I witnessed a film playing to new recruits all about learning to kill or be killed.

 Programming takes real effect when young guys get into a combat situation where they have to kill others. "To kill someone says one veteran takes life from you!

Will probably take some heat from right-wing idiots, which may be annoying, but may also have its pluses (sometimes celebrities are loved more because of the people they piss-off; e.g., Dixie Chicks). Quite a departure in character for Ben; usually this kind of material gets ostracised for being 'unpatriotic' (propaganda only happens in other countries apart from the IS of course) but hopefully the new regime will prove different. Wish him all the best.

The camera used to film is an interesting choice - has a very home-made feel to it.

I was able to catch it the other day with audio, though for some of it it's not needed you can really see what he is conveying in his eyes; pain, regret, twinges of anger even a little rage. When I did hear his voice the pain is raw, I really hope it can be finished so we can see the catharsis or resolution.... what happens next

A massive number of human lives have been wasted on this senseless conflict. I've seen figures upwards of 1.3 million Iraqi deaths due to the US invasion. I don't know what the breakdown of civilian to military is, or even if that number is accurate. When we add huge numbers of potential US suicides it makes it even WORSE.

They definitely chose the right actor for this role. Ben can bring on the emotion, especially this deep remorseful type. This is a heart breaking issue and it kind of reminds me of John Crichton talking about the day he brought a bomb to work in a field of flowers. I know that was fiction.....just saying he knows how to tap into that deep sorrowful emotion that makes us cry and this will be even more emotional because....sadly it's real.

Wow what a moving clip. It leaves me wanting more. I would love to see a sensitive & intelligent film raising awareness of the terrible price our soldiers pay for our freedom. This clip has sparked interesting discussions on forums I hang out at (forums unrelated to this topic) between vets, spouses of vets, & civilians.

Ben Browder is an amazing actor. No one better could have been chosen to portray the depth and emotion required for this part. I look forward to seeing his full performance.

The subject and commercial viablility will have to be seen, with the present perceptions of war.

The clip was interesting but too short to get a good idea of how the character was processing what he was going through. Browder's more often than not a surprising actor given the right material -story, character- and director. At times he is even brilliant; especially with parts that convey emotion through expression and body language. I'll reserve judgment on this performance once I can put it in the context of a complete film. As a full length film, Browder would be the draw for me.

Don't worry about Ben being in the film a tiny bit. The story is about two vets... one from Vietnam, and the other from Iraq. One considered a success, the other a failure. Ben plays a convict who is imprisoned for robbery, with an unloaded gun. His attempt at being killed over his guilt. The Vietnam vet makes an Academy award winning documentary about him. When Ben gets out of prison he comes to kill the documentarian, but what he wants is to be killed, as does the documentarian.
