  • The American financial system sucks, but it's the fault of the people who fought for deregulation. Not bailing out the banks would have led to complete disaster.

  • Did Uncle Tom return his States portion of the bailout or did he like most Repubs verbaly blast it & then made some time for some nice photo op's for all the buisness that money saved or created in his State. Another fucking Hippocrit. The RED States recieve more Federal Tax dollars back then they pay into the Federal coffers yet THEY scream the most about big Federal spending, subsidies & bailouts (laughs). You Conservatives from the South & Mid-West are the biggest hippocrits of all (laughs).

  • It is constitutional under the commerce clause.

Also worth mentioning that Coburn voted for the bailout bill.

  • @AndroidPolitician

the commerce clause stats that the fed's have the right/power to REGULATE commerce between the indivitual states of the union ,it does NOT provide power to the fed to BAILOUT single company's in some states ,if so they would need to bailout ALL company's in ALL states, btw Senator Coburn said himself in this clip that he would vote for the bill,so no need to mention that,at least he is Honest about it

  • @Hoschi0913

What are you stupid? A bailout is a form of regulation.

  • @AndroidPolitician

right, thats why all companys got one

  • @Hoschi0913

Gee I wonder if certain regulations only impact certain companies.

  • what a fucking hypocrite. he votes for the bill but nothing in his speech supports the bill...someone looks like a complete bitch of special interest groups. way to bend over and take one Senator.

  • I would love him if he didn't vote for TARP, in the days before the TEA Party

  • God Bless this man if he really means what he seems to believe in, and stands for....................and hope hes not another puppet bastard like Ron Paul, fucking shape shifting devils from the pits of shits of hell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Shadhin101 he says one thing and does another he voted for the bailout...hes a bitch for special interest groups. hes a fake. Ron Paul is a true fighter of liberty and the preservation of the free market.

  • @Shadhin101 you're either a troll or the dumbest person I've ever met

  • All I heard was, " I'm a practicing physician." which really means, " I have a special interest in this matter and the policy and law changes being recommended will greatly affect the dollar amount of my bank account." - I guess he's really crying now seeing as how this video was uploaded before health care reform was signed into law!

  • Dr Coburn as a PRAKTISING Physician is PARAPRASED in every Statement made on the floor of the House. He is no Einstein, and let us remember, Dr. William Harrison Frist Republican Majority Leader from 2003 until his retirement in 2007 and the SCHIAVO DIACNOSIS? He screwd up big and couldnt macke it to be an A. Einstein.

  • HE'S no Einstein? And you spelled practicing "PRAKTISING"

    and did you mean diagnosis?

  • @sommeflame34

You're a freakin idiot!!!! LMAO!!! I'd rather hear from a DR. than a freakin politician. He has nothing to lose. Go to your socialist corner and hold hands with the rest of em. I don't care about R or D anymore. I simply acknowlege and respect the CONSTITUTION and believe it's still a work of art. W. Wilson changed the history books for a reason,.......you want to find a racist,.....look into him! Geeze! Evil man! Think like you've been told, or educate yourself.

  • Greasy little pinch of Oklahoma Armadillo crap is right, but he likes sending GOP Antrax to Democrats "unsolved" by Bush -Cheney, and loves taxpayers spending $2.8 triilion for his GOP-PNAC-C Street Crime Family to bomb The WTC contacted to GOP "Saudi Oil Brother" Bin Laden. Launched Exxon-BP-Oklahoma-Texas taxpaid conquest of Iraq's oil reserves. Typical GOP bacteria get "conservative" the moment that Texas Oklahoma Oil CEO's own Mideast oil fields. GOP Coburn-Satan's Pol Pot, Hitler worshiper

  • its ironic he talks about treating the cancer and is 100% against medical marijuana! i hate this jaggoff and ashamed he is from my state.

  • We got here because you dickwads voted for wars without funding them.

Kind of like that Medicare Part D and No Child Left Behind.

Check the 16,000 earmarks you added to Bush's budget bills.

  • Coburn is lying to all of you sheep.

  • fuck liberal faggots trying to take away my freedom

  • what freedom is that dopey?

  • hmm...Coburn voted YES on Torque...not on the bailout...someone site where they found he voted YES

  • Coburn voted for this you idiots, look up his record...he voted for all the bailout!!!!!!

  • Coburn should go without health insurance.

  • naw your thinking of democrat mike synar

and ihis aids induced brain cancer

  • If he's so into following the wisdom of the founding fathers and knows we reap what we sow and that rampant consumerism is not going to fix the cancer of the economy and that we've already spent ourselves into oblivion then WHY DID HE VOTE YES ON THE BILL. My god, if we're really that stupid then we do deserve everything we get. The Barn's on fire and he's headed for the barn.

  • Well said, Coburn!

  • Sounds good - sounds like too little too late.

Sounds like what the the Roman Senate might have heard 'round about the the fall of the Roman Republic - and again 'round about the time of the fall of the Roman Empire.

  • specifically, where did he threaten the president?

  • Like I say. It's not a problem under Bush, giving away our money.. When Obama wants to do for the people. It's socialism and facist. What happened to to capitalism? It's tanking, okay let's keep it, hope for a different rusult. Have we been here before?

  • Renagade70, THIS guy, who was a Republican, was saying that giving this money away-under Bush-was unconstitutional! Your saying 'It's not a problem under Bush, giving away our money' He's saying IT IS A PROBLEM! You haven't even watched the video! 'What happened to Capitolism? Its tanking, okay let's keep it, hope for a different result.' Ever heard of the Great Depression? How about the deep recessions of the late 70's, or the late 80's? Change your screen name...I suggest Retard70.

  • Rightwing nut! Yes, at that time the election. The republicans was playing this game. When the light is on them. They are againist something with sense. Then when the light went out they was out like roaches. Please I know better rightwingnut.

  • Well thank God for FDR who helped the country out of the depression. My grandfather worked in the CC camps that built the highways and bridges. So I am absolutely for our gov't using the money we pay in taxes to try and stimulate the economy. Cash for clunkers, success, health care reform, will be a success.

Unlike when W was in office and ran this great country into the bottomless pit. Have a nice day.

  • When W was in office. You mean the 8 years when unemployment averaged below 5 percent? When the Dow hit that 13,000 high?

When he finally gave free prescription drugs to seniors? And spent billions on aid to farmers? And spent more money than Clinton fighting AIDS in Africa? And FDR's policies lengthened the Depression..read some history books. Have a super happy fun terrific day.

  • I agree with your comment about Bush and fact that the Repubs have the monopoly on fear. No I hear there are death panels for the VA, so says Palin.

  • some Democrat fear-mongering:

"Reagan's going to get us into World War 3"

"Republicans want to take away your Medicaid"

"Saddam Hussian has Weapons of Mass Destruction and we're afraid he'll pass them off to a terrorist group"

"George Bush is going to bring back the draft for the Iraq War"

"Bush is going to suspend the Constitution so he can stay in power past 2008"

    Monopoly? Hardly.

And Palin's right. Google "Your Life, Your Choices". Its a REAL BOOK that actually exists.

  • Palin needs to talk about death panels. She makes rape victims pay for a rape kit. Nuff said.

  • shit, if a veteran see a real license doc while in hospital it a rare deal, and by the way they only hire the looser doctors anyway, the ones that cant purchase malpractice insurance because of lawsuits. does the VA get sued, never.

you cant get a federal judge to take your side.

  • Wow, a senator who knows the constitution-refreshing.

  • Another C STREET FREAK FIND OUT WHAT C STREET IS A BUNCH OF GOD NUTS SCARY

  • Bailout: with Bush it's okay. Colburn votes for it. under Obama it's everything evil. Colburn claims it's unconstitutional.

  • Colburn voted against the pork that was in the bill. Bush's didn't have pork. Obama, Pelosi, Reid, etc., wasted Billions in this bill which was misappropriated. That is what he was refering to. Bush should have let Aig and the rest go under but he was advised that not bailing them out would cause a massive depression. It didn't work with that bailout, so to do another one was stupid. And to add pork to it, was even worse and caused more economic mess.

  • Sure! Like vote for billions of dollars for the war in Iraq. The private contractors get the whole pie. The troops only gets the crumbs. Colburn voted for that. Please I know what is pork. The stimulis is comming very slowly.

  • Military necessities are not pork. Pork is an unnecessary excess of what is necessary. Funding a war to rid a country, thus the world, of terrorists and a tyrrant is not pork. It is Constitutional. The stimulus is coming very slowly, huh? What was spent on job creation was temporary jobs, like road and bridge repair. After those projects are finished so are the jobs. How does saving a marsh mouse save jobs? Or research of pig urine and waste mgmt.? Tattoo removal? LIBS ARE PIGS!!!

  • Your taking about two entirely different things. But don't bother yourself with finding out what they were. Just come on utube and denounce a republican.

Glad you on the left are looking to bring the country together.

  • UHHH..check the date. This WAS under Bush. Grab that jerking knee of yours and re-think your reconcieved notions.

  • Sure, they know they was going to get an ass-whipping. Now they playing politics. There's no fucking end to the republicans games and fear tactics. Please Colburn isn't saying anything new.

  • well this left wing peice of shit needs to get bounced out! choices???? liberals or socialists! fucking rino's! small government, small government! fucking sheep obahmacrats!

  • This guys tells us that doctors make horrible politicians but have 20/20 hind sight. So what Rx do you offer? None? Just a vote? Great job if you can get it..

  • you hug the constitution immediately after the fact that your party is in the minority, just go on and fuck yourself

  • he's got a good talk, but it is not backed up with action he voted against all of us SEND THE JERK OUT

  • I've been watching the health care legislation commitee debate, and I have to say I like a lot of what Tom Coburn is saying. Basically, he is against national health care, and Dodd says no to all of his amendments. I hope Peter Schiff takes Dodd's seat in 2010.

    RAND PAUL 2010 & RON PAUL 2012

  • The Senator sounds like he knows what he is talking about. However, as long as private people with capitalst interest are continued to be allowed to do business by way of "lobbying" to goverment officials, the system will continue to Fail

  • Very good speech, but actions count louder than words.

Tom Coburn's voting record from VoteSmart:

He voted for the Military Commissions Act, all the PATRIOT Acts, and Bush's TARP-1 bailout and stimulus before he voted against the Obama bailout and stimulus. I don't see a principled stand. I mostly see partisan politics as usual.

  • How about voting against the additional $91.4 billion for war which only Russ Feingold and Bernie Sanders voted against???? Those are your 2 most liberal senators that he voted with.

  • Tommy was initially a one-issue pol: "I'd like to see a death penalty for abortion doctors." He also envisaged lengthy state prison tabs for clinic workers. Where he stands on clinic patients? He's a larger-than-life figure in the Anti-Abort community. All of these ideas to be impemented are gonna cost a pile of monies ala BIG GOVT,

  • I don't see this Senator cosponsoring S.604, the Federal Reserve Sunshine Act. This bill would enable the GAO to audit the unconstitutional federal reserve bank. Contact your Senator and ask them to cosponsor S.604. Use govtrack . us to search for the bill and contacting your so called reps.

  • VOTE REPUBLICRAT YOU DUPES

  • Man, I hope this guy gets re-elected. Too bad too few republicans and so called conservatives do not speak and vote like this more often.

  • a great speech.. too bad he voted against your interest in lock step with the rest of the republicrats....this is a feel good dog and pony puppet show.

this guy voted for every fascist piece of legislation including the patriot act and all the ruinous free trade frauds the busheviks could muster

  • No kidding...he has my vote for President 2012

  • Coburn iscorrect. the cause is the losers who are running companies into the ground with corruption and then asking the Fed to bail them out. BS. Let these loser companies go belly up and let the good companies take their place! No bailouts for losers. Obama is a shady and corrupt President and so is his Speaker of the House. Obama's socialism has no right to own banks and automakers in the United States of America. The USA is founded on a free capitalistic and free enterprise system.

  • I feel for the younger generation. I was lucky to grow up in the 50's and 60's. The next few years will bring untold suffering across America. These corrput politicians have sold us into sefdom. A revolution is in order.

  • You idiots missed the point.

He is voting for the bailout to help the situation.

It is what *caused it* that is against the constitution.

"I cannot undertake to lay my finger on that article of the Constitution which granted a right to Congress of expending, on objects of benevolence, the money of their constituents...." --James Madison--

This whole fiasco was started by Jimmy Carter, and accelerated by Clinton and Bush for votes from the poor.

    You been sold out!

  • america is the laughing stock of the world you know canada and england was in the WW1 and WW2 wars before usa look it up and watch the movie Passchendaele (2008) canada is bigger then usa and has 30 million people usa has 300 million you guys are breeding like rats just like china and japan 10 years from now you will be leaving in another country not mine cuz we dont want you be thankful that we give you food to eat so go pop out another baby and buy a super fast car canada 4 life

  • You need to grow some intelligence and re-read your history books... The US entered to SAVE THE BUTTS OF THE BRITTS AND THE FRENCHIES... WITHOUT OUR INTERVENTION, ENGLAND WOULD BE SPEAKING GERMAN RIGHT NOW AND SO WOULD FRANCE. Gosh I feel so good when I enlighten the dense... *wink*

  • You also started that war. Take your own advice and read up on your history.

In you (USofA) have started every single war since then.

  • Bla bla bla... He is just blathering on a bunch of pretty weak rhetoric without citing specifics of exactly what violated exactly which laws exactly how. What a wind bag.

  • very articulate you've totally convinced me by destroying coburn's argument

  • dennisgunn: He DID cite specifics. Like the 10th Amendment. your bla.bla.bla is 2nd grade crap: "My mind is made up, don't confuse me with facts."

"I cannot undertake to lay my finger on that article of the Constitution which granted a right to Congress of expending, on objects of benevolence, the money of their constituents...." --James Madison--

Keep voting for those (Obama) that violate our Constitution and do NOT give you what we want, and you continue to fuck us all.

  • I meant to say of RJ Harris:

A good leader has the self control NOT to take control that is not rightfully his to take,

and recognizes the citizens are his boss & his service is to "We the people".

  • OMG this is messed up.

This Congressman voted FOR the BAILOUT! RJ Harris for

  • RJ Harris for Ok Congressman district 4.

    RJ Harris has integrity.

Thats not a very common virtue nowdays.

A good leader has the self control to take control

  • Maybe he changed his mind now and regrets voting for the bailout...

  • @ susanaldridge46:

    No HE did NOT!

Instead last week defended his bailout vote at THE STATE CONVENTION.

Needless to say HE GOT BOOED!

  • Where is John Gault?

  • REVOLT! Water the tree of Liberty now!

  • congress is up for election vote them out institute limited terms

  • It's like Atlas Shrugged being played out in real life.

  • Just like a real cancer patient, we could relieve some pressure of this economic mess with some marijuana.

  • I like this guy! hes definately not a dumbass like most of the politicians...

  • ...except that he just eloquently explained that this bill was unconstitutional... and then VOTED FOR IT in direct violation of his oath!

  • See Video explains Banker Looting ? > Obama Deception

  • Perhaps he should have read into the record the warning signs of Fascism & the Communist Manefesto

  • those figures on the unfunded obligations are correct

  • hell demand your supposed "arm"

  • everybody should be for gun control i mean come on, you want the only people who have the guns to control you, can a cow get a little bite sometime put some back in there right place, really push them on their envelope vote yes on guns.

  • i am so proud of my senators especially, Coburn. he is a plain spoken common sense person. i wish he were president. he at least believes in the constitution which most do not anymore.

  • Good to know, at least someone is staying constant with there rhetoric. Mr.Coburn gave a similar speech today in the senate as he voted down the $787 BILLION or $787,000,000,000 stimulus plan. THAT NO SENATOR READ!!! I don't order something on a menu, before I check the price and poloticians are throwing money billions around! Only in the USA!

  • thank god senator coburn beat carson.he had done a great job so far and he makes me proud to be a okie.keep fighting the good fight tom.we need more like you.country before party.

  • In my opinion Coburn is the best senator we've got today. And I'm from California. One of the few real conservatives left.

  • im glad to here some people are paying attention like yourself.he has pissed off people on bothsides of the isle.i think once people wake up to obama being more of the same.i voted for the guy but he sure has changed once he got in.i will give him a little longer before i decide if he is for real.dont let those cal libs get you down.

  • Absolutely brilliant speech. If only he'd followed through what he was saying and voted against the bill.

  • what, you think a person can't continue learning? Don't generalize your limiations to others.

  • Comment removed

  • So you're one of those who thinks the original intent of hte framers of the Constitution are worthless, right? You think that we need to constantly revise our understanding of the wording of the Constitution and go with whatever is popular at the moment, correct? How is coining, regulating, and establishing weights and measures equatible to the bailout? And how is subsidizing a private business venture, or turning government into a business, related to the Interstate Commerce Clause?

  • Comment removed

  • No, no no, you don't get it. It's all connected.

"To coin money, regulate the value thereof..."

    Federal Reserve, Interest rates...there! :P

Bailout, Big bannks...Interstate commerce. Don't tell me Citi bank can't b regulated by the government or that it's not interstate commerce.

Amtrak is subsidized for the same reason we have interstate highways. Railroads, highways, it takes people and things from state to state. Interstate commerce. :P

  • In other words, your integrity and standards are for sale, or at least for rent. You say you don't believe in evolving standarsd for interpreting the Constitution, yet that's exactly what you espouse and endorse.

  • Comment removed

  • Hey, let's not forget social programs, education, firearms control and hate speech. I mean, as long as we're going to sacrifice standards for whatever's convenient at the moment, let's go whole hog. All power to the government, zero to the people! You inconsistent so-called conservatives give conservatism a bad name. Read The Law by Frederic Bastiat and then we'll discuss the proper role of government.

  • Comment removed

  • Oh sure, "the founding fathers were all socialists". Keep telling yourself that.

"Need equals right" -- keep telling yourself that as well.

"If I see a need, I have the right to steal from the other guy, or if I'm more refined, I'll get the government to do that" -- keep telling yourself that also.

You're in the company of every burglar, hold up man, and bank robber on earth.

  • Wow! This is the first time I heard a Senator mention Article I, Section 8 and Amendment X of the Constitution. Why in the heck did he vote for it if he was so against it?

  • He gives an excellent argument AGAINST the bail-out, then says, "oh, but I'm going to vote for it."

Unprincipled only begins to describe him.

  • What the hell are you white fuckers talking about? The constitution changes all the time. If the president does it, it does not make it illegal.

  • "white fuckers" im geussing you voted for obama

  • Racist

  • He's right. It is unconstutional. Ron Paul is always right. He predicted the collapse of our market years ago.

  • It is more unconstitutional than you stated. Nowhere in the Constitution does it say that taxes are to be used for bailouts. Nowhere does it say that two wrongs make a right. Perhaps you could explain why you think that this is in any way "right"?

  • Finally someone gets it right. The Constitution does not allow this bailout, and Coburn is one of the few that actually understands it. The vast majority of what congress does is illegal under the Constitution. 90% of the members ought to be in jail for Constitutional violations.

  • Coburn's a hypocrite and an idiot. Let me sum up his ten minute pontificiation: "We got in this mess by ignoring the Constitution; let's get out of this mess by ignoring the Constitution. How come nobody but me is smart enough to have figured this out? This is wrong, even though it's right, and it's right even though it's wrong. The sun is rain and the rain is sun. Dogs are cats and cats are dogs. Up is down and down is up." He's used up any cred he had as a strict constitutionalist.

  • As is every Democrat, Independent or Republican that supports the bailouts.

  • Yet the bastard still voted for it.

  • wanting new friends

    looking for friends Kw

  • Wow, what insight. Very informative. But did he say why he's voting for this? That statement confused me.

  • yeah i agree. It's an insightful argument but it's also ironic. He did say he was voting for the bill even though he argues against it. Its almost like he's saying alright ill give in to this one but there better not be a next time. He's smart enough to know theres going to be a next time! Infact he lists all problems we will have as a result of this bill! Why not establish and endorse a bill that

  • attacks the cause directly instead of passing a bill that only continues America down the slippery slope and gives more power to government over the economy!

  • He's voting for it because he understands that while this bailout is illegal, it is the result of the decades of unconstitutional actions of Congress. Congress created the problem and even though they are continuing to do so, he wants to try to fix the problem. The best way to fix this is to toss out ever member that has served more than one term and goes the route of business as usual.

  • Anyone who voted for this bill is a traitor to the Constitution and the country. If they claim to be a conservative, they're a traitor to the principles they claim they believe in. He's trash and needs to be voted out.

  • That is why I will be voting for anyone in the necxt election, who does not have "encumbent" next to his/her name, in the next election.

  • What a profound speech. Unfortunately, my heart string-tug stopped as Dr.C informed he would vote for the bill. It is totally illogical to feed a fire with gasoline. And, to bail out the very offshoot companies of the inbred bankers who orchestrated this collapse(The Rockafellers, the Harriman, the Morgans, the Rothschilds). The Privately owned Federal Reserve Bank(chaired by Bernanke, b4 him, Greenspan) and rep. at the Treasury by banking tycoon(700mill net wrth) Paulsen, planned this. Hang Them

  • My sentiments exactly. Why did he even make this speech if he voted for it? If I were in the Senate or House and I was threatened to pass it, I would have done exactly what Brad Sherman of California did and then tacked on "I'm voting for this just so you can see how damaging it is going to be, and so you can see the rage of the American people brought to full bare against this government when they realize we've sold them out and ruined their lives and their children's lives."

  • I Tom Coburn oppose the auto bailout b/c ah totally support aul ma good supporters from the great states of Toyota,Honda, Mercedes, & aul them there wonderful ppl from BMW, Volkswagon, Kia. Yes ah remember back in 1989 before mah time when Daddy Bush ran into sompin called the S&L crisis & we done shelled out 75 billion for Texas S&L's alone. When it was Texas in 89 it was aul ryeeet buh now we has da UAW & da big 3. Way'll Dr Cobern dona cotton no UAW when we gots to take care of TOY-OTA.
  • hey Congress, thanks for giving our country away!

  • You say its unconstitutional yet, "plan to vote for it"? You sir should be impeached. It is your responsibility to NOT VOTE for unconstitutional bills. Period. Grow show balls, just becuause party leadership wants it doesn't mean its right.

  • He also apparently thinks homosexual people are the spawn of Satan and should be shoveled into furnaces lest they corrupt the virtuous.

So in short, I like some of his economic policies, but his interventionist social policies (trying to enforce one sect of one religion's ideas of social behavior on everyone else) would keep me from supporting him with a good conscience.

  • I like his principles, and he's more like the kind of Republican I approve of, but I disagree with him in some key ways.

For one thing, while it may be that Amtrak/MetroRail is getting handouts, I'd argue that those system do provide public goods (reduced pollution, increased development) that to some extent justify operating at a deficit.

Additionally, his stance on abortion is way too radical: a Palin-esque "no morning-after pill in the case of rape" position.

  • How is that Palin-esque?

  • Maybe if people would actually listen to why he stated he had to vote for the bill, they may understand things a little better. For years upon years, congress has done nothing to fix the main problems that caused this financial mess. Because of that he is forced to vote for the bill in order to provide a solution, albeit temporary. At this point we are so far into this that the only thing left to do is to treat the symptoms before they can tackle the origins of the mess, if they choose to.

  • Now I may b a democrat, but this is music to my ears...yes! congress is responsbile more than the president for what happened!

  • Both Congress and the President are responsible: Congress for exceeding its Constitutional authority and creating this mess, and the president for not vetoing the legislation that made it possible.

  • This is music to my ears! Sen.Coburn if you Run in 2012 I WLLL SUPPORT YOU 100%.

  • "I plan on voting for this bill..."

Is that the music you hear that leads you to say you will vote for Coburn?

  • America is bankrupt, the sooner we face the facts the better off the world will be.

  • I wish that Elisabeth Dole were like Tom Coburn instead she sells our party out, that bitch!

  • how can he support it...? morons leading the blind..

  • My thought exactly! He says it's malpractice, treating the secondary illness, and totally unconstitutional BUT he is still going to vote for the bill!!!

At the point I thought to myself, this guy should shut up, because he is a coward and hypocrite.

If he really believed what he was saying he would have voted no and resisted this unconstitutional act. But, even knowing that what he was doing was unconstitutional he knowingly and openly defied the constitution!

    Amazing!!!!

  • the days of America are close to over now

one year 2 at best is left

certainly by 2010 it will be over.

50- Trillion in fraud by American banks perpetrated on the world that are 100% guaranteed if they should fail and they have failed.

what is left is the fat ladies serenade,I can hear the band tuning up already listen...

  • If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your counsel nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen. Samuel Adams

  • As a physician he clearly never had a class on Constitutional Law. His interpretation of the First and Tenth ( not to mention 200+ years of Constitutional Law) are just dead wrong. Maybe he should read the decision in Gibbons vs. Ogden (1824).

  • "The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States."

  • I can't believe this country is going to pieces. damn, not another great depression. my history teacher told me that this upcoming one is going to be worse than in the 30s.

  • Absolutely amazing. "This is unconstitutional, but I am going to vote for it anyway." Sir, you are part of the problem.

  • AMEN, that's pretty f'ed up. this guy is so against what happened, then why the hell did he vote for it

  • Thats an over-simplification of his statement. He's saying 'we screwed up' and he's drawing attention to it. He's saying because of their actions they are in the position where they NEED to do something unconstitutional

  • I agree, we have screwed up because we have not followed the constitution. So what do we do, continue to ignore the rule of law?? That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

  • Yes. If you don't then the economy gets much worse. Im not saying its a perfect solution, just the lesser of two evils. Unfortunatly not everything is black and white.

  • This bailout will not save the economy. The core issues must be addressed and changed. In the meantime, and with additional plans, promises, and money, the market is continuing down. What we will end up with is the devaluation of the dollar. You cannot print money as the Federal Reserve has been doing. Merely look back into history with those countries who chose that path, or look at today in regards to Zimbabwe.

  • repay the foreigners for the fraud perpetrated on them or be leveled by the world.

the American dream is dead your nightmare is starting

  • you are a dirt bag piece of shit...

  • The American Dream died when Mothers raised children like you. You should be afraid....it gets really HOT where you're going. Talk about a nightmare, yours may not be starting but I would rather be me than to have to live your life wondering when my nightmare was going to come like a theif in the night and never look back.....

  • The economy would get much worse in the short-term, correct, and then become sound and stable. By continuing with the wrong action the pain will be longer and more severe. Instead of letting the market work and correct, we are heading toward massive hyperinflation and total economic collapse.

That is why Coburn should have stood immovable on constitutional principles. That and he swore an oath to to so.

We needed a man with courage, a true patriot. And all we got was a coward and hypocrite

  • Here's another truthful physician!

The other truthful physician that I know of is Dr. Ron Paul, congressman from Texas.

  • Worst President Ever song:

    watch?v=5JHbFQqSljE

  • Is he the "friendly opposition"?

  • Tom Coburn is a hypocrite! He voted for the Glass-Steagall repeal in 1999 that caused this mess. He promised term limits (when he was in the House), but then ran for Senate after his "promise".

Tom Coburn is guilty of helping the Wall Street billionaires at the expense of the American people and taxpayers. He is arrogant and condescending.

Nice speech Dr. Tom. Too bad the internet allows us to research your past votes.

  • Term limits!!!! That is what will turn this ship (Titanic) around!

  • Term limits will do NOTHING to turn this ship around. Nothing. We need people with principles. Congressmen and Senators ousted due to term limits would just turn around and work for the Lobbyists for the highest bid ....

  • Thank you Senator Tom Coburn for speaking the truth. You are one of the few true Statesmen in Washington.

  • Unbelievably false and dishonest drivle below. Read and weep for the American voter.

  • first step towards socialism. sadly if/when Obama gets elected we'll be moving closer.

i cant believe my senator (shadegg) voted aye on this garbage. Im willing to endure tough times if it preserves the america that i love so my kids will be able to enjoy it.

  • it doesnt matter, mccain, obama, they are the same

    lesser of 2 evils,,

they want u bash eachother, thats the whole point.. u should relized it people vs gov...

right now, i'm aint voting both of them

    i'm voting 3rd party..

    everybody should...

  • wackdeafboy, that was probably the most observant statement I've heard on these godawful comment boxes in a while. I agree, and was not going to vote. But I discussed it with my boyfriend and have decided that you cannot hold your vote hostage when one side plays so dirty. I can vote 3rd party in local elections this way, but I cannot tell the rest of the world that I didn't vote to at least show that I disagree with this administration.
