  • I squat near 220 kilos and I don't even think I could get it off the rack, let alone go near parallel. It's not a full squat, it is technically a squat though. It's understandable that he is receiving so many distasteful comments but lets be brutally honest; that is one EPIC feet that guy just did, and although it may not be to everyone's liking it's a squat. Powerlifters lift for power, that's why they go through the full range of motion. Weightlifters just want weight. More on the bar = Better

  • @Jenuya the wide stance is place most of the emphasis on the hamstrings, glutes, and adductors which equate to a strong squat as they help with hip extension through the drive phase. a narrow stance engages the quadriceps more.

  • @mythosthecat Oh right, I did not know that at all. My stances is shoulder width, I feel it in my quads but the next few days it's the hams and glutes that are sore. Weird no?

    Since when does having your hamstrings parallel to the floor constitute a parallel squat? Its when your knee is level with the crease between your stomach and your upper leg (ie: like the groin crease (sort of)), this doesnt come anywhere close.

    I wish i could squat that high and call it parallel. Whatever the judges let it through so it must be legit.......

  • Yes they cheat - and this one is using squat suit takes away the weight etc but they're still extremly strong still they can squat like 3-4 times more weight than an averge person who works out hard.

  • this way of squatting is intended to lift more weight than in the "normal" way. In powerlifting the objective is lift as much weight as you bones let you. Is not about how you do it, is about DO IT. HEAVY and simple. JUST DO IT.

    strong man is more about all around strenght, with objects that people know and compere. You have max lifts in strong man but also on reps. It is a combination of strenght, speed, endurance and technique
