  • Sounds too tinny...

  • blimey Billie, where did it go?

  • I've always liked this, it's a pity about the recording.

  • her voice is like a tired child complaining sometimes but she is still a great singer - a touch of Randy Newman's speech impediment and style there too. Her CDs should be in dispensers along with tampax in co-ed dorms.

  • do you not like it? i mean i actually can't tell. you're saying she sounds like she's complaining childishly, and you're saying her CDs should be sold alongside tampons, but she's a great singer in your opinion. is that a 'you like her' or a 'she's not good'? like, i'm not trying to say anything, just curious as to what you mean. and when you say her CDs should be sold alongside tampons, does that mean they're cheap and bad, or that they should be made more available?

  • awesome

  • you guys need to explore RLJ she is awesome

  • @MrSilentstan

    awesome

  • Whoever picks the music for house is awsome!! I dont mean just here! Even when House was going in the hospital or Kutner and Amber died! The guy is totally perfect for this job!!!!!!!

  • This is such a great song....so sad but so full of happy remembrance as well...

  • oh wow i love this song it was also in the movie Little darlins with christy mcnichol matt dillon and tatum Oneal

  • Thumb Up for a House,heard it in 2nd episode.Love the song <3

  • Me too ^^ I heard it the first time at 'Dr.House' :D

  • i still have my original copy of this album and no matter how long I live, or where I've traveled to in my life, this is still a song that makes me cry. It is one of the most profoundly simple and perfect pieces of music I've ever owned. I'm glad I could be in the world with it.

  • @ssm3141 You summed it up. I'd love to do a movie based solely on this song.

  • @garymichael1950 It would be interesting, wouldn't it? I just happen to be a writer, and I can see, with you mentioning it, that it could be a wonderfully simple yet poignant piece of work. Very good idea.

  • @ssm3141 I gotta get this album again, so good

  • @rosemarymclaughlin I've still got my original copy and listen to you! You're like me. Still callin' it an album when everything's on CD now. Don't feel badly, though. I went to the library last year and asked the 'kid' behind the counter where the CARD CATALOGUE was!LOLOLOL 'It's all on computer, ma'ma,' the kid said to me without missing a beat!

  • @ssm3141 Thanks for the lovely comment! I just bought it again, I tried to buy the download but was not allowed, cannot wait til it arrives. I used to listen to this song and cry at the beauty of some things the ugliness of others....I remember she wrote the album when she was 16 or something ...........WOW what a genius,...............oh I'm off again

  • @rosemarymclaughlin Wow! Sixteen! I did not know this. What a talent that she would be able to bring grown folks to their knees with her musical truths. As simple as this tune is, I am only able to listen to it when I can handle the emotions. I remember everyone no longer living when I hear it. I see my grandmother, and uncles and cousins that died as children. I think of me being an unhappy child sitting at the window in much wonder. Yep, years, they do go by....

  • Beautiful song. Takes me back some years. Now gotta look up the House Episode.

  • absolutely love her voice. What a contrast from the guy she was once married to...Tom Waits. Would love to hear them do a duet. THAT would be something !!

  • This song was originally used for the Movie Soundtrack "Little darlings" 1980 Great song for a great movie :-)

  • Rauchen ist total ungesund :-]

  • I can see your reflection! LOL!

  • Did she really smoke?

  • @sptfgpn Rickie Lee is still Smokin'!

  • @nanderson1965 Thank you for that. She's naughty.

  • isnt this in st elmos fire?

  • sometimes people like Rikki come up with lyrics that stick in your mind, till the day you die!

  • How would you know you're still alive =/

  • Sounds like an old lighter and some bubbling going on in the background. Don't be afraid to use matches...it won't kill you. Thanks for taking the time to post the song between bongloads :)-

  • get a new lighter ffs

  • ROTFLMAO!

  • beautiful!!!!!!!!!!! thank you

  • isnt a segment of this, jazzed up, used as Dennis Miller bumper music?

  • This is one of my all-time favourite albums.

  • I remember dancing with my best friend many years ago...some memories will never be replaced.

  • I am curious about the origin of this song. The song has such a sad feel to it, that I always thought it might be about the day after the Friday that JFK was assassinated, especially with the line "grown ups" crying....

  • Little Darlings is what introduced me to this song. =3 Great movie.

  • @FruitsXBasketXCase "Ferris Whitney" walking in the field talking about love!

I just hope Hollywood doesn't ruin it w/ a remake & ruin everyone's memories (like they always do)

  • I sure hope they don't! The movie is timeless and untouchable.

  • its straight from the heart, love the feeling in this song

  • hermosa cancion ..... la pasaron el episodio 2 de la 1 era Temporada de Dr. house... :D excelente cancion

  • House has the best soundtrack!

  • This song was on House MD on Fox season 1, excellant song

  • i remember when this album came out. i had a friend who love me but as life was at that time wouldn't say it. i wonder where she is now. yes, years have gone by.

  • This is my all-time absolute favorite song. And Ricky Lee Jones is one of my two all-time favorite artists (the only other one I'd put up there is Joni Mitchell). So wonderful to see all of these videos of her posted on youtube- thank you everyone!!

  • on saturday afternoon in1963....I was born....thank you for the song abd I feel blessed x

  • yes, those years slipped off the table and out the door

the hour snowed in 1963. it did, and it did

  • Perfection. I've shamefully never listened to any other Rickie but this song is one of my all-time favourites..

  • Pour les français, cette chanson fait partie du film, "Nos 18 ans", la scène sous la pluie lorsqu'ils sont tous accroupis

  • c'est aussi passé dans la saison 1 de dr house. =)

  • Lovely song=)

  • It's a very touching song, you can listen and just drift away from everything and your soul is cosseted by the music.

  • whas watching house then heard this song and HAD to find it

  • this song has been one of my favorites for a long long time, and when i saw it on house, i got so happy!

  • Me too : D

  • @Dymondeyesz - Don't just limit yourself to this song, her entire debute is one of the best albums of all time and well worth finding on CD or MP3 format, you won't be disapointed. Acutally she has alot of music beyond her first album that is also top notch and worth seeking out, she has alot to say.

  • @Dymondeyesz I found the song the same way.

  • House - paternity played thsi!

  • Its also in "Alias" season 3 episode 1. Very good episode, by the way.

  • what is this song about?

  • i know this song from House MD. the second episode in season 1

  • actualy it was the fifth. One by Three Dog Night was played in the seccond.

  • Check out wikipedia or watch the episode again, this song is on 1x02 episode

  • acording to the fox website its in the fifth

  • I was named after Rickie-Lee Jones. My parents have all of her records (i mean actual vinyls) and I've grown up listening to and loving her music.

  • This was 'our song' when we met in 1979, and it still is. We've been married now nearly 25 years. Just as promised, many have gone by.

  • A beautiful song...I havent heard it in so long..always loved it.

  • I am a long-time Rickie fan. I bought her first album - this one - in 1979, the year it was released. I was sixteen and bought it because I thought she looked cool. I fell in love and have followed her ever since, seeing her live at places like Carnegie Hall and buying her releases. This song has always been my favorite. It is melancholic, but strikes such a truthful emotional tone that it is undeniable and gorgeous.

  • I heard this on House and had to find it

  • Same here:) An old 4 ep. house dvd i got from mcdonalds:D

  • i've adored rickie's voice since i was a baby and i love this song but what was it doing at the end of the House episode? apart from trying to make the director look cool and fill up cds.

  • when i heard this song for the first time, i fell in love with it immediately!

  • Rickie Lee being purely sweet, a rare gem.

  • I think Rickie's finest moment - quite unique - very special.

  • Beautiful, I responded with my cover version of this song. Thanks for putting this up, it's such a pleasure to listen to.
