function, mayb one 450D and a camcorder for video mode. if out of the budget, i guess 500D would be my choice

if video is more important do you get the Sanyo HD2000, if picture is but still want hd video get panasonic fz35, or canon sx20, canon sx1 is good but is $500 price tag, but does support 1080p video, picture is so so.

If this is using a T1i --- please note that you don't hear the LOUD zoom noise. As you record and use the zoom function --- it makes a really nasty "zhee zhee" sound. If your going to lay sound over your video -- thats fine but if you recording and just want to replay without special music, etc.....be careful of the zooming IN-OUT noise. Sounds bad when replaying.

I have the 500D - mainly the 1080p was the deal maker.

It also has higher MP's and CMOS censor taken from the 50D.

But the Nikon has a swivel screen but 1/3 the quality (200k vs 900k) but 11AF points versus 9 on the Canon.

But the speed is very impressive with the Canon - and cheaper too.

they're relatively the same price for me. like a 40 dollar difference. the focus speed of the nikon really pisses me off sometimes when i was trying it out. i don't know. this video really made me want to get the canon
