  • hoooooowwwww did you get the screws off the bottom of the throttle body out?? i can't get anything to fit in there and i'm scared of stripping the screws...

  • The valve cover I believe is around 7.2 lb/ft. You really just want to tighten down on it snugly. It shouldn't leak at that level. Don't tighten to the point where it could snap off.

  • @tuyenn10, Install the throttle body, torque the mounting nuts and bolts to 22 N·m (16 lb-ft). Intake manifold, torque the nuts and bolts to 12 N·m (8.7 lb-ft). Install the IAT sensor; torque it to 18 N·m (13 lb-ft). Install the boost plate; torque the bolts to 12 N·m (8.7 lb-ft).

Install the PCV hose. EGR valve with a new gasket, torque the mounting nuts to 22 N·m (16 lb-ft).

These settings are from Honda's EGR Port Cloging Service Bulletin 99-085.

  • @derrickb1974 the torque for the 4 bolts of the valve cover to the engine is 16 lb-ft?

  • @derrickb1974 what is the torque for the 5 bolts holding down the valve cover to the engine , 10 bolts total cause 5 on each valve cover. thanks

  • hi derrickb1974, i have 98 honda accord lxv6 which is car, what is the torque for the bolts thanks for the awesome video. name is tom

  • thx! very helpful! my aunts 98 ex coupe needs this done to it

  • Thank you for the video and the help.

  • Thanks for the video. My cel just came on and I replaced the egr valve but didnt do the job. I need a egr port cleaning. thanks again dude, now I have an idea on what to look for.

  • @stryderdoo, sorry for the delay. Glad I could help or at least give you a direction to go. Good luck.

  • This is the best video I've found for changing the valve cover gaskets on a v6. Does anybody know a good video for removing the air-intake manifold so that I can access the valve covers?

  • @akenney1979, look at the pt 1 of my 2 videos. I put a link to a video on how to removed the manifold. Very simple to do. Good luck. Thanks for the kinds words about my video.

  • Outstanding work man. I need to do this to my 03 v6. Leaking from the back. Any advice? I'm not paying 400 bucks to have someone do it

  • @CivSi02, I understand about the $400. I saved close to $500 cleaning the EGR port and changing the valve cover gaskets myself. If your rear gasket is leaking, then sure, do it yourself if you are mechanically inclined somewhat. This was not a hard job at all, just have to take your time and change it yourself. The Fel-Pro complete gasket set I bought was under $40. The Carb Choke cleaner was around $5. Took a Sat and changed it. It took me longer because I took video and still shots.

  • Well done! Thank you for the info. I need to do this with my car, too.

  • @EZMiles, you should do it if possible. Save yourself some money and do it yourself. Dealer wanted $175 to change both gaskets and $350-375 for EGR port cleaning which was easier than changing the gaskets. You have to remove the intake manifold to get to the valve cover the same way if you clean the EGR port, but they charge half as much to change the gaskets but it is more labor. What a rip off. Saved close to $500 doing it myself including parts. Labor is the killer at the dealer usually.
