Thanks for the comment and reinforcement. I love wearing my knee pads, and these McDavid ones keep my knees tight, warm, and padded so when I drop to my knees on snow to wait for a friend it's NO PROBLEM. They are so low profile that no one knows I'm wearing them, which is nice for style, but I wouldn't mind if they did! Hey, I'm 54 now - it's all about being good to ourselves and preservation, lol!
I can't advocate wearing pads strongly enough, especially if you ride the pipe or other installations in the park, or if you like to attack the black runs where it's icy.
Even small falls on your knees can really make you timid for a week. I pad up just like I do when I skate or inline on concrete - that's helmet, knees, elbows, wrist guards, and for some time now, hip and tail protectors. I've never regretted that decision, but I've been glad of it many times!
