They are not blank ammos, its an APC or a clearing barrel, it is used when you download your weapon, so that if you accidentally fire a round while downloading it the APC will prevent it to ricochet, thus eliminating damage to personnel

ozinco there are several varients of the .50 the barrett takes a .50BMG round which is equal to 12.7x99mm. furthermore the barrett isn't a sniper. its an anti material rifle. from what i've heard its against the geneva convention to shoot such a bullet at a human being. and the barrett's that you are refering to only come in .50BMG
