  • Hilaririous. shows how bad the Island has got under IWCC When Ryde had its own borough council there was civic pride and this filth would not have been tolerated. Thats progress for you!

  • From Me: -

He also said we have the longest daylight hour's too aparantly, which seemed to be the main thrust of his trumpeting us as a place of excellence.

What a plonka. Was he saying all of this from a villa in the south of France? Where did he take his last holiday?

  • While we are on the subject of family holidays the island as we know has prisons housing pedophiles and other sex offenders, when they are released if they don't want to return to their former hometown the local authority where they have been incarcerated is obliged to house them....very reassuring for families coming to the Island on holiday - The Pedophile of Wight?

  • especially as the credit crunch means more people are holidaying closer to home.

But he's urging Islanders to play their part in encouraging tourism. As Isle of Wight Radio reported last week he wants us to smile at visitors to promote the Island as a friendly family environment for holiday makers.

His comments come despite recent concerns that the Garden Isle may appear outdated when compared to other coastal areas.

  • Well his rantings have certainly got me smiling....talking about sandy beaches Rydes is now so stony I think he could be had under the trade description act for referring to it as such.

As for family friendly an integral part of the family is the family pet, ie dog, but any family bringing a dog on holiday to the island is in for a nasty shock when they discover how this shameful excuse for a council persecute dog owners.

  • It was decided that "Bilbo", our people friendly, well trained 7 month old Golden Labrador, be kept in kennels for the holiday back here in Leicester.

Tough to do but we knew what woukld happen and yet, as said too much on holiday, this Island really HATES dogs doesn't it?

Thing is, normal folk live here too...what will happen to mans best friend then?

BTW, I see a Border Collie alot, is it yours per chance?

  • Post broken up due to U Tube limit

From Isle of Wight Radio Today: -

"There's still life in the bucket and spade holiday"

That's the conclusion from Isle of Wight Council as it sets out it's economic plans for the next 12 years.

Deputy Leader of the Authority, Councillor George Brown, thinks our sandy beaches are still up there when it comes to choosing a holiday

  • Any relation to Gordon Brown?

Yes I willbe returning but DAMN, places need to be looked after or this Island paradise is dead!

  • This just about sums up the IOW Council, we have to pay the council tax here and it is spent on anything to do with tourism but anywhere the tourists don't go its a case of who cares?

We are continually told the economy here is dependent on tourism, which equates to an underclass of people working for a wage they are unable to live on and are consequently dependent on state benefits in order to subsidies other peoples cheap holidays.
