  • Alexandria is a mythical place for Greeks, it is inspiration for songs and poems, like the song you hear in the background of this video. Alexandria / Al Iskenderija is our eternal gift to Africa and the Arab world. Greetings from Yunan!

  • Hey not the Arab but the Egyptians :D

and we love the greeks, at least Alexander the great who built this place he wanted to make a big (IDK word) but anyways it's all for us

masters of the world was the 1-EGYPTIANS 2-GREEKS

  • @midomoshkela2 Persian empire enslaves Egypt and Alexander saved it, EGYPT GREECE BROTHERS!

  • @midomoshkela2 if you still think there's a difference between the arabs and the egyptians then you are deluded. we are one and the same Hajjar herself was an egyptian so arabs are egyptian and egyptians are now arabs.

  • @midomoshkela2 Hey, dont say 1-egyptians and 2-greeks, say (GREECE/EGYPT)!

  • @laptop774 its true that greece and egypt loved each other but if thats true then why did Alexander conquer Egypt!

  • Incidentally, the president of the Congress of Greeks of the World Abroad organisation, SAE/ΣΑΕ is an Egyptian Greek gentleman, Mr Tamvakis, from Alexandria, whom I had the pleasure of meeting last year in Chicago. He is the current president, presiding over Greek communities from European countries to Russia, Australia, Canada to USA and Brasil, ie, from all arround the world.

  • This is a song by Greek Alexandrian singer Alkistis Protopsalti. You can see her school in a photo of this video. She sang in the inauguration of the New Alexandrian Library.

  • YOU HAVE TO COME TO ALEXANDRIA

  • I leave in alexandria, all this photos can not show you the real alexandria, beleive me you have to come tow alexandria

  • iv been to alexanderia but iv lived in al rehab search rehab look

  • aww thats beautiful. I didnt know that Greeks liked Egyptians... YAY!

  • shai8057: why should'd we like the Egyptians? We respect Egypt as a country and as a culture. We go back a long way together. Greeks in general are friendsly and respectful especially of the Egyptians, the Syrians, the Palestinians and the Lebanese. We consider these OUR HOME areas, since a lot of greeks lived there for many centuries with the locals, and memories die hard. Most Greeks left Egypt after Nasser took over but they now say it was over reacting: they should have stayed.

  • yeah i thought coz of what Nasser did they wouldnt like Egypt. I say they should have stayed too! my grandma always tells me of the Greeks that lived in our flat, she was the only Egyptian in the whole flat. Im actually studying Greek at uni! Auta eivai pola wpaia language! kai }adelfia mou eivai half greek :)

  • NO, no no: From what I heard from Egyptiotes Greeks themselves, Nasser DID NOT DO ANYTHING to them! They simply got scared by the Arab Nationalist CLIMATE. People tell me that when they were leaving for Greece, their Egyptian neighbors were crying. When they came to Greece, Egyptian Greeks, because of their great education and the many languages they speak got the best positions in Business, especially in exporting companies and shipping.

  • Yes indeed! My grandma told me the same thing (bout the crying)! and my Greek history teacher told us that the Egyptian Greeks occupied great business positions when they went back to Greece too! Wow ive come a long way in 5 months! lol

  • eismakedon

enough that the greek Alexander was the one who built alex, its a relation that goes back from 3000 years .

greeks brought science and great culture to egypt , even in egypt alexandria looks pretty much like any city in greece , i have been in athens many times , best city in europe

    greetings from egypt

  • hi man,I clicked on your comment -though it's old- cause i had a conversation with a greek about this few months a go here on u tube, and when i told him tat many Greeks lived with us for years, espicially in times of war,he said there's no way that greeks would escape from Greece 'to live in a shit hole'..I know they did live in many Arab countries such as Egypt -am half Egyptian myself-,syria,& Leabanon..I'm just glad 2 c some Greeks say it..-_-

  • Well, my friend, you simply talked to a complete moron, who is ignorant of his own history, what can I say? The president of the Greeks abroad, including Greeks of USA, Australia, Russia, western Europe etc, at the moment, happens to be the same man who is the president of the Greek community of Alexandria. The Greek Orthodox patriarchate of Africa is in Alexandria. Alexandria was built as a Greek city...should I continue. Cavafy the modern greek poet was from Alexandria...what else can we say?

  • My first love is my Egyptian-Greek wife,my second is Alexandria....This is a beautiful video and a magnifficent song..Mellow,tender,like the soft breeze of the Alexandrino kalokeri...Nick the Greek

  • A worthy song for all Alexandrians - both Greek and Egyptians, whether abroad or locally residing. Ehna dayman Iskandareeny !

  • i live in alexandria
