I find transvestites disgusting because female clothes are designed for females - they accentuate the womanly lines, show the woman's advantages - they're strongly sexual. And since I don't find men sexually attractive, don't expect me to like men wearing such clothes, not because "it's worn by women, therefore it can't be worn by men."

It wasn't invented by the homosexuals to defend themselves, it is a word that is assigned to refer to the common fear or disgust of homosexuality. If you find it disgusting for a man to dress like a woman, odds are it is in fact homophobia. You can say homophobia doesn't exist, but then you'd just be feebly attempting to justify your own absurd homophobic beliefs. And not very well, I might add. Of course homophobia exists.

However the word "phobia" has nothing to do with disgust, it's strictly about fear, other phobias don't show signs of disgust as well. @stfwho Actually, I recently read something that made sense. in the days the abrahamic religons where formed there where no contraceptives. And homosexual sex is proven to be much more sensitive to STD's than heterosexual sex. It is not hard to equate that with a feeling God hates homosexuals and a sense of danger surrounding homosexuality. So in that sense homophobia, especially in religion developed as part of survival instinct, making it essentially a now redundant socio-evolutionary trait.
