If you put a guitar in the hands of Stephen King or someone else who is creative but can't play guitar there would come sounds like this out of it.

Califorication, is undoubtably The Red Hot Chili Peppers' most personal album to date containing some of the most emotionally and psychologically deep tracks they've ever recorded. But I still consider By The Way musically their best work to date.
It is very similar to Slane version, but the solos...hm...show the lack of fantasy. John only practiced, how to make the most effective and beauty-sounded Scar Tissue song. Fortunately he found it in clear and simple solo parts.
it does have it sound, and this has come from a reputable source, it sounds a bit weak at times but this may be true as JF said after he got back into the chilis he had no strength in his fingers from his years of drug abuse.
That is true but keep in mind that John's definition of his inability to play is probably a lot different than what a normal person, or even an average guitar player, might think. He was phenomenally good during BSSM, so I suppose comparatively he probably had lost a lot of his strength, but he was still a very capable player during the recording of Californication.
This is definitely John playing. Upon rejoining the chili's John hadn't touched a guitar in like 6 years, so obv he's gonna be rusty. He's said in interviews that californication is his favorite album coz he's playing the absolute best he could at that time, but you can tell in his phrasing that it's him, it's very much his style when he solo's. Also, I think since rejoining, John has focused on emotion over technique, which is quite clear here.

He was doing that for the interview more than likely. You can hear how out of tune his guitar is in that interview. He was pretty much just painting and doing alot of herion and coke at that point. All but like 2 tracks from Niandra and Smile were all recorded before he left the Chili Peppers in 92'.
its probably him because this user is legit. It sounds rough because it's probably him coming up with the stuff on the fly or just doing a quick runthrough to have the progressions recorded. (Sometimes people do that so they don't forget)
I'm not going to say its not him or say the playing is because he just got off of drugs yada yada yada... but because its a DEMO. Not all demo's sound like unmixed or unmastered versions of the songs you dingbats!

Anthony bought him the 62 Stratocaster when John rejoined the band, and I assume he probably bought some other guitars in order to record the album. I'm not sure when he bought the White Falcon, or whether it survived from before, but he had it when they were writing the song Californication, at least.

Califorication, is undoubtably The Red Hot Chili Peppers' most personal album to date containing some of the most emotionally and psychologically deep tracks they've ever recorded. But I still consider By The Way musically their best work to date.

It is very similar to Slane version, but the solos...hm...show the lack of fantasy. John only practiced, how to make the most effective and beauty-sounded Scar Tissue song. Fortunately he found it in clear and simple solo parts.

it does have it sound, and this has come from a reputable source, it sounds a bit weak at times but this may be true as JF said after he got back into the chilis he had no strength in his fingers from his years of drug abuse.

That is true but keep in mind that John's definition of his inability to play is probably a lot different than what a normal person, or even an average guitar player, might think. He was phenomenally good during BSSM, so I suppose comparatively he probably had lost a lot of his strength, but he was still a very capable player during the recording of Californication.

according to many documentaries of this time his playing was lacking alot due to his drug use, not playing, etc.
but i agree his skills are far more advanced than most guitarists...but still after years of drugs and everything...

It's a rough foundation of what eventually became Scar Tissue. You can tell Johnny is obviously messing around at times when playing sections of it.

It must be a fan of his who is very much influenced by him and has decided to do the lamest thing on earth (create the supposed demo).
It's my opinion.

that doesn't even sound like johns style and the musical ability of that section is lacking heavily..my opinion though

This is definitely John playing. Upon rejoining the chili's John hadn't touched a guitar in like 6 years, so obv he's gonna be rusty. He's said in interviews that californication is his favorite album coz he's playing the absolute best he could at that time, but you can tell in his phrasing that it's him, it's very much his style when he solo's. Also, I think since rejoining, John has focused on emotion over technique, which is quite clear here.

thats not true. john played guitar when he was in the 6 years that he was away from the chilis. he obviously wasn't on the top of his game. but there are videos of him playing guitar and talking about being away from the chilis. look up john frusciante drug interview part 1, 2, 3...

He was doing that for the interview more than likely. You can hear how out of tune his guitar is in that interview. He was pretty much just painting and doing alot of herion and coke at that point. All but like 2 tracks from Niandra and Smile were all recorded before he left the Chili Peppers in 92'.

its probably him because this user is legit. It sounds rough because it's probably him coming up with the stuff on the fly or just doing a quick runthrough to have the progressions recorded. (Sometimes people do that so they don't forget)
I'm not going to say its not him or say the playing is because he just got off of drugs yada yada yada... but because its a DEMO. Not all demo's sound like unmixed or unmastered versions of the songs you dingbats!

for those who say that it's not john playing, just remember, he hadn't played for quite a while before californication, so it took some time for him to get his chops back. i'd say he's cutting his teeth on this one.

Anthony bought him the 62 Stratocaster when John rejoined the band, and I assume he probably bought some other guitars in order to record the album. I'm not sure when he bought the White Falcon, or whether it survived from before, but he had it when they were writing the song Californication, at least.

Haaaaa this is not john frusciante... ive been playing guitar for 6 years and those little fills are not the kinda of fills someone whose been playing guitar for 20 years makes. Its sounds like someones making it sound as though they are thinking of things up on the spot when theyre blatently not.

Yes it's him, it's a raugh demo, maybe he was tired too... John's pedal set is all earable here (and he has quite a unique one). It's not because it's your god that he can't do bad stuff sometimes, this piece is probably only the idea of the song..

Doesnt sound like his guitar at all, doesnt sound like any expensive amp that he would have. Just doesnt sound like him. The other scar tissue thing on youtube called scar tissue (instrumental excerpt), is also a fake because its just a backing track with some other guy singing on top, since ive got the backing track and the same guy is on it, which just leaves this one and its a bit odd that there arent any other just guitar recordings like this.

This sounds alot like Smile, actually. Its not to far off to be a rough demo by a rusty john, either. This is coming from a John Frusciante and Chili Pepper devote aswell (I have almost everything ever recorded by either.)
