  • i have an important questrion regarding my 2004 xr250r. where is the drain bolt for the engine oil located?

  • hey, when i went to check my oil on my crf250x when i took the dipstick off after warming the bike up for a couple of minuets. there was a bit of white smoke coming out of the case were the dipstick enters. i was wondering if you would have any idea about what it is?

  • Do I have to replace the oil filter every time I change the oil?

  • Hey guys......nice vid.......i have a crf450x

i think that's one 2 but just to be sure

i can do it the same way right?

  • @hiddengtr - this is a 250x. your engine oil drains from the lower-rear magneto cover bolt instead of the bottom like this bike. Otherwise, it is pretty much the same. Refer to our manual.

  • @RockyMountainATVMC thank you very much........i did not get a manual when i bought the bike but i do have a 2006 crf450x manual and mine is a 2007.....wondering if it's the same?

  • can you please do a spark plug change on an 06 crf 250r?

  • hey i bought an 83 honda cr80 and i would like to do an engine oil and gearbox oil change but i dont have the owners manual so i dont know how much to put in. could anybody help please?

  • do you have to change the oil on a motocross bike thats being trail ridin as much as you said that you do?

  • what if the motocross bike is being used as a trail bike and is not riden super hard but just intermediate ridin

  • why is it you have to change the oil in motocross bikes so much more than trail bikes?

  • @99loganpage - it depends on the bike. many race bikes don't hold much oil (to keep them light) so they need to be changed more often. Also, they are usually riden harder.

  • Hi i need some help please ... Do i need to use diferent caind oil for transmision and engine or just one for both please let me know what oil

  • @DIEGO262922 - refer to your manual. You can run the same in both if you use a quality motorcycle specific motor oil.

  • how often do you have to change your trans oil and engine oil?

  • @dirtbikerider2015 - refer to your manual. I change mine every 2-300 miles on my trail bike. Every few rides on my motocross bike.

  • @dirtbikerider2015 i do 6 for my engine oild and like 10-12 for transmisson

  • @snowboardingrules1 days? rides?

  • @dirtbikerider2015 nope hour's lol

  • how often do you have to change your oil filter

  • I'm really sorry I hate the auto correction on my iPhone !!

    Thanks for the help !!

  • What brad would u recommend ???

  • @Patito07stntr - Brad Pitt, but I think you meant brand. Honda oils are great. you can't go wrong with maxima or belray either.

  • Is the oil the same on the gearbox and the engine ??

  • @Patito07stntr - it can be as long as you use a quality motorcycle motor oil.

  • @RockyMountainATVMC does to little oil in the engine affect the clutch and if so is it temporary (dutch)

  • @nick26695 - too little could cause more heat which could fry it.

  • is that crf street legal? and i just bought a trx450er 2007 and when i took the tranny bolt out no oil came out is that good

  • @rohockeykickass - yes it is legal here in Utah. if oil doesn't come out, it could mean there is no oil in there. That certainly isn't a good thing.

  • why does a crf150rb have two oil drain bolts, i read in previous posts that one is for the engine oil and one is for tranmission oil. However, the one for the tranny oil there isn't a dipstick so how do i check it?

  • I have a crf250r, does it take the same oil in the engine as it does in the tranny? I know my trx did, but ive just recently made the sirtbike transition. Thanks

  • @Tootsierolltroll - the manual calls for pro Honda motor oil in both, but you can run a motorcycle transmission oil in the transmission.

  • @Tootsierolltroll hey i have a crf450x and i a oil from belray that you can use in your engine and gear box it makes it easy so you dont have to keep buying different oils

  • i have a 2007 rmz250, is it the same process to change the oil?

  • @stevensagasty - Not the same, but similar. Refer to your manual.

  • i have a 08 rmz 250 and i have read the manual but it doesnt say anything about the transmission. So i was wondering if anyone knows if the motor oil and transmission oil are mixed

  • @kdbronc - Just like the yamaha, they are the same. Use a good motorcycle motor oil.

  • @rockymountainatvmc what kinda of oil do you use for the transmission and engine?

  • @Tool20001 - usually the Pro honda motor oil in both.

  • My old shop teacher drilled into our heads the 5 purposes of oil ,Ive found one more which makes 6 ,Do you know what they are?

  • how often do u have to change the oil on crf 150 rb ifyou only ride it like 9 times in 6 months and by they way i dont race

  • @HondaCrf150RBRacer - refer to the manual. i change mine every few rides.

  • hi i need some help with how often i should change my engine oil

i own a basically stock 2004 kx250f, only thing ive changes is exhaust to fmf pipes

i always ride on the track and rarely trail

if im riding at 3 hour time frames twice per week

    nice vid very helpfull

  • i have a crf150rb and i have oil leaking from one of the tubes that hang down it isn't leaking now but i don't know a descent amount came out what is the problem? please respond!

  • @thatpatrickdude0 - It depends on what hose it is coming from. It is most likely a breather hose or overflow hose, which may be normal.

  • @RockyMountainATVMC i was looking but could it be from to much oil on the air filter because i cleaned my air filter and oiled it and let it sit for 15-20 minutes and then put it in and came back the next day and some kind of oil was on the garage floor------- it was not the same as my air filter tho

  • how often do you change the oil on a yz250f with a wet sump

    please reply

  • @ben1996ful - I change my WR250f every 150 to 200 miles since they only hold abut a liter of oil. Refer to your manual for the manufacturer's recomendations.

  • how much do u put in a crf 150 f?

  • ok say it's new original when must be change ? and i put 1.6 L oil when i replace wis oil filter ana witout filter i''m puting 1.4L that righit every 2 weeks i 'm doing that ! i want 2 know when must cz when i'm replacing the oils down in a good condition ! i'm from lebnon i don't know 2 speak gd english : ) thx

  • hey bro ! i have a baja250cc honda when i will change oil in kilometre !! ??1000 or 2000 kilo ?

  • @911samo - You will need to refer to the manual. I have no idea how much oil it takes. Sometimes it will give the measurement on the engine case near the fill hole.

  • hey bro ! i have a baja250cc honda when i will change oil in kilometre !! ??1000 or 2000 kilo ?

  • is the engine oil the same as transmission oil.

  • did i get ripped of i bought a oil filter for my ttr230 and it was like $40

  • @ben1996ful - We sell them for $5.99 for that particular bike. So you make the call whether or not you got ripped off.

  • Can you clean the oil filter? Or do u just have to buy a new one?

  • @funmontelJJ - buy a new one. They are only a few bucks.

  • @RockyMountainATVMC can someone tell me what kind of transmission oil should i use for my honda crf250r Thanks!

  • @HKrider218 - Since that bike has seperate motor and tranny oil, you can either run a good motorcycle motor oil or a motorcycle gear oil (like Belray Gear saver). make sure to only use motor oil in the motor oil compartment.

  • @RockyMountainATVMC hello there, i have a honda lead 04 plate, what oil should i use for that please?

  • @AlbanianBorn - I am not sure what you are talking about. What is a "honda lead 04 plate"?

  • @RockyMountainATVMC honda lead is a type of motorbike, 04 plate means the year wich is registred so its 2004, and i think its got a 4 stroke angine,so i just wanted to know what oil i should use,

  • what is the year of the bike is the same on a 2002?

  • @lamaspanda - it is a 2005 250x. similar to 2002 450r.

  • Fantastic. Sooo soo helpful

  • how to you measure 16 foot pounds? i only have a normal socket and i just estimate how tight i do it.

  • i just bought a crf 250 r and i was reading on here that you use a recomended synthetic oil for bikes... well i was wondering the guy told me he has been using Mobile 1 15-50 synthetic for the motor oil... and PJ1 clutch tuner 80w for the tranny what do you think of using these products? i really don't want to change oil types i feel as if its hard on things and post or comment will help

  • @Iowasledder - both oils would work fine for that bike. The Honda oils recomended in the manual also work great. There are tons of options with oils.

  • so is the oil for the engine the same for the transmission

  • @bsavage14 if you don't the oil will come out of where the filter is and it makes a big mess

  • Do you have to drain the oil to take out the oil filter?

  • maintenance wise should i get a 2 stroke or 4 stroke

  • I Have a crf 100f 2009 and us there trani oil and engine oil?

  • so the tranny oil is on the right side and engine oil on the left? I have a 2007 trx450er

    Thanks

  • i have a kxf250 do you have to change both oils every 6 hours or just the tranny oil every six hours

  • @corster360 - I didn't think the KX250f separted the tranny and engine oil. I don't think the KX is like the honda.

  • @ironpony88 - yes you could; however, a synthetic is great for your motor, but not so much for the clutch. Synthetics tend to make clutches slip a little easier. You can run a motorcycle non-synthetic motor oil in your transmission.

  • what year is this bike?

  • so when getting the correct reading (dipstick unscrewed in) is it in between the marks or should it be on the full mark?

  • @rotang15 - as long as you are in between, you are fine. Top line won't hurt either.

  • @RockyMountainATVMC thanks mate

  • How long does it take to drain the transmission oil on a crf 450x. I tried draining it and it seemed drained, but when i opened the oil check bolt oil was still flowing out. How can i fix this problem.

  • @jasoncruz110011 - It certainly helps to drain the oil when the engine is warm. The warm oil flows out much faster.

  • what trans oil do i use for a 05 honda trx450r?

  • @Xxjapanda125xX - refer to your owner's manul. I would just use GN4.

  • How often should you replace the oil on a 2004 CRF250R

  • @ehm2424 Every 2 or three rides.

  • Is this the exact same way to change the transmission oil and motor oil in a 2007 Crf450r?

  • @thomass151 - "exact"? I prefer the word "similar". Your transmission oil drain bolt is in a different spot (left side of case).

  • how many hours do u change your oil at?

  • @jessedog691 - it depends on the bike. Refer to your manual.

  • @RockyMountainATVMC yea but how many hours do u do that bike at?

  • @jessedog691 every 15hrs

  • wish u could make the same video on a yfz 450 since im getting ready to shop for what i need to do my own oil changes and since lots of people own those .

  • @Moroccan4lifeone - Refer to the owner's manual. yamaha has great manuals.

  • @RockyMountainATVMC i did its not very clear whether it has a crackcase oil seperate from engine oil "tank"2 different pouring holes one of the engine oil tank and the other for the crankcase. would u know know anything about it?

  • @Moroccan4lifeone - the tranny oil and engine oil are not separate like they ar on the honda. However, you most likely have 2 drain plugs. One on the cases and one on the oil tank.

  • @RockyMountainATVMC i know i have to drain both my main concern is : are they both using the same oil manual doesnt clarify that and if so do i fill from the oil tank or the crank opening?

  • @Moroccan4lifeone - Seeing how they share the same oil, yes you use the same oil. you should just fill it at the cases, but confirm with the manual.

  • I changed the oil but if seems to be missing a fuel filter is this bad ? and I also can't find the neutral

  • Hey I have a 1989 Honda NX 125 and I can't find the Drain Plug ANYWHERE on the freakin engine, its not under it or on the sides !!!!, the bolts all hold the engine together and I can't f*cking find that Shit, my oil is turning black and I need to change it !!! HELP

  • @sunnycloud69 - on the left side of the engine under the crank there is a large nut where the oil filter screen is. Pull that out with the filter and you should be able to drain it.

  • @RockyMountainATVMC Thanks I changed my oil but . . . I didnt find any filter . . . is that bad ?

  • how about oil an oil change for some atv's like the yfz 450? does it also have seperate tranny/engine compartments? oils are obviously going to be different.

  • What happens if you over fill it ?

  • i just got a set of tusk nerf bars for a 07 yfz 450 se "special edition" and its not fiting . would appreciate it if u could make a few videos about yfz 450's thanks.

  • how often do you wanna change your oil?

  • @Kingmaconha - It depends on the bike. Refer to the manual.

  • @RockyMountainATVMC Well, is it bad to change your oil to often.

  • @Kingmaconha - I can't imagine fresh oil in the engine could be bad.

  • Can i use Rotella t synthetic 5w-40 in my 2004 honda crf250r?

  • @24gilby24 - sure

  • Hello Rockymoutian i got a quiestion... my bike seems fine when for the first hour or so.. but when it get's hot is always like im a to high of a gear... example when im going up hils in 3 gear it feels like my bike is in 5 gear and the bike turns off ...

u know what the problem is ?

  • is this the same porocess as a 2009 crf450r ???? i cant find a service manual any were.

  • @notingXworks - similar. The drain bolts are in slightly different locations.

  • hello, I recently bought a used 1995 Honda XR600R. Can you tell me how to check/change oil ? I can't even find where the oil dip stick is? i found a dip stick at the handle bars, not sure if that is for the engine oil. Any help would be great.

  • @JoelShelby - You need to invest in an owner's manual. If you have a dipstick in the frame of the bike, then you have a "dry sump" oil system. Meaning a reservoir of oil is held in the frame (common on many 4-strokes). You can only check the oil height when the bike is warmed up. Warm it up and wait about a minute, then check the dipstick. You most likely have a drain plug in the fram (bottom front) and in the engine.

  • do you have to change the tranny oil every time you change the engine oil

  • @350zdemon - Refer to your manual.

  • @RockyMountainATVMC

    how often do i have

to change the oil in a motocross bike?

  • hey, i was just wondering what oil you used in the tranny and what oil you used in the motor?

  • @cuzyrocks - there are several oils that will work fine. i usually run Pro Honda Hp4.

  • YEAH ROCKY MOUNTAIN IS THE SHIT PPL IM GETTING NEW BOOTS AND JERSEY TMRW

  • What types of oil go into the motor and gears???

  • thats for a crf 450 r i'm wondering about

  • How often should I change the oil filter?

  • @Dolmanation - refer to your manual. Some guys do it with every oil change and some guys do it every other. I do it every time. We have filters for around $3.

  • are the crf450r trany and Motor Oil separated or not

  • @bobisbackinblack2555 - they are separate on that bike.

  • I have 03crf150f, i only found 1big24mm drain plug near shifter, where is the other drain plug?and what is that drain for? thanks.

  • @asommer14 - That bike most likely only has one drain plug. It does not seperate the transmission and engine oil like the CRF250 and CRF450 does.

  • @WESTCOASTSURFANDTURF whats a crush washer?

  • @coshyno - the copper or aluminum washer on the drain bolt. It should be changed eventually if it gets too smashed.

  • how often do you have to change the oil on a trx450r ?

  • @coshyno - Refer to your manual.

  • where is the drain bolt for an 07 crf 150r?

  • @jasoncruz110011 - on the bottom of the cases.

  • Why did u pull in the clutch, you were in nuetral cause u never shifted

  • Great video, really good and detailed instruction thank you very much!

  • what kind of oil would you recommend for a 2007 yz250f? I dont race. Could i use 10W-40?

  • @hovchov123 - refer to your manual for the correct type. make sure to use a quality oil made for motorcycles. I am sure 10w-40 would be fine as long as it is the right quality. I use Pro honda, yamalube, maxima, or Belray in my bikes.

  • @RockyMountainATVMC where is the drain plug or screw for the engine oil on a crf450r honda? not on the bottom for sure

  • @motomallslp - tranny oil drain is behind the shift lever on the side case. The engine oil drain is on the magneto cover (rear bottom bolt) - also on the left side.

  • tighten chain

  • what is a good transmission and engine oils to use in my 2003 crf450r

  • @jspagzzz323 - refer to your manual for the best recomendations.

  • Hey thanks for the vid, very helpful

  • how much oil do you put in a 2007 crf150r?

  • @hondaridergeorge Just a splash over a quart should be fine, 1.2 quarts

  • @jigmesam thx m8, but a quater of what?

  • @hondaridergeorge a quarter of a gallon

  • @jigmesam sorry i read it wrong, what is a quart?

  • @hondaridergeorge I found that information through searching google, I suggest you at least try. Did you try searching for "what is a quart?" in any search engine? Did you search for CRF150R oil capacity or manual? Give it a shot!

  • @hondaridergeorge - a unit of measurement. It equals aproximatly 946 mililiters.

  • do i need to change the oil filter everytime i change oil ?...sorry never been on a bike before :D

  • yes you do its like every 2 months its best to chang oil, the filter is like 10 - 20 dollera

  • @Rocksolidvb - We sell really good filters for the CRF for less than $4.

  • great ill defiantly buy some if their at that price

  • is this the same process on my 2005 crf230f

  • @paintballer2X5 - similar, but not the same. your 230f only has one oil compartment, so it is much easier. Refer to your manual.

  • How about on yamaha yz250f? im buying one this week. i only had to drain and fill the fluids on my KX85. do i have to drain/ fill it in 2 spots now? Thanks.

  • @Honda1785 - I just filmed an oil change on a WR250f - which is basically the same as your YZ. The YZ only has one oil compartment (unlike the CRF with 2). The transmission and engine oil are shared in the YZ 4-strokes. make sure you use a good engine oil like yamalube 4r.

  • on my 2007 crf250r i can use the same oil in the engine as in the transmission correct?

  • @f18pilot420 - As long as it is the recomended Motor oil. you can't run transmission oil in the engine.

  • This is easily the most informative and retard proof video of how to change oils on a crf on youtube! top video!!!! anyone know where i can get one of those billywho man funnel things in the uk?

  • does it matter if you screw the dip stick on to check the oil level? Wouldn't it give the same readings?

  • @Trapv2 - make sure you check to see what your manual calls for. No it won't give the same reading. Threading it on puts it deeper in the hole, thus raising the oil line on the dip stick.

  • I have a crf250r and i was wondering if uput the same oil in your engine as the transmission

  • yup u do

  • @cruzzinsh2 - you certainly can. you can also run a motorcycle specific transmission oil in your transmission if you want (like the 2-strokes use).

  • Comment removed

  • i have a question, after draining my transmission oil for the first time from my used crf450r, the drain bolt would not go in and i found it to be stripped. Probably the previous owner overtightened it. What should i do? plzz help this is my baby
