I generally agree with your POV on e-relationships. My experience was different though: I met someone online who seemed to be a genuinely deep and nice guy. But then, I gradually noticed how shallow he actually is (u know, in terms of looks and everything). I guess our perception of each other would probably change once we'd actually meet. But I was very insecure because of that. So it didn't even come to this point... :-(
05:30 You are right about all of what you said, and even for the part about the chatting instead of speaking, and yea its just the same me! But when 2 ppl who dont use english as a main language meet, and its usually nerving, confusing, and idk but maybe stressfull too to speak it,so i think its normal chatting instead of speaking.Internet relationships are real and They ARE real if you do the things David talks about, and its true, they are real..Least thats what i think..and i am sure they are!
Very well put. That's definitely a good explanation of online relationships. All the same, I've heard a very good point made that it often leads to a sort of "illusion" if you will. Since you're limited in what you can really know about them online, your imagination easily "fills in the blanks" on all the stuff you don't know and you end up creating a person that doesn't totally exist who seems more wonderful than they in fact are.
I think it takes a long and intense commitment to fall in love with someone. For me, online is as valid a place as any other for meeting people - for nerds/geeks it is even more powerful since shared interests and outlooks on life are usually very compatible, as you said, plus it eliminates the initial difficulties of face to face contact. Eventually those difficulties have to be faced, and then you can see about entering into a loving relationship. The foundations can be built online though. :)
@bezange the relationship would never be real though. anything online is not real, it's virtual. Combining a fake world with reality is messed up dude.
@Dannyisgreatful Its not virtual. The people you talk to online are real people. Just because there's a huge distance between them doesnt automatically mean that everyone is virtual. Yes there are weirdos out there, but there are also lots of normal people on the net aswell. I go on skype with loads of people that I've met from the internet. Does that make it virtual? If it does then that must make talking to people on phones virtual aswell. Be a bit more open minded. Sorry for the rant.
I'm just much too busy these days. MMORPGs in particular take up so much time to really play properly and keep friends, there's no way I could keep up anymore. If I really wanted to I could probably play as much as an hour a day, but playing that little just isn't quite the same somehow.
In this day in age it is getting more true, maybe this generation is more used to communicating online, but I think you're right that if people talk about their thoughts, feelings, hopes and dreams that they can get to know each other fairly well. It might still take a while to get to know people, just as it takes time to know people in life, but it's possible.
AWW you speak the truth!i love harry potter although the fifth movie was a tad disapointing because it didnt explain things enough for me(i read the book after the movie) and what you said about shallow comments, i know what your talking about its always like " hey myspace me fer sure!" or something like that. IM A BAND GEEK AND PROUD OF IT! lol love this video
Well I already knew that you really do love me, but that still makes me happy. I'm in a good mood now. :) I love you too, truly and completely, and I always will.
As a person you were also just how I expected you to be, though funnily enough you seemed smaller than my mind's mental picture. My mind isn't good at scaling things. :p But that just meant you were cuter.
Hehe. That and also the size of your head and hands- that's why I said smaller. If I thought logically about it I'd have known exactly how big you are because you'd told me your height and everything, but I think the human mind tends to scale everything in pictures to some kind of standard size (though that size may vary from person to person). That's my theory anyway. It wasn't like "OMG she's so small", it was just a subtle thing.
Well-said, David! I think that online relationships and friends in general are getting more acceptance in our society and not as just something "weird." My aunt got married to someone she met on an internet dating site and he's a really great guy.
As a side comment, the "LeeRoy" thing made me laugh because my ex had showed that to me long ago, haha.
Thanks :) That's true- you hear of people finding each other online so much more these days. It's becoming increasingly common.
Hehe. It's amazing what World of Warcraft has done for online gaming, and the fact that so many people actually know of Leeroy Jenkins is testament to that.
And you are right, nerds are the coolest people on earth and I very much enjoy being one (of the Opera, Musical Theater, literature and Harry Potter variety). Oh, and just so you know, Geek and nerd are not exactly interchangable. If you're into literature and/or music you are a "nerd". If you're into technology math or science you are a "Geek" so I guess that makes you a bit of both :).
I actually had a comment about that on the video originally, but I decided it made it too dull. The problem is there are multiple definitions of geek and nerd. That's one of them, but there are quite a few others (just do a Google search and you'll find loads). So I decided to pretend they're exactly the same to avoid confusion.
Wow, so many levels of nerd! Awesome. Yep, it's pretty cool being able to know someone before meeting them. I suppose I'm also pretty different expressing myself online than in real life. (I suppose... ha, I mean I'm positive.) I don't like salsa, ha, I just like eating the chips plain. Or if they're potato chips, sometimes with dip. Ha, "Do they like me? Really? Or are they just being nice?" I think it's easy enough to tell the difference though.
I so agree with you. I am such a nerd and I like my nerdiness. I've met people online and enjoy finding that there are other people out there like myself.

David, do you really love me?
Or are you just saying that?
Was I (from that very short time that you saw me) what you thought?
:]
Well, just so you know, I *really* do love you. Very very much.
And you are who I thought you would be when I met you.
My David.
