Rank in the koryu is more about initiation into the ryu than skill. Does not necessarily mean one is good or bad. This is the more traditional way of ranking, aside from touching on the issue of menkyo certificates.

How is this fake? It's a cut with a draw. Which is done in a lot of Iaijutsu practice.(Which was practiced mostly by guards/bodyguards of feudal times)

@jadewillow what is your experience in any sword school I wonder? This guy is considered an expert by a lot of guys in Japan. He was one of the youngest 8 dan in kendo. Who are you actually to criticize he's technique? I might be wrong and you might be a great swordsman, but let us also know. Cause it seems to me you are just an armchair warrior.

His Bio...At the age of one year, Kuroda Sensei began his training in his family's system of martial arts, or ryu-gi, of Shinbukan Kuroda Dojo, under the instruction of his grandfather, Yasuji Kuroda, and his father, Shigeki Kuroda. At the age of twenty, Kuroda Sensei was awarded Hanshi Hachidan in Kobudo by the Dai Nippon Butokukai. This was a national record in Japan for such a young person to be given such a high rank.

@jadewillow This guy is NO Hatchi Dan in Kendo! Second...at the age of twenty he might become a Hatchi Dan in his OWN family's system.... and this might be something of a great achievement...BUT..... IMO should never.".Ever" be compared to achieving the rank of HatchiDan in Kendo... They don't even look at you serious till your 50 and have years of teaching and tournaments under their belt.... reaching a 7th Dan is all but impossible let alone 8th.....

excellent speed draw, execution and control. it's dangerous to trian with bokken like that but the victor always seemed to be in control. this shows what can happen if you highly train a few select moves.
