just came back from seeing her live...she belts out the blues and has a great voice for it...puts her heart and soul into it as Janis did!!

Not really. I think she may have sung with Big Brother before she was the LEAD in the play, not the understudy. Get your facts straight before you criticize.

After being goaded into viewing this, I am compelled to share these observations:

She sings well, there are better around town. I'd bet her tenacity as an understudy in a Joplin play landed her the gig more than her vocal chops. For that she deserves some praise.

She is NOT a goddess, come on grow up.

She is NOT Janis Joplin, anyone hearing Marybeth Wagner, Elise Reid, have heard someone do a better job copping Janis. She puts her heart into it , that deserves recognition for effort.

Mary can really sing period. I think she does a great job singing Joplin. I have seen her play around town in cleveland and in akron (rotr).

hope she has met janices' sister.

the music sounds good, but man this is sad......for so many years sam,peter and david kept things going and now (in 2008) sam is no longer there -- once sam goes they should just put it it to rest (in my opinion) because it becomes exploitational.....with the previous lineups (especially the ones where the singer has no intentions of sounding like janis) i could atleast justify their existence, especially since they were writing new songs with sam (the cowriter of most of their important songs).
