Hey budbud how ya doin? Do you know any where I can get the hpi roto start shaft from England as my paypal is not working and I can't find it anywhere in Britain cheers mate
Have you got anymore ideas on my savage because you are helping me out shitloads! Using YouTube on my iPhone so I can't for some unknown reason clik on usernames i've got a email addy that I dint mind putting on here it's 100% safe if you wanna do it that way
Are you a RCU member? Radio Control Universe.... My username there is BudBud. You can contact me through there as well. Or the Steel Soldiers Forums, 91W350 there as well. If you want to post your email, feel free and I can delete the message. 8)
I trailed the net to find a website or something but it's being updated? I'm kinda new to all this but I've got ideas, I dnt want the car to b on it's back wheels when I floor it so mayb adding a equal amount if weight to the front may help? Also what gearbox, clutch, brakes and linkages do you reccomend for that engine do u reccomend? Also how dya send private msgs? thanks for this it's nice to c people helping others
I cannot keep a three speed together behind these engines. I keep bending the 1st to second gear shifting pawls. Then the transmission hangs in second and never goes to first. I also had a lot of trouble with the final drive gears exploding on the three speeds, so I just run the newer style two speeds. The engine has enough power to make up the low gear loss and enough rpm to run the Savage beyond stability. I like to run 16/49 or 16/52 on Terra Pins and 17/47 or 18/47 on normal 5.5" tires.
I think you will fnd keeping the relatively high center of gravity Savage hard to keep from doing wheelies. I run the Savage XL clutches and I never had a problem with the stock linkages. I do buy the Golden Horizon throttle pivots though. I prefer the red fiber dual disc brakes or a strong-fast servo on the old style single fiber disc brake. I like to use the Futaba BLS451 or BLS452 for a throttle-brake servo,
Hey I've got a pretty much standard savage x n I need more power (who doesn't) I'm tempted to buy the picco.28 but the clockwork racing picco is feckin amazing so my questions how can I get one as I live in the uk and secondly what's the difference between standard and clockworks version?
He changes the timing for intake and exhaust, works on the flow through the crank. He also resets crank timing and port design. This engine was the easiest nitro engine I ever ran to keep in tune. I know he has customers around the world. Shipping would be a little higher. If you send me a personal message, I will give you his email address. He prefers to work on new engines, the customer sees the benefits longer. We used to send our engines to him, now you can buy a new Picco directly from him.
Byron's Gen 2 30 percent race fuel and that engine always ran cool. It very seldom hit 250 degrees. It was and is a very nice running engine. I gave it to my son and he is still stomping it at college.
That is the pull start Picco 28. It is not a stock one however, it has some crank, intake and exhaust timing. The crank has also been lightened. I am also running the turbo button and plug out of the truggy verion of this engine.
Tower Hobbies or the Hobby Shop in Junction City Kansas. I had three of these, two I did in white and one in red. They work pretty good, look for the MGT-LST2 sized truck bodies.
Not if it still has the 25 in it. They were a decent running engine, but nothing like this one has. Swap that engine out for a Picco 28 or a LRP 28 and get a decent pipe and your truck will be plenty snappy! Even the Hpi F4.6 will make a 25 leap pretty good. Thanks!
alot of people said the savage x was made for the f4.1 & f4.6 well i through a modded k4.6 HO with 45k rpm in the savage x and im still to this very day running the stock diffs..
That a lot of worrying over a couple of 25 dollar differentials. Just go to Ebay and buy a pair and forget it. I have been slowly switching mine over to the Flux differentials. If you have not broken a Savage differential, you are not running hard, not jumping, and staying on pretty smooth surfaces. What kills them is not so much the engine power as landing or cartwheeling under power or brakes. Of course, a stronger engine should give you more ground speed.....
Which do you prefer for overall bashing? The xl or the x? I have a x 4.6 rtr that I'm debating on adding some extended tvp's to and was wondering if it was worth it. Does it really make the truck that much more stable?
The XL jumps much smoother, is much more stable at speed. The X is much easier to wheelie with, turns sharper and is lighter. I really prefer the XL, but there is a lot of places the X is just easier to handle, like in an arcade or a mall... doing backflips off of walls or trees... They are both great trucks!
The location with the rock is Mushroom Rock State Park near Kanopolis, KS. The jumping area is the off road park at the Kanopolis Reservoir. I had run quite a bit at the off road or ATV park, but I thought people might enjoy the rocks too... about ten miles apart. Glen

I waws thinking about swapping moters in my sav x which do you think has more power
picco .28
or HPI .32 5.6
the displacement would be the advantage ?
FloridaSnookHunter 1 year ago
Picco of the three you named, the Axials are the same as the Hpi engines. If you are relatively new to the engine world, I would say LRP 30.

nice video...good editing...no shakey handed garbage!!
I'm getting a Savage 25 in the mail soon...should I expect anything near this power?

That's not really going to work. The 25 was made for a 4.1 engine. If you wan't a 4.6 of this quality, you'll need a totally nive drivetrain.

ok.

That because the Savage F4.6 X also had alloy diffs and atleast the F4.1 version has spider diffs.
