@ArtisanAlchemist You meen the green guy with the spear? Yeah, I have a documentation of the build-up on this puppet on my website. Can't put up the proper link here, thanks to youtube, but the address begins with loneanimator and ends with com.
@trexstudios Thanks!! I'd love to work on big-time film projects, but I don't know how that would happen. Working on home made pretend-epics is the next best thing :)
Admit it - this is really a long-lost collaboration between Ingmar Bergman and Ray Harryhausen that you discovered in a trunk, and put your own name to it!
That is a fantastic story, and very well told. I really like the Sumerian/Babylonian mythology too, it's been mostly neglected. You've put together some beautiful scenes.
But I want to see more of the wilderness demons, they got killed off too soon. Give them their own film! And the croc-dogs too.
@StopmoNick Actually (kudos for your keen perception) the idea to make this film came to me while watching Bergman's "Fanny and Alexander" three years back. A jewish antiques dealer tells a story about the tribes of Israel, and suddenly we're back in those times, around a campfire. It's all done so elegantly, yet with great power, I was inspired to do an ancient tale myself. Then everything went Harryhausen, of course. Nothing wrong with that, though! Thanks for stopping by, Nick!
Really good film! Your animation , as always, is great. You truly are a film maker at heart. Loved all the puppets and especially the flying demon thing. Your composite work in really well done and the little touches like the little dust devil really adds to the quality. A lot of people wouldn't go to the trouble. Thanks for sharing!
@artguy53 Thank you! You're very welcome. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I love adding details to me films. If you can't make big blustering productions, you can at least make small ones with enough details to keep people interested.
Well done! I'm carried back to the saturday afternoon movies when they would show various epic/adventure films, like the Harryhausen movies, Errol Flynn and other classic Hollywood stuff. The animation and combination of the various film elements is amazing and fun to watch. Are all of your stop-motion puppets made with the build-up method, or do you use some maquette molding for any of them?
@Gijchar Thank you! That's the best response I could've hoped for. These are all the types of film that inspired, and keep inspiring me. All my puppets are built up, though I sculpt skin patterns and the heads and chests. These are cast as loose latex skins, applied to a foam-padded armature. I you go to my channel and scroll down below the "King" trailer, you'll find a buch of clips showing how I built one of the demons the king skewers in the film.
bluworm...how did you combine the stopmotion puppets with the live action? And what kind of editing problems did you run into? What problems did you have so I can learn from them?>
@castlegardener I shot all of the puppets in front of a bluescreen, using StopMotionPro software. Then I added the puppets (and bluescreened actors) into the backgrounds using After Effects and KeyLight, which is the most effective keying software I know of. I also used Puffin Composit Wizard to smooth things out. The problems I had all came down to inadequate lighting of the actor scenes. I had to use a lot of hand-drawn masks.
@TheSilleGuy Tackar! Jag laddade ju en kort snutt med lite före-och-efter snuttar. Det finns mycket annat material, men det är nog roligast för de som var med.
Woohoo ! Dunno, how long i was waiting to see that movie... Awesome job Richard. Everything is very well done. The puppets, the FX and the animation of course, but also the acting, directing, cameras, editing, etc... You delivered a tight story filled with action, beauty and dramas and you did it with a great style and beautiful pictures. Awesome !
@B3RS3RK3R666 We were all waiting to see it! It longer to finish than I had ever expected. But, now it's done and everyone involved seems happy enough. I'm very glad you liked it too. :)
@BagiClaymations Thanks! I may be a simpleton, but I do think movies with actors fighting stop-mo monsters is the greatest thing. I grew up on them, and I keep loving them. Gosh, I even make them myself, now :)
@Gragorathegiantsnowb Thanks! It was actually a lot of fun to make. We managed to squeeze all of the live-action footage into just one day of shooting. Puppet-building, animation and weeding out editing problems took a bit longer.
Great work! the animation was fantastic, this reminded me of clash of the titans. :D the chroma key was not that bad, a lot better than in my film. lol, this film's animation has really inspired me! can't wait for your next project! :D
@kkmoviechannel Thanks! Clash of the Titans was actually my first Harryhausen. It's still one of my all-time favorite films. We had some bad luck with the chroma key effects while shooting. Bad lighting, and such. Some of it could be fixed in editing, but not all of it. Glad you enjoyed it!
What an epic movie blueworm some awesome moments, great to see your wonderful stopmotion monsters and figures along side the actors. Some really cool effects and greenscreen work,it must have taken a long time to edit this. I can see the Ray Harry Hausen influences here. 10 thumbs up and 10 ********** from me.
16:18 But the only thing we need to fear on our deathbed, is to have lived a life without meaning! Amen!!!!!!! Another fantastic work!

on 4:32 did you clone the dragons?

@MoochagraProphet I did. I only built one dragon puppet, and animated it in a long shot, walking across my animation stage.
