You are ambitious then are you and ambition different things? Look at it this way. I am violent. Then am I different from violence? I am greedy then greed and me are the same. That is the real meaning of TAT TWAM ASI. In fact I am not different from my qualities, my characteristics, my idiosyncrasies. If 'me' the thinker and his thoughts could be looked at in this way then a qualitative change, a mutation takes place in the psyche of man. Guru Ganesan himself needs to understand this.
So the Self which is glaringly obvious as the present being-occupant but was constantly overlooked because of the wrong identification with the body and its supposed non-investigated non- occupant or non-entity, used to be known as the thought "I" or the ego. But when investigated carefully was found to have never been present and the real occupant, the unobjectifiable Self was recognised as the ever present true I. Confusion fled and Clarity which never ever left was restored.
Tat tvam asi or That you ARE means minus the body and minus the name/ego/soul//thought I. The remainder is the pure silent "I am" (aham) which is not the body and not the person/thought I with a name. Balance left is I am that I am, which is real and ONLY Self. The ego is not present even now except as a thought. The ego has never been present ever. Even now there is only the pure Self or I am. If investigated carefully there is really no confusion just like the 10th man was never lost.
