  • please continue to make videos like these. they always get me motivated, as well as others

  • how is it possible to dislike this video

  • @bedhockey14 The constant waving around of notes and papers is worse than helicopter effects in Powerpoint. D=

  • @Zeldakitteh i wasn't talking about the production value but i see ur point.

  • Currently there are about 6,865,046,790 people on earth, there will be 7,000,000,000 in 2011,and while the population is still increasing, the earth stays pretty much the same. Forget malaria we need a fucking war to keep things stable, there's just too many people.

  • @Diretrym rightdical

  • interesting video

  • Why are we trusting this to Bill Gates? He can't even get the bugs out of Windows, let alone Africa!

Stopping Malaria won't magically make starvation and war go away. Forget about combining nets and sprays. We need to combine building education systems, legitimate governments, communication infrastructure, and other facilities necessary for a self-sustaining nation.

Focusing on one single issue will solve nothing. Malaria is nature's way of saying "YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG"!

  • @sth128 If I could vote this up a hundred more times, I would.

  • @sth128 Dude, less dead kids is awesome. Fuck you.

  • @FaBFaB66 Yes it is. Think of the ones not born yet :)

The pope telling Africans to not use contraception is more a of a problem.

Disease is a natural reaction to badly-dealt-with population growth.

That said I still think it should be prevented, but it is like thinking about how to deal with smoke when you could put out a fire.

  • @FaBFaB66

Less dead kids would be awesome, until they are forced to take drugs and pick up an automatic assault rifle at the age of 10.

Many parts of Africa simply do not have the necessary infrastructure to support a bigger population. This leads to civil conflicts and warring factions fighting each other for food and resources.

Look up child soldiers, blood diamonds, or weapons trade in Africa. If the world's problems can be solved by simple nets and sprays, they would not exist at all.

  • @sth128

    Great comment!

  • @sth128 america had malaria in the past but was eradicated from the country. Why do you want to hinder some one who is trying to make progress. What makes have the right to insult a man who's trying to save lives? why don't you go into the heart of Africa close to the congo river and get malaria. Then see through the eyes of a regular poor infected without medication how it feels. If you have a child do you want him or her to have aids, malaria, or any form of suffering they have to endure .

  • @asianforce

Where exactly did I say I want to hinder efforts to stop Malaria? I said curing Malaria won't solve all of Africa's problems. Curing Malaria won't solve their gun violence, civil unrest, or lack of credible governing system.

Furthermore, curing Malaria will do nothing to stop poverty, lack of education system, or turn Africa into a self-sustaining entity.

By all means cure Malaria. I'm just saying that's a symptom, not cause. Just like locking up criminals won't stop crimes.

  • @sth128 well most of these countries are only 50 years into independence. How long did it take America and European countries to get the way it is now. Are these not the same ones that supplied the guns since slavery. Or the many corporations worldwide that provide the ills for the natural resources, test subjects, and for the benefit of the worlds well being. Humanity started in Africa and Humanity will end there. I have many issues with your comments but the topic is malaria. gr8 vid!

  • @sth128 The spread of illnesses wouldn't help a nation to sustain. Malaria is a common illness in undeveloped countries. Your right about building legitimate governments etc., yet we have to have a healthy population to do that. I think what I'm trying to say is we need to think of the well-being of the people before they can focus on anything else.

I'm also afraid that war and starvation will always be a issue.

  • @sth128 We focus on this issue because it is preventable and because people DIE from the parasite. To me, that is reason enough.

  • We erradicated the damn thing usuing DDT in North America.

The problem is we completely abused it, leading to mass fear-mongering and eventually the banishment of the substance.

Those God damned nets won't follow you everywhere you are.

  • is it just me or was the text to fast to read. Yeah yeah i know you can pause the video. But it would have been nice if it was slowed down just a tad bit so that i dont have to pause.
