pretty sure this is not a baritone Manzer, I have one of her wedge models, she used to work with Jean Larrivee, there is a family thread thru all these guitars?
A greater talent then that plagiarizing old bastard Dylan. I remember reading The Canadian Magazine back in the 70s where Bruce had decided not to sell himself off to the American factory system, and we're forever blessed by his knowing himself and where the line had to be drawn. Thanks for being Canadain from a Canadian.
My moms boyfriend took us to see Bruce when he came through our area. Awesome, I was taken away. I'm learning wondering where the lions are as we speak. Only thing I can't get over is how ugly the guitar strap is..
great stumble here! I heard this on Q when it aired last year, hoped his opening song in the studio would be THIS one, then hit the ceiling singing dancing and crying through it, while writing to Q and Bruce in a flurry of ecstatic words, which was announced the following day as the"Letter of the Day". Whew, such fury and love.
One of the greatest, poetic songwriters of our time. One of my favorite songs of Bruce's and the f**kin' thing has no rhymes except the chorus. God Bless the vessel Bruce Cockburn for bringing such beauty into our lives.
Pat & Carlos have good company. Bruce was playing Linda's guitars before any of them. He moved on to her guitars when Jean Larrivee stopped hand building instruments himself.
@salm37 It is important to note not just that the guitar was made by Linda Manzer, but also to understand that this is a baritone guitar, not a standard six string acoustic. At the time he had this guitar made, Linda was in the $5-6000 range - today she starts closer to $18,000 and seems to be more interested in making art than instruments. I would argue that the best acoustic guitar available today from a builder is a McKnight - made to play, not to look at.
@salm37 Just go to mcknightguitars-dot-com -- he is building guitars that sound amazing - I played two at the recent Montreal guitar show - and he is a really wonderful man who cares to produce instruments with stunning tonality.
@confretti It's not a baritone guitar, fyi. It's a standard guitar, which he's had since like '89. He has a baritone guitar, but it's not made by Manzer. Forget the maker-- some Ontario builder.
So powerful! This song led me to find what he was feeling when he wrote it...and let me tell ya'll... The Friends of Dean Martinez will take you there fo sho! Wierd and wacky wonderful stuff. Love you Bruce!

Bruce is a modern prophet, sometimes, a lot sad to say, rejected by organised "church" but has a message for us all

This comment has received too many negative votes show
I was wondering why it was such a low rating, that is until I heard him sing, not so much the singing but the lyrics.
