  • Why did you cut it off on the end?!

  • I actually like the new one better, and I'm a lifelong Jeopardy fan.

  • @mphlohi But the note is too high for teenagers.

  • In my opinion, this sound was too much. We have the new Jeopardy fill in sound because the writers thout that we hear that sound a lot so it made sense that we have a new sound.

  • show's still amazing

  • Jeopardy sux hell now!

  • Personally, I think that there are a lot of things that "Jeopardy!" should have kept for its 25th anniversary! The original board fill sound effect... the practice of changing the set colors for the Double and Final Jeopardy rounds... the consolation prizes for the second and third place contestants... Oh, dear me! All these things were so classic, they should have been carried over into today's "Jeopardy!" SHAME ON YOU, SONY PICTURES! YOU'VE RUINED A CLASSIC MERV GRIFFIN GAME SHOW!!!

  • @Seth62392 What I think Jeopardy should've done for the 25th anniversary was keep the old board fill sound but bring back popping in the dollar values on the Double Jeopardy board, keep the swooshing sound at the top of the show, the set turning red in Double Jeopardy, and the theme music and think music left alone until Season 27.

  • The new sound is fine, but I have no idea what would make them take away the old sound. What on Earth was wrong with it?

  • I sort of still miss it, but I may later look back at the current board sound that represents the "late Trebek era" of Jeopardy.

  • i miss that sound...and i'm only 17. I knew they were missing something :(

  • 23, the sound goes off in 23 beeps. I counted, and Jeapordy should've kept the sound. Also, good selection music for the megaman hack(if someone already had it now) for the weapon selection with the metal slug formula. See if it's compatible, later.

  • @jarvisbrodiea1 The swooshing sound effect was used with the grid set. It was dropped altogether midway into season 13 when the sushi bar set was first used. However the swooshing sound was put back into use from midway into season 18 until the end of season 24

  • When they took away the fill in beeping sound, they took away part of Jeopardy! Really, look at the show. It's still Jeopardy, but it's been going downhill since its 25th season.

  • @U2SaxFan

And now, if you go to kingskip98's account, you can now go watch the episode that started it all.

  • Also RIP kirbykirbykirby(dot)com with my favorite cartoon; the site was completely redesigned only to promote Kirby Super Star Ultra close to that same date when Jeopardy's 25th season began.

  • The first time they played the new fill sound, I almost had a brain aneurysm.

  • i'll take bear stuff for $200 alex!

  • i like the new fill board sound, but i think this is one of jeopardy's trademarks

  • I miss this sound clip!!!!!! Jeopardy needs to bring it back!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • It funny how they scrapped this board fill music but when a Daily Double is found it's still the same piece of music it's always been.

  • I miss hearing this so much!! God Bless You!!!

  • I'm pissed with the new sounds. like DorvelTstewart said, Jeopardy without the board fill sound is like TPIR without the losing horn and losing music. and then Wheel of fortune threw out the free spin, which was one of the best "power-ups" in that show. the free spin was awesome!

  • When the hell did Wheel of Fortune throw out the Free Spin! How can they be so stupid!

  • They Brought the sound back but it's different for Season 26.

  • I like the new sound, but nothing beats the original.

  • @NebraskaFan77 they should've kept this one though!

  • @NebraskaFan77 they should've retained this one. The current one sounds too new age

  • I think I might know one of the reasons why they got rid of it. I noticed that on the early episodes, Alex would be like "The Jeopardy! round, here we go!!" And then he would basically just 'let the sound play.' In later years when this sound played, he would usually just talk all the way through it, as if it weren't there.

  • They should've either just told him to allow the sound to play, or they should never have gotten rid of it to begin with!

  • I guess I should've seen this coming. After all, they got rid of it in the Double Jeopardy! round in 1998.

  • i agree with this video. game shows are becoming pretty bland these days.

  • I know right? and then people wonder why they don't last!

  • Jeopardy without the board fill sound would be like the Price Is Right without the losing horns - POINTLESS!

  • We ought to do a petition or something to the show to bring the board fill back.

  • Are the people at "Jeopardy!" really that stupid? They took away the trademark sound. Why would they do that? What made them think taking it away was a good idea?

    You'll regret this, "Jeopardy!"

  • and while we're at at. bring back the board fill for round 2 as well.

  • *sniff* :'(

  • For the past 24 years, we no longer using the board fill in sound for Jeopardy.

  • I am furious that 'Jeopardy!' decided to remove the iconic sound. However, I do believe that 'Jeopardy!' will have continued success since Trebek is still with the show.

  • BRING IT BACK!!!

  • Jeopardy is still not as progressive as Wheel Of Fortune. Compare an episode from 1976, 1985, 1993, 1999, and today, you'll notice alot of changes for each era. Only the Wheel hasn't changed that much (besides Inflation!).

  • When the sound effect was removed in round 2 in season 19, I knew its days were numbered. Now it's just nostalgia along with changing colors right before the commercial break into Double Jeopardy! along with the prizes for 2nd and 3rd place contestants.

  • It was removed for Double Jeopardy! in the middle of season 14 in 1998.

  • No!! What are you? Stupid? They just eliminated the board fill sound effect and I'm one of the many people who are sad to see it leave.

  • No he didn't.

  • If anyone had the idea to remove this sound, then they are idoits. They might've think it's annoying, but it's not. It's just a great sound to get fired up and excited about a round coming up. I hope those kind of guys will get fired, and I even hope for the old producers and/or new, great ones will take over.

  • New generation of people running it... it started 25 years ago.. all the people who made that sound and other things are all retiring... And a new generation is taking over.

  • I just wish they hadn't gotten the mics on the podiums. A friend of mine said that added character to the show.

And, yes, it is sad that this sound effect had to be eliminated. :(

  • Yeah, now that you mention it. The contestants are standing behind the lecterns most of the time. Do they really need the clip-on mics?

  • Yes. If there are mics on the lecterns, then the lapel mics are there for back up if the lectern mic fails.

  • They got rid of the lectern mics in 1997. And I personally think they should be brought back.

  • I miss this sound. Such a classic...

  • I already miss the sound of the popping of the dollar value figures in the board. That's what got me ready to play along at home.

  • Well, I still here it on gsn

  • Even in Art Fleming's Jeopardy, the board was never "just there". Its reveal always got some fanfare. The beeping is the fanfare for the gameboard on Alex Trebek's Jeopardy.

  • We're supposed to be celebrating traditions this season, not shunning them! Bring back the beeping!

  • I can't stop crying. When I first started watching "Jeopardy!" back in 1998, I used to imitate this sound. Now that it's gone, I can no longer do it. Board Fill sound, you will truly be missed.

  • Truth be told, the beeping was the whole point of having TV displays, later a video wall, rather than the pull-cards.

  • You and me both. I'm so disgusted by it I've completely stopped watching new games. They had lightning in a bottle, and they shattered it by not doing the beeping. It's as much a trademark on Jeopardy! as the losing horns are on The Price is Right.

  • They have to bring it back. The beeping is Jeopardy's way of saying "Let's get started!". It gets you psyched up for playing.

  • What I think would be cool is if someone made a recording of the board fill sound, managed to get on the show, and played the recording at the start of the Jeopardy round, as well as at the start of Double Jeopardy! It'd be interesting to see how everyone would react to it!

  • @DorvellTStewart how about turning the set red for the Double Jeopardy! and Final Jeopardy! rounds

  • I wonder if Jeopardy! is starting to become more quieter off the start of their programming now that we don't hear the sound at all... it sucks for me because I can no longer do funny stuff with my face since they took it away.

    --Mathew

  • I never understood why "The Price is Right" was so popular. After watching a few episodes, I discovered why: because it hasn't changed. The music, sound effects and games have stayed the same since the 70s, even after Bob Barker left.

The producers should stop feeling pressured to change/update Jeopardy. Remember: if it ain't broken, don't fix it.

  • About Price Is Right, They now have a new game... Gas Money. You can win a car and $10,000 in cash!

  • That's it.

    Only three sound effects left.

Final Jeopardy! clue reveal, Daily Double Reveal, and Time Expired.

And they took out the timpani in Think.

  • I never noticed it was gone.

  • They slowly phased it out. Note that it had been gone from Double Jeopardy! for several years.

  • That's a dumb theory. I don't even know what the hell you're thinking.

  • The first sound to go was the "Whoosh!" sound effect when the set was changed in 1991.

  • Which means the only sounds left are the Time's Up and End of Round. I have a feeling this is going to be a boring season for Jeopardy!

  • Comment removed

  • Same way I feel about the Price is Right. They kicked out the wrong models for no reason. I mean they must be high on marijuana or something to commit an act that sneaky.

  • there is still the daily double and final jeopardy sounds as well. I'm glad they haven't changed. Alex came to life when the board filled in. I don't know why they fixed something that wasn't broken, but now is broken.

  • They added an insipid main theme and and awful "Think!" theme and threw THIS out?

Seriously, it was bad enough that they quit doing it for Double Jeopardy, but not doing it at all? What the hell is wrong with them?

  • producers of jeopardy must be stuck on stupid or something. why would they take away one of the shows trademark sound.

  • That's an awesome way to put it my bro! They're probably as dumb as the ppl on TPiR who fired some of the newer models for nothing, save for two of them. Not only that, but they let the older ones continue. I mean they can't get any stupider!

  • Oh man. I'm gonna miss that sound effect.

  • That's why I don't watch Jeopardy! anymore (except for the old episodes, on occasion).

  • So let me see...even though Jeopardy! is still the same game it's been for almost 45 years now (tell me I'm wrong...I DARE ya), and is still popular, you don't watch because of one stupid sound effect.

    Priorities? What priorities?

  • (Sarcastically) Yeah. We don't watch because of one stupid sound effect. They had absolutely NO business removing it whatsoever. I mean what was the point of doing so?

  • @lklk90 Thank Sony for ruining Merv's Classic!

  • This is such a huge mistake. It's such an iconic part of the show.

  • Well at least Alex Trebek and Johnny Gilbert are still here.

  • What?! Why?! One of the last things from 1984 is gone!

  • Indeed, a dark day in Jeopardy's history. Shame really.

  • @rfrancis51284 2008 was the worst year for Jeopardy. Fucked up the theme, fucked up the think music, removed the board fill same. R.I.P. Trebek Jeopardy 1984-2008, 90s was the best.

  • @KingMacintosh: Actually, the new theme sounds good, and new board fill in sound. The only thing that was fucked up was the think music.

  • @ThePatrickinator Agreed. The think music stunk with the trumpet lead.

  • @ThePatrickinator Really, the old sound is good for being nostalgic. The new sound indicated the more modern, sleek world we're in. It's just cheesy compared to the current one used.
