Thanks for the video. I think what You do is a good thing and the fact that You do it without profiting yourself makes it even better. But I think that You shouldn't spare all the details in this very american way of telling Europe's story, e.g. these bunch of people as You call the HRE of German Nations where coherent to the Holy Chair in Rome as they defended it and as the German Emperor was crowned in Aachen by approval of the pope. That is important for understanding middle european history
these videos are awesome!!!!!! you just helped me completely study for my IB european history exam!! I feel so prepared, thank you thank you thank you!!!
great history vids. Your French Revolution overview saved me before the test. Wish you would make the next ones on WWI and WWII which I'm studying in history.
I love your videos and would love to see more. I hope you finish off the series of the French Revolution and the eventual downfall of Napoleon.
I have one correction to make. The UK is the "United Kingdom of great Britain and Northern Ireland" not all of Ireland. The northern eastern part of Ireland including smaller islands are part of the UK. The north eastern part of Ireland has a land border which is Shared with the republic of Ireland.
@capoeira102 In the early 1800s, it was the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. The Republic of Ireland didn't get its independence until the 20th century (causing the UK to change to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland).
Unlike Napoleon and his continental counterparts, Great Britain, at that time, rarely got involved in continental contests and concentrated on those territories that were very difficult to access by land, and could be effectively defended from its European counterparts, with the Navy. British India, for example, which was keenly sought after by Napoleon and his to be Russian allies, before a spectacular falling out, in 1812.
@khanacademy The battle of the Nile was also a means to degrade the French navy, so that France was less able to invade Great Britain, and was probably a significant factor in the British victory in the battle of Trafalgar, in 1805. This tactic was repeated in WW2 after France fell to the Nazis when the British made a preemptive strike on the French navy, anchored off French Algeria, so as to deprive the Nazis of a navy with which to invade Great Britain.
i love 18th century-early 19th century history... especially the napoleonic wars. khan academy will be my homepage for a long long time now!
