So, yes, you are right, parts of the song were taken from other songs and also occur on later songs, but this is done on purpose!

I'm a huge DT fan as well as a Metallica fan. I don't know if anybody notices, but parts (short parts) of this tune sound a little like "Blackened" by Metallica. I'm not implying that DT stole that little riff from Metallica, but I couldn't help noticing the brief moment of similarities. Most of the song does NOT resemble "Blackened" though.

Ive been listening to DT for years and they are prob the best collection of rock musicians ever put together, talent wise. I did think the whole 80's speed metal was a little overkill after the easy flowing melodies in the rest of the song. But you know what, thats also my personal opinion.

@ghostdude222 It's not a matter of whether or not it's cool...it's freaking awesome. However if you listen to the beginning of the song that ending doesn't really flow with the rest of the tune. Ive been listening to DT for years and they are prob the best collection of rock musicians ever put together, talent wise. I did think the whole 80's speed metal was a little overkill after the easy flowing melodies in the rest of the song. But you know what, thats also my personal opinion.

@jedipudu well that change up from melodic to speed is what makes this album different from the rest think of other songs on the album in the name of god and endless sacrifice or even stream of consciousness for that matter all do the same thing this is doing they bring it in nice and soft like and turn into something big and heavy and fast

@Hi456ify it is the guitar, probably a 6-stringed one. You can hear the difference between the guitar tones and the bass tones at around 5:05

@123454321qcat I think Petrucci blows Mustaine away ( and prolly would blow him lol) but he definitely was influenced by Mustaine...Petrucci says of the Fatal Tragedy solo he does on the Metropolis Pt 2 DVD "Now for the Megadeth..." and fuckin rips it...not sure if Mustaine could ever play that good but they're both sick to me.

Haha i think when i posted that comment I meant Labrie's voice sounded like Mustaine. But yeah i've heard that both petrucci and portnoy are megafans. John is a better lead player than mustaine definitely, but most of megadeth's lead guitarist (friedman, poland, broderick) are on petrucci's level.
