I'm a senior in high school mid-way through Calc two and I am proud to say that I both caught a few snippets and understood the proof as a whole, and yet was blown away by the analysis and correlative methods of this video!
I wonder if you note the delta x and delta y in a wrong way in the geometry explanation. I think they should exchange the positions. You really give a excited lecture.thank you.
@MrSupaninja911 I know you posted this a year ago, but what he presents here is a lemma not a corollary, it is a proof that his previous videos assertion of continuity relies on, the theorem thus being proved. The chain rule would be a corollary...
Q We have said delz(^z) =f(x+^x,y+^y)-f(x,y) Is it equivalant to [f(x+^x,y)-f(x,y)]+[f(x+^x,y+^y)-f(x+^x,y)] as it is stated on the last part in proving the theorem Please comment explain
1.epselon is supposed to be the error difference in delta z which is to be calculated by subtracting fx(x1,y)^dx-fx(x,y)^dx Then where is dx on the calculation
Donylee, personally I am an art student studying in Nanyang Academy of fine art, but study mathematics as a hobby for about 6 years already. My true interests are calculus and group theorey. I have watched your videos on gaussian maths and managed to understand them. So do you have any suggestions for me?
I love how fast you go because it makes me really pay attention and not zone out. (who could zone out when you're going a hundred miles an hour!) Keep up the good work!
actually, just calc II. I am starting my bachelors in physics this fall. thus far, I'm entirely self taught in anything beyond algebra, so it should be fun to take some real classes. in the meantime, your videos are very helpful and encouraging for whats to come. thanks!
Yes, always ensure that the sum of your partial derivatives yields a complete and rational total differential. Man you crack me up with that high energy personality, you make people excited about math. MIT is nuts for rejected you.

Take care also not to confuse a lemma from a corollary.
A corollary is a statement which follows readily from a previous statement. In mathematics a corollary typically follows a theorem.

do you have a video explaining how to find the directions of most rapid increase and decrease at a certain point?

Would be really cool if you could do lectures for Partial Differential Equations!

Yup, lots of people say I teach rather fast. But I guess the main reason is like what you said - keeping the mind in the zone.
Good preview. So what course your taking this fall, Real Analysis or Advanced Calculus?
