  • I have the internet security configuration with on access detection.

    It is the same?

    What is the difference?

Sorry for my bad english, i´m from Argentina!

  • I wish that Comodo had kept their interface from version 3...

  • what internet do you have because thats really fast!

  • Just wanted to say great review! Keep it up!

  • where can download the Comodo Leak test software?

Is that a stand alone package or is it part of one of thier other packages? If so, which one?

    Help!

  • @upcycle Download it on CNET

  • it wouldnt let me install chrome

  • Ran a scan with Comodo AV to get rid of a Rogue.

Heuristics set to High. Found the rogue with heuristics. Found a few other files. I quarantined and rebooted. IT ATE EXPLORER.EXE!!

    YAAAHHHHH!! I'm PISSED.

  • @Idolpurist UPDATE: Comodo DID NOT eat explorer.exe. My mistake. I went to Matt's site and saw that the new rogues Hijack the Registry in a way that causes any exe to not be able to run.

I had never seen this particular effect before. Apologies to Comodo. Matt offered a free registry fix on his site and that repaired the damage after I cleaned out all the malware.

  • my antivirus and spyware pack is comodo antivirus and firewall, windowsfirewall, avg, and spybot search and destry

  • I like comodo but how do i block programs gettin to the web i have sharin programs that i need to block almost all programs is not askin permision like zone alarm

  • Go to firewall in comodo and select define a new blocked application (select ur application, process etc and select apply.

    Hope that helps ^^

  • Can comodo protect your pc from keyloggers? if so how?

  • @Raffyyyy7 it will tell you that a program wants direct access to your keyboard if this pop ups just block it :)

  • When you ended up at the "Ask" search engine, Did you notice that most of the visible search-results were links to different Rogues? :D

  • This is a very old vertion of COMODO everything was doing by d+ FW now everything or almost everything is doing by the AV

  • UPDATE: I meant to say that I went to System Restore and chose an earlier date when everything was Normal. Then rebooted. Then went back to system restore and turned it off. Then rebooted again and turned it back on.

  • Just got Rid of Security Tool!! It wouldn't allow any AV or AM to install. I went into safe mode, then System Restore, then WIPED System Restore. Add CCleaner to get rid of TONS of junk files and Voila, a clean FAST PC!

  • Security Tool virus got past Comodo AV! Now I have to get rid of it for someone. I recommended Comodo for this person's PC. Just goes to prove that NO AV is perfect.

  • now is 42M (43,376,912 bytes) for 3.13

  • Comodo is great but a big too harsh.... I made a mistake of blocking a program and I couldn't find the settings to enable the program that I blocked, I lost time and effort and gave up so I uninstalled it.... So Im just running G-Data Total Care 2010 (the best anti-virus) and PC Tools 'Threatfire' firewall which kicks ass as a combo!

  • dumb question .. where do u get the infected links being tested ?

  • just go to google type malware domain list 1st result that pops up but im warning you if you dont have a virtual system then you shouldnt do it as if anything slips through they have some stuff that can really mess u up

  • is this a security company site or just a bunch of hackers ?

  • its a site where they post updated malware links all links on that site under malware domain list are malicious and should be treated with major cation i know ive already replied to you but i decided to post this info on comments page to inform others

  • Its a security company.

  • thats not a dumb question

  • Dont use Comodo antivirus!!! Its very crap but firewall and defence + are best!!!

Use Avira or Avast with comodo and you will get 99% secure computer because you have hips protection!!!

  • @PekuRules comodo detect some viruses i have and avast no. comodo is better than avast ( the version 3.13 of comodo ). Avira yes is better than comodo.

  • @PekuRules I agree,,I'm using Firewall and Defense +..Protects me also against ARP poisoning.I use Avira too

  • LoL 30 min video))

  • Comodo Rocks The House... & Lol When You Said If You Have Some Doopy Clients.. I Use Microsoft Security Essntials And Superantispyware Free.

  • Hey Matt do u have the Comodo Leaktest in ur bag of tricks ?? I haven't been able to find it even on Comodo's site

  • comodo owns for detection but sucks for updates

  • COMODO TAKES FOREVER TO UPDATE!!!

  • @DarrenGriffitt It Depends on your internet connection. if you have DSL or Broadband it's a fast download... if you have dial-up its going to take forever

  • can you make a video on reading taskmanager and how to read malware so we know what is dangerous

  • obama got the noble prize!!!

  • @ebildude123 This is because the average American is a fucking retard.

  • @ebildude123

He got it for doing nothing. So where's mine? xD

  • since 3.5 i think :D

  • comodo is no good for gaming.

  • i think that too , i mean COMODO its best free internet security so far but when i am starting Garena,Battlenet,World Of Warcraft or Heroes Of Newearth = all are online games i am getting disconnected or i cant connect at all.But i think that need to config in Comodo.Still COMODO FTW!!! :D

  • online armor is also good ' try ' .

  • You just don't know how to configure

  • kaspersky is the best

  • nope

  • No one cant beat COMODO!!!

  • online armor might..it just needs to go 64 bit already

  • I was just wondering is Comodo good as stand alone antivirus or its better to be combine with other programs (and wich one ? ) or can u tell the perfect Antivirus + Comodo who will not make problems one to an other? Btw respect to u Matt!!!

  • i dont think comodo is good without its defense+

  • hey matt can you do prevention tests for comodo 3.11 im liking it so far

    awsum vids :)

  • what's a TDSS??????

  • tdsserv is a Rootkit. A popular one.

  • AVG is USELESS!

  • you clearly don't watch mats vids or have a clue what you are on about, avg sucks.

  • free2pk is prob referring to AVG PAID version. It has Rootkit protection and other great features.

That said, it still doesn't come close to "owning" Comodo because Comodo is so Full featured and FREE. For those Pus$i#@ at AVG to exclude Rootkit and other protection from the free ver shows you how arrogant & greedy they have become. EVERY IT Pro used to recommend AVG Free. They longer can do that with a straight face and a clear conscience. AVG detection rate has gone down as well. Good.

  • Trying this for a while because i have recommended it to many customers/friends/family members and its worked great for them but i personally never used it after installing on theirs, just so everyone knows i have seen a couple of threatcast percantages for common used programs/services like "system" trying to connect to the internet etc! :D so far so good, thank you matt for you video reviews please keep doing what your doing!!!

  • Hey,

    You didn't configure Comodo right.

If you click where it says Stateful another box apears and then you change stateful to on-acess then you change the Hueristics to high.

  • that looks convising ill probbably get the pro firewall and the pro antivirus

once my one care expires next year in december

  • I think now I get it why malwarebyts blocked the attack but didn't remove it...when I scanned my system with malwarebytes ,it removed this guy from process "U.exe" that link installed 2 Trojans not one.. and malwarebyts identified one of them "U.exe" for this reason the attack was blocked..the other one is unidentified .."sys_dll.dll"...

for me I think real time protection is mandatory to protect you system from malware..

  • Hello Matt

I've tested all links on my system, using bitdefender 2009 , blocked them all except "z24/bot.exe" I think it's a rootkit ,it blocked the firefox, can't run it, I ran full system scan ,was useless ,I installed malwarebytes /full system scan also useless, final solution the magic machine combo fix removed that guy from process "sys_dll.dll" I've repeated the test with malwarebytes, enabled Real time protection , wow it blocked the attack as an ip infection.

  • Ok i have a brand new hp computer a week old i am running vista but i don't know which on i download for.vista 32 bit or vista 64 bit please reply fast

  • P.S i only want the firewall cause im using kapersky

  • it depends on the mother board

  • Comodo is the best antivirus and firewall ever. ok Nothing got past

  • Best firewall.... Possibly but I doubt it's the best anti-virus "ever".

  • Online Armor is the best free firewall/HIPS program in My opinion. It has more powerful features and passes more leak tests than Comodo and it gives clear explanations to the user. I have tried both programs.

  • But it cost money, and the free version doesnt even come near COMODO.

  • comodo has liek the best fire wall ever

  • THANK YOU COMODO DNS SERVERS!!

  • Is anyones youtube messed up? All the links and videos are at the far left side of my page

  • Nope.

  • on 888kermits question, my opinion is that the best way to go is to download the comodo firewal, not the antivirus, then download avira antivir for free.

  • u can install comodo as just your firewall and you will get that popup for everything that trys to install

the firewall has deffense plus it will notify you would have to allow the download yourself to let it get thru i use comodo as my firewall and avira as my av because it doesnt eat up to much rescources i keep spybot snd malware bytes and a copy of hijack this to run a fast check on new things but comodo also has a network monitor to view inbound outbound connections

  • wats better avira free or comodos antivirus?

  • Please no what is best thank you

  • use both :P

  • Firefox with NoScript and Adblock+, with Antivir & Comodo, I have very rarely found even spyware on my computer - I use Superantispyware which I hear is praised as a pretty good scanner. For extra paranoia I also have HijackThis installed - and have not found much anything in the past year I've been using this combo.

  • I would also think of getting Malware Bytes Anti-malware

  • lets say im downloading sum music from limewire(im not) and i download an infescted file will this also scan that?

  • Avast lets you do that :P

  • I wish they would add a button that would send the file to virustotal if Comodo doesn't know what it is, so you can see if it is bad or not.

  • 3.10 is now available, the AV is now starting to use family sigs. Please try this version Matt :-)

  • am secure? i use eset smart security as primary anti-virus and i also have microsoft security essentials which is compatable with eset microsoft support told me that and i have these just in case malware bytes ,super anti spyware pro ,a-squared,spybot S&D ,pc tools internet security and threat expert memory sccaner

am sure this is the best mix!!!!!:P

  • what happens if u click Quarantine and what happens if u click Remove on 16:26 ?

  • stop being an idiot, Mac do have virus.

  • is comodo internet security better than drive sentry?

  • COMODO Firewall, Antivirus, defense+ with Firefox and web of trust=100% secure computer. If you know what your doing like me and know how to identify a virus then your pretty much 100% protected.

  • You are never 100%.

  • Mac sucks.

  • you are never 100% secure the only way to be 100% is to wipe your hard drive every few and then

  • Yea. Now I use Kaspersky, Spyware doctor, Malwarebytes, Spybot and Adaware SE. For some reason SUPERantispyware doesn't work with windows 7.

NOTE: Im trying to get windows 7 to last as long as possible!

  • A word of advice...Adaware is garbage it cant get rid of anything....mrizos has a video where he reviews adaware, using a test pc full of ad malware and the problem does not go away.

    Waste of time

  • Yea I know. I have all thoes programs so when my PC gets infected I can scan with a LOT of programs in Safe Mode. So far, Windows 7 hasn't slown down and Kaspersky has been doing its job as far as I know!

  • also there is a tab above the free trial that has all there free products there is so much more to comodo you should look at it matt!

  • mrizos can you say to me that which is best free antivirus or firewall what you have used? I have Avira and sunbelt personal firewall.

    Sorry my english suck...

  • @PekuRules... I can tell you, for a free solution COMODO has been the best at prevention in my experience.

  • Agreed, comodo is the best. PERIOD.

  • If my parents did parental controls on my computer using comodo, I'd just delete and reinstall it.

But it has helped me. I've found many false detection though, and when I download something (say for example, I download World of Warcraft), I will get a bunch of errors, and in the end, I turn off Defense and Firewall settings. But if I'm not lazy enough, I will just go through all the connection alerts and allow them.

And I can't find the "Send to Comodo for analysis" part, either. =\

  • PLEASE SOMEONE ANSWER! MRIZOS! ANYONE!

I have Avira 9 free and Comodo firewall with D+.

There are these Security options in settings (Proactive, firewall, antivirus etc.). Which one of them should be enabled, when I have Avira as antivirus and Comodo as firewall?

Proactive is "best" security, but does it mean, that Comodo will also allow its own AV?

    PLEASE ANSWER!

  • Comment removed

  • when you put the proactive configuration the antivirus will automate putted in state full but you can manually put in disable or on-access

  • you shouldnt have more than 1 antivirus running at the same time, or installed.. trust me if the 2 are running then they will either not find everything, fight each other, or do not protect you to the best of each individual program's ability..

  • Now that I have more thoroughly tested Comodo Firewall 3.9.954.509, I can say with certainty that the HIPS product, AKA Defense + is AMAZING. With a sturdy AV that includes Antispyware (Avast Avira, Comodo, etc.), the likelyhood of your PC being penetrated by malware is practically NIL! Even Zero DAY threats have no chance against THIS Firewall.

I was sad about BOClean going away as a standalone app, but with This Firewall, I'll be just fine. Comodo Kicks Butt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i think comodo is blocking my window help an support and my got any suggestions.

  • Right click the Comodo shield and turn off Defense+ then get whatever you need, I'm guessing you blocked it with "Remember my answer".

  • When you are blocking those viruses, it says: "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."

Is that a good thing or is that saying it couldn't block it????

  • Umm...I think the keyword is "Windows cannot access" which means it was blocked, take a look at Matt's review on AppGuard and you'll see that too.

  • Mk just making sure.

  • Its because the virus is trying to access the file but it dont find the file so its says windows cannot access file. At all it means the virus is deleted

  • Im pretty sure Comodo gets there money from donations. This is crazy how do they make money?

  • i'm running on the free comodo firewall, only the firewall not the anti virus,it is good?

  • well do u have any1 other AV running? Cus i wouldnt rely on the firewall alone

  • The first version of Defense+ in comodo would protect us from the conflicker....yes I'm talking about the first COMODO firewall ever (Or the first one with defense+)

Randomfilename.dll is trying to execute a application, allow or block?

  • Listen to the voice LOL

  • @deadly1010P (

DOH ! missed that one, thanks

  • wow for comodo especially the last part

  • Stopzilla Is No Virus

  • Its rogue anti-virus software -.-

  • I Had Every Antivirus And StopZilla Is No Fake AntiVirus it's like supeantispyware

  • as usual Matt top review.

have you considered doing the following apps ,Online Armor free or paid and Sandboxie. keep up the good work.

  • @tonyf1971--he has done sandboxie

  • Hmm, My aunt Insisted on using Norton 2006. I sneaked and uninstalled it and in-stalled COMODO and Comodo found over 25 viruses and blocked 17 hacker attempts. Real nice norton (She got mad at me because she said she wasted her money on Norton 2006) LOL!

  • The best firewall i even see, aim very happy with comodo

  • So... With right settings Comodo FIREWALL and D+ will block all viruses!? I dont need AV??

  • Yes, Comodo Internet Security 3.9 will protect you (Make sure you have Pro-Active ON)

  • YOU DO NEED AV! I swear just install it! Without AV your not protected. COMODO has a SUPER good AV Btw! Found things Avira, superantispyware and malwarebytes missed! And avast, I'm so disappointed of it. It missed tones of things including smiley central. What Av doesn't find that? Avast!

  • COMODO, has a pretty bad AV no offense. It got a 90% of detection rate, leaving a HUGE 10% gap for vulnerabilities. I suppose Comodo was super lucky or it must have been a false positive. Avira's detection rate is 99.7, leaving a mere 0.3% gap.

  • I think psp4lifefull means like the defense+ Got lots of stuff or something that Avira missed - IDK. I use comodo for on-guard and Avira for manual scan (When you install Avira, do a custom install and tell it to NOT install the on-guard thing) and BAM you got the best of both worlds!

  • Hey Matt Please Would You Try Stopzilla Antispyware

  • StopZilla is useless and would defenently be a waste of time

  • stopzilla is like antivirus 2009. Its rogue-like. Fake!

  • PegHorse:

Shell Code Injections (Buffer Overflow Attacks) are NOT just for malware... They can happen in legitimate applications too. Winamp and Adobe in the past had a BO vulnerability which Comodo's BO protection did warn the user about.

    Cheers,

    Josh (3xist).

  • So which is better Avira or Comodo?

    Easy.

    Comodo!

    Why?

Because Comodo has a much higher chance of detecting unknown malware than Avira, Avira is just an average pure signature based AV.

  • I 100% agree! Thank you! Could not agree more! Comodo is just amazing..wow. Love it so much! It finds things avast, malwarebytes anti-malware AND superantispyware leave behind. Its overall the best AV+firewall EVER!

  • I'm using Comodo since very long times ago.

The ShellCode Injection is new features and great against Virus infection. If you run a Virus Win32 for example and your antivirus cannot detect it, Comodo will alert you about an attempt to make a ShellCode injection so what you have to do is to "Terminate it", then, you're clean even if the virus is unknown.

Just note that ShellCode Injection is never done by Trusted applications.

  • Thanks

  • wait a minute I thought your suppose to only quarantine when the virus is in your system already

  • Please reply, what's the difference between the configurations (say the internet security and proactive security?)

  • Internet Security is the entire suite

    Proactive is Defense+

    Antivirus is the Antivirus

    Firewall is the Firewall

  • Toady Comodo popped up about system trying to recieve connection from internet and there is threatcast ratings! "Allowed 70% Blocked 30%"

  • ASK toolbar is bad.. dont never download it :I

  • Nice Prevention!

  • So if I saved a exe file to my desktop and close the internet and ran it later, would tell me if it's possible maleware/spyware?

  • yup

  • yes, COMODO detects any malicious software or unauthorized software which makes changes to your system, actually the older version detects everything that wants to make change to the system, even another antivirus.

  • Why did you "not" show Virut in action?

  • Incredible review!

I will definitely consider switching to Comodo now.

    Thank you sooo much!

  • My guess about treat cast is that their depending on their community to give comments about your rating.

  • Users decisions are sent to Threatcast and added to their database for the next time a user comes across the same event. As far as I know, the problem is with Threatcast itself and not Comodo. They seem to fix the problem, it'll work for a few days, and then it goes down again. It is a rather new feature, so I guess you can't expect it to work 100% right off the bat.

  • Is it necessarily bad to have more than one anti-virus/firewall running? For example, I am currently running: McAfee Security, SUPERantispyware, MalwareBytes, and Windows Defender. So is it potentially useless to have this many security devices installed onto my computer? If so, which ones should I remove?

  • Its bad to have more than one antivirus or firewall running, YES! I just got comodo 3.9...Loving it! 15MB of RAM for a security suit FTW! I also use SUPERantispyware pro with it...Never had a problem! Ditch the mcafee though...Just make sure to have only one ANTIVIRUS or FIREWALL running at the same time! Anti-spyware and mal-ware is okay!

  • Oh wait never mind Comodo security suit only takes...8MB of RAM!

  • How much RAM? Thinking of taking off avast! On my machines with 1Gb of RAM and vista (damn dell and 60MB web-shield). COMODO seems REALLY good now! I've been using there firewall on all my computers for a year or so now with no problems. But really, avast has got to work on their system performance!

  • Witch one do you think is better?

Avira - free or COMODO free.

  • When I installed Comodo, my internet wouldn't work. (I'm on a different computer)

    So.. HALP

  • LOL Uninstall your old firewall...Even if you have 2 firewalls with 1 disabled they still will conflict.

NOTE: Windows firewall is shit and does not make a difference!

  • wish this was free :*( but the costly stuff is usualy better :P

  • it is free.

  • Ya man it is free

  • You Rock at doing reviews!

  • i dont know if this is reliable, but the color of the defense+ thing from comodo changes colors at the top, that might be the threatcast rating

  • GREAT REVIEW!!! :D

-threat cast works on vista..cause i have the firewall

-LOL... IEXPLORER.EXE got through..look at taskmanger on 27:39

  • Um because internet explorer is running? its the browser he is using..

  • no, IE is iexplore.exe

and the rogue URL, which was the 2nd last one had the process IEXPLORER.EXE...in all upper-case

matt clicked on block but i think it got through

notive IE had no 'r' at the end and it is not in uppercase

  • *notice

  • how much RAM does comodo takes

  • Another great vid man... I enjoy your vid...keep good work

  • hey matt,

Late June Microsoft are ditching One Care,

and instead they are releasing a free antivirus called morro. So can you please do a prevention on that when it comes out :D

    Thanks
