  • Aww RIP Kenny Irwin :(

I love Darlington! Great track and atmosphere down there.

  • There was a number of years where Jeff Burton was the KING of weather-affected races. If it got pushed to Monday, he ended up winning it. If it got shortened just after halfway, he was in front when it was called.

  • Ray Everham, should've never left Gordon.

  • where was dale sr

  • Crashed earlier in the race, wasn't a factor

  • The voice of Bill Webber makes me wanna watch IndyCars.

  • and why did Darlington lose a race?

  • Unfortunately Brian France would rather chase the money rather than respect the history and tradition.

  • @gadgefan48 Darlington lost a race back in 2005 because of a lawsuit that involed texas motor speedway it's a long story but brian france had nothing to do with it althought that ass is killing this sport.

  • @gadgefan48 that Bruton character also had a lot to do with it

  • Saved By Th Rain And the Poor Lil ford 99 Wins wow

See American Timex of automobiles took a licking kept on well almost ticking

  • When Burton got out the car and threw his hands up a huge lighting strike happened at the same time..one of the coolest moments in NASCAR!!!

  • @jwill239 That was fucking sick!

  • i had this on a tape xD it was funny

  • man i remember this race. Burton was so lucky that it started raining cause that car was torn up

  • i remember this it was nuts and so many lapped cars jeremy finished 2nd but like 6th or 7th in line

  • man those were the good ol day i remeber that race i was so happy

  • in the beginning are the fans cheering because burton blew a tire?

  • @RedSoxNation92 Wrong Jeff you're referring to, as Gordon got all the bad-luck cheers. If anything, I think they're cheering Burton for winning the race with a car as torn up as that,.

  • easy killer, just wondering

  • NASCAR on SPEED BE THERE IN 2010!!!!!!!!!! ONLY 78 MORE DAYS UNTILL THE 2010 DAYTONA 500!!!!!!!!

  • the Daytona 500 on speed? no way...

  • He meant most of the other stuff during speedweeks like practice sessions and the Gatorade Duels. The Daytona 500 is still on FOX.

  • This is why NASCAR doesn't race back to the line. Thats dangerous.

  • that is very bizarre. but a great finish

  • I love that Exide Paint scheme

  • Now this is the great coverage ESPN was made of!

N with the report bill weber had....thats the reason why he is so good in the pits!

    Also GREAT CLASSIC DARLINGTON!

  • I agree... his booth performances were pretty good last year, I thought. He, Kyle, and Wally make a good team, and hopefully it'll be a nice change of pace when TNT takes over. NO MORE DIGGER!

  • I remember when it seemed like every time a race was shortened due to rain, Jeff Burton always won! I'm glad to see Jeff Burton in a decent ride now. His last couple of years at roush werent that good. I'm a Gordon fan, but burton is one of those drivers that you have to be crazy not to like!

  • Man i miss BP, him and Bob Jenkins were the best NASCAR Commentators in my opinion

  • Don't forget Ned Jarrett with Dr. Punch, Kernan and Weber along pit road.

  • yeah i miss those guys. rip old ESPN

  • i was at this race when i was 9. im a huge burton fan and even was back then, this was the happiest day of my life at this time haha

  • gordon finshed 3rd

  • Most bizzare finish I've ever seen.

  • Carl Edwards' team still uses the pit board from this era. It's the purple-ish pink Exide colors.

  • yes, its actually for a purpose so he can see to get into his pit stall because of the colors.

  • this was burtons year until the end. He won a ton of races that year and had a lot of luck you need to win a title. I forgot how Dj beat him out, but I know it was close. It's funny seeing how young burton looked than.

  • BJ,BP and NJ sound really confused too lol

  • I was 8 when this happened, I still remember that.

  • haha i was there. i was on the backstretch, and we could feel the rain, for 2 laps, very light rain. then as they came down the backstretch the last time, it started raining harder.

  • Betcha if someone bigger like Earnhardt or Stewart or Gordon won, more people would remember this. Bizarre finish indeed.

  • Most underrated finish in NASCAR history.

  • I still remember this finish.

    What a year that was!

  • 1999 dum dum...the video says it

  • dum dum- that was a comment he made. not a question. "what a year that was" means it was a good year. lol. u r dum dum for that comment too.

  • ahhh damn.....yea you caught me lol i didnt even see that. well i gues i am a dum dum

  • Kenny Irwin was involved in this wreck. He died a year later when he crashed at New Hampshire Speedway.

Because of Irwin's fatal wreck, NASCAR had the drivers use restrictor plates at New Hampshire for the September, 2000 race. Jeff Burton won that race, too. In fact, he led every single lap.

  • And they never used them again. That was a horrifically bad race.

  • Dale Earnhardt hated using restrictor plates at that New Hampshire race. Dale Sr. was never a big fan of restrictor plate racing at all.

It's very unfortunate that Earnhardt died the folowing February at Daytona after hitting the wall at 190+ MPH.

  • Well, the reason why restrictor plates were used at New Hampshire ONCE was because of the speeds both Irwin and Petty hit the wall at. Both men also had stuck throttles and their brakes did not work. Earnhardt's crash was a result of overcorrecting his machine after being knocked loose going into turn three.

  • But why they simply not play on the carburetor? Some spacer exist that could slow down the car, and Nascar know that since they use it in Craftman... And the size of a carburator could play...

And, whatever, stuck throttles should never happen at this level, if it's happen something is wrongly made in the car or I underestimate some pressure somewhere, use a kill swicht is a good idea but a hole restrictor plate is... Restricting.

  • Jeff Burton was doing some "rain ritual" he wanted the rain to come

  • that was crazy

  • HELL YEAH GO BURTON!

  • Crazy finish

I don't remember seeing this race

But I remember Burton getting outta the car and celebrating
