Isn't it weird how we consider "woof" onomatopoeia for a dog's bark, but no dog actually says "woof"? Then there's dubstep, which never actually makes the wub sound, but we associate them anyway. And here we have a Drum and Bass piece that uses Wub almost exclusively, and people get mad if you say it's dubstep. WTF?
@GoreCrowVII The genres have fairly different song structures, rhythms, melodies and progressions. Dubstep tends to be "Let's put a bunch of random noises together" with a simple beat, while DnB tends to be a lot more controlled and precise, with more complex beats and melodies. They do have some similarities and can be mixed, but it's like comparing rock to black metal simply because of similarities in instruments imo.
@SquigleMcBiggles No, I totally get that. I understand that it's not dubstep, I was merely pointing out the irony of a sound ("wub") distinctly associated with dubstep being used in Drum n Bass. If it were actually a common sound to use in techno music, I would not have even noticed, but there is the MYTHICAL wub. I haven't even heard it in ACTUAL dubstep, let alone its underappreciated genre-siblings.
