I remember that they had not won for 12 months until that day.

It was so sad that this ended up being their final victory,

I guess that was why the fans ran onto the ground, they didn't know when their last win would be so they made the most of it.

Sadly a month later, the word came into the AFL that Fitzroy was not able to continue past the year.

i wonder if the kids aged 8 and under remember the day? a great but ultimately sad day. As an adelaidian who goes for the brisbane bear then lions it was great when the roys snagged a win in adelaide in 95. the hawk played a great game and so did simon atkins.

Kids 8 and under would not have been born, so no, they would not remember this day.

I was just under 13 and I only remember hearing about Fitzroy winning and being happy, because they weren't a club that one could dislike at all.

Great guernsey...Fitzroy. Still one of the saddest days in footballing history.

i really doubt any team will go though, the afl is really pumping money into them, the only team going backwards atm off the field seems to be the kangas, on more money than melbourne is and still loosing, melbournes debt is down to like not even 1 mil anymore due to their donation thing lol i know its sad in a way melb had to become a charity basically but still its helped alot and i guess the saying "whatever it takes" comes into effect there.
