Oh yes - I forgot the titles state this unit has 1000 bhp per 2000 lb. Tell us the weight of this cart so I can laugh at how lame this run is shaping up to be. Hey - I'm sure you did fine for a chick, but this cart obviously has much more in it. Either that or you're lying about the power.
It may well be lame in your oppinion, but I honestly think you should just appreciate for a second how different this is going to be to "drive". You control motorcycle throttle & clutch with yout feet not your hands which are god knows how much more sensitive than your feet, that makes even pulling away a complete mission.Handling is toot as there is no suspension. (The blade was featured in bike form in streetfighters mag years ago) You should come and see it. You'd like it :)
@ducati916chick i dont think that dick understands that 130mph in a go cart is insanely fast. it takes big balls to do that. and also 9.4 is about a second faster than a liter bike.
There are so many reasons why this is a bigger deal than a stock zx14. The engineering behind this kart is more than you could imagine. This is a kart...no suspension, 6 inch wheels/tyres, controlling bike throttle/clutch with your feet that you wold normally control with your hands, power to weight, the turbo coming on boost etc. It's an art just pulling away i this thing. It was so much fun to pilot-we turned the crowd from laughing to literally bowing down after our runs :)
@ducati916chick I'm still unimpressed. In the 9.4 range, you should be doing low 150's for trap speed. Also, if that is a turbocharged Fireblade engine, it should be putting out enough hp to run rings around a stock ZX-14. What kind of "unimaginable" engineering is involved in making this thing? If you can't lay down a faster time than a stock ZX-14 with less horsepower, it's a dog. Otherwise, it's just a cool vehicle with a chick driving. A guy would probably do much better...
@beeroosterm what zx14 are you talking about? they run high 9's. you also have to figure that on a kart the tires are much smaller and transfer much more torque so it makes it almost impossible to take off. thats why top fuel dragsters run like 36 inch tires.this kart could be good for high 8's with taller tires.
Thank you very much. It's difficult to appreciate just watching this video how tricky it is to actually "drive" this thing.
Keeping it in a sraight line is near impossible too-since most of the vehicles are considerably larger than the little kart, it tends to fall in and out of tram lines you wouldn't otherwise know about in a regular car doing a "fun run"
Hey Dan, suprisingly you have no idea that you are going that fast because it's all over so quickly. I couldn't believe it when I ran this time, was super chuffed.
@ducati916chick Hey becci nice vid, do u have a ducati 916? I have a ktm 200 sx road legal :) power wheelie off throttle 1st to 4th n could easily pop up in 6th, i think 0 to 60 mph about 4 or 5 secs because it hard keep wheel down :D im getting a gsxr 750 in october anyways :) a hayabusa turbo would probably beat this time u reckon? How old are you by the way? :)
Sorry for my slow reply-I haven't been getting many email updates from YT.
I don't think a turbo'd busa engine would be quite as fast, this kart took quite alot more engineering from my friend than most people realise, and a busa turbo would struggle for traction more so than our blade turbo'd engine.
I am 25 in a couple of weeks, but I was 21 when I did this 1/4 mile run. I did have a 916SPS, loved her :) Owned her for 5 years, then bought a K6 GSXR1000-hate it :(
@ducati916chick oh kool im 20 I have my gsxr 750 k6 now love it 750 fast enuf you cant keep wheel down in 1st at high revs so a 1000 useless unless u racing above 100mph :D why you hate the gsxr 1000? Anyways this kart be more fun on road than anything, bet be most fun ever lol
You're right hun, this kart is the fastest 4 wheeled vehicle I have ever "driven". My friend has a GT3RSR (YUM) but I've only been passenger :)
Eer, I am only a sz10 girlie, so pretty pettit (and not very tall @ 5'5", so I struggle on the gixxer. The duke was nice and slim, I could touch the floor without messing with stupid lowering kits that mss up the geometry. I feel too tiny on the gsxr. You're right, 1000's are for the track (but I live next to BrandsHatch) :)
Unfortunately I don't think it will as the kart has been sold now and soon off to South Africa. It may make one more appearance at Santa Pod this year but I am not sure.
It's more than capable of the 8 second time but the track has to be perfectly prepped and so far USC08 was not warm enough.

Hey - no offense guys, but a stock Kawasaki ZX-14 with a good pilot and a few mods (straps, etc.) will do mid-9's. What's the big deal?

Given the rediculous power-to-weight of this thing, that was deffinitely and excellent launch. Good run!
