Hmm..the actors/singers here are good, but the pace seems a bit rushed in my opinion. I've always felt that this song embodied more of a slow, steady beating of anger and disgust. Still while a bit too fast for my taste, they still did a good job, especially seeing as how this is a high school production.
The beggars acting isn't that good I'm sry to say. I'm talking about the people who are standing up. They look poor when beggars who need to act like they are struggling to even stand up or can't bearly walk. I've never seen the show but now I know what not to do. Anyway the rest was good
vocals are pretty good....a bit of pitch issues, but good. I do want to know why the students aren't begging, though...not even when they say 'see our children fed, etc'. Maybe that's just how our director interpreted, though... ^_^ I had fun in that musical, I hope they all did too!
whew... Enjolras, you were a bit flat without a whole lot of emotion. Gavroche is awesome along with Marius. Eponine was great with the book upside down. ha!
I can't believe what people will argue over! This or that, it is a wonderful musical and I applaud this HIGH SCHOOL for doing it. You have to have a pretty talented group of kids to pull this one off! Bravo!
cant u guys get it into your heads, that a show based on a french book was sucesfully performed in London, before america tried to perform it, the world doesnt revolve around american you know. also, it is much better in the west end, because the english actors can use their accents to distinguish between the poor and the upper class, which plays a major role in the musical!
Well I Have something to tell you Les Mis is based on a book a a FRENCH revolution and has nothing to do with england at all and is based on the book by Victor Hugo who is French so really i dont understand y u r making a bug fuss about it being a british shopw when it gets all its origins from France Viva La France
shouldn't we celebrate and enjoy the interpretations of this great broadway show. plus, this is a high school, not broadway. do you have any videos to back urs up?
and gavroche wasn't that bad. he just wasn't very excitful
This show was a london musical way before it was allowed into the substandard performance that is broadway, please out of respect for this incredible musical don't categorize it with anything that comes from america, because it was and is and will always be a stunning creation of the London Theatre in England, it is our longest running and best loved musical. please don't take that away from us by calling it broadway
But it IS a broadway show... and they were using the US arrangment (MTI).... I'm pretty sure this american school tried to imitate the broadway show, not the London cast. While the london show IS great,
They may have been imitating the broadway show. i was merely pointing out that the London Musical is the original. and that Les Miserables as a musical is still first and foremost a british show... just like wicked will always be american.. Or war and peace will be russian, I was merely asking that you respect the national identity of this musical
actually, if you wanna get really technical about it, it originated as a Frech show in Paris, so acutally, its the Londoners who changed it up; not Broadway.
If you insist on being technically correct, the French show was a total flop. The composers then took their concept album to an English producer, Camaron Macintosh who recognised its potential, had it translated into English, directed by Shakesperian director Trevor Nunn. Then and ONLY THEN did it become a true success. Anyway, that is all besides the point, THIS production is damn good considering its done by kids.
it still started in france... i think there was a comment before about "i hate how broadway ruined the original london show blah blah blah" and then someone said, "well london blah blah blah" so i was like, "umm... the french... question mark" just trying to bring humor into an online fight :)
it's true that the french did the show first, nevertheless, the broadway cast still sucked, no matter who did it before them and how good they were...
then you haven't seen my high school do this play...we one upped them on acting, props, lights and vocals! They rushed, had no breath support, and had major pitch issues...wow, rereading that comment, I sound snotty, but it's true. we worked our butts off and it payed off. I should upload ours when we get the DVDs done.
It sounds a bit rushed at the beginning, but otherwise good. (no offence about the rushing, but it sounds like your orchestra randomly decided to speed up and the poor chorus had to catch up)
i didn't say ANYTHING about the performance of the pit. I think they did a very professional job. i said the ARRANGEMENT wasn't to my likings. Get that through your head.
Gavrouche was pretty good. I just wish he could like be more active. somewhat. haha.
its kinda stinks that their aren't enough males. The chorus didn't have a lot of basses
Love it! :D I saw a middle school performance today, and though there were a few highlights, it just wasn't... yeah.

I really don't think high schools should do this play.
Unless they are very wealthy. Otherwise it just seems shitty.

Plus your Eponine has a fantastic voice.

how do you know they imitated anyone? maybe they just looked at the text and used their brains!

I don't really see why you have to bound it to that certain area. And they were trying to imitate the broadway show.

I apologize. I believe in a more free form of art, not a nationally segregated one. So lets agree to disagree.
