Right, people need to understand that "not X" doesn't necessarily mean "opposite to X", just "not X". This is another reason why people can not understand science. For something to be scientific, it has to be falsifiable, or capable of being proven false. Science can only prove something false, or not false, which does ot necessarily mean true. Which is why the God "Hypothesis" will not be scientific as long as theists try to place it above and separate from the natural realm.

This is something that annoys me. We can never truly know what the universe actually is, we can only find the most basic explanation we can think of for it.

It isn't a matter of god or not god (and gods). More than half of the population of the earth have it wrong no matter what the truth is. Most important question that I believe should be asked is, what kind of ass hole deity would punish more than half of the population for not believing a proposition that hasn't even been provided with evidence? Is such an ass hole god more or less likely than no god or a fair god who don't need worship?
