  • I've been checking out RLBurnside lessons and yours is the only one I've found that sounds like RL Burnside!!!! Excellent lesson. Now I have to view it a doz. more times.

  • Really sweet playing, thanks for the lesson great groove!

  • I thought that was a great lesson man.

  • @deltabluestips Thank you very much Mr. Deltabluestips!

  • Man, you nailed it! Thanks.

  • Superb! The best tutorial! Got it!

  • In the internet you can search for old Oscar Schmidt Stella guitars or check out the sites of Fraulini or Hauver. Thanks.

  • @TheJinxBlues Ive looked all over the web but I havent seen anything like that one. Not even a single picture that looks like it. What Im seeing is that it might be mahogany or some really dark red painted light wood. After seeing various videos with various Stella guitars I just fell in love with the design and sound. Isnt there any more help you could provide me to get one of those similar to yours? Thanks for replying! :)

  • @VividZebra My guitar is a dark painted all birch concert size Stella, practically the same like the First Hawaiian Conservatory Stella. Check out vintagebluesguitars. I bought mine from Neil Harpe at stellaguitars. Hope this helps!

  • Hi! Is there somewhere you actually could buy that guitar (or a reproduction if its real one from 1920's), thnx in advance!! -K

  • THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Finally learned this song. Cripes, it took me until I found your video. Thanks again.

  • Thanks for this, truly great style!!

  • Thank You So Much,, you made my day.....

  • So helpful....thanks Jinx!

  • NIce!!!

  • I'm so glad I found this video everything about it is great ,it's changed my hole style of playing I've only started listening R L Burnside and love him already .thanks

  • Truly a unique style. Does it have a name?

  • @nancejo I really don't know. It's the style of RL Burnside, who was from North Mississippi Hill Country. Thank you very much!

  • @nancejo delta blues players pick like this sometimes

  • thank you so much. his rythmic stuff has been hard for me to figure out. any chance you know "jumper on the line" or "poor boy"?

  • @nmcclosk Thank you very much! I can't play "jumper on the line" and "poor boy" but ask Mr. Nervous Niven (the best RL Burnside interpreter on youtube), he announced RL Burnside lessons a long time ago.

  • @nmcclosk You and I have the same taste in music. This one and the two you mentioned are my favorites of R.L. Burnside.

  • huge help! may not matter much but the vid that brought me here sounds like open G#. are my ears off?

  • Haha, oh wow, thank you so much. I've been practicing this for weeks before I saw your video. You nailed it!

  • OOPS. Thought I had the other guitar in my hands. Open G it is.

  • I believe this is in open d tuning.

  • Brilliant. Best I've heard since old BS himself.

  • Awesome! Thanks for posting...

What kind of parlor guitar is that? It sounds wonderful.

  • @justinblee Thank you very much! It's a concert size 1920's Oscar Schmidt Stella (all birch).

  • Really great. Thanks!

  • really great, keep on the good work, pal!

  • Great lesson!

  • what a great song. would be nice if you could play it even slower and show exactly what you do. still a bit hard for me, but i can manage.

this is the best video for black mattie no question about it.

you captured the sound and rythem.

  • well done

  • Nice one my darling you're the only one showing us what your hands are doing : )

But I have no idea what open G tuning means .... Help me please !!!

Your sound is gorgeous, how does that little guitar sound so bassy ?

  • @jumperontheline Thank you! Open G-tuning (from 6th to 1st string): D,G,d,g,h,d. 1st, 5th and 6th strings are tuned down one step. The guitar sounds in that way, I can't help. Maybe because it's ladder braced?
