If you want my opinion, i couldn't give a shite if it was errupting or not lol... As soon as i saw one tiny puff of smoke, you wouldn't see my arse for dust.
Ya. It's because slides plug the vents and build up pressure. But they're constantly afraid it's really going to explode..... If a big slide fills it, then it really will.
I was there a few hrs before this happened, and remember thinking there was a ridiculous amount of smoke coming out it, didn't expect an eruption though.
what excellent luck. you lucky people to have been there AS IT ERUPTED! understand the fear in your childrens' voices...but they just saw nature, red in tooth and claw. only rock-based.
@californiaa33 I was there 2 months before this happened. I was there in April 2008. My grandpa owns a Finca I believe the area he resides in is named "Los Palos Alto" and from there he has a good view of the volcano. It was steadily smokin white for the whole 2 weeks I was there in Nicaragua.
ok kids back on the bus, field trips over.

It's not really an eruption... There hasn't been a lava flow since 1772.
myvoiceknowskungfu 3 years ago
not all eruptions have lava flows. there are such things as fumarole, strombolian, and plinian eruptions that dont always have them

We went there last week and they told us that it hasn't erupted in 200 years. Nice.
