@danielholland89 The way "jackpot" payouts work is you can take a "lump sum" cash payment which is half the jackpot and pay taxes on that or take the full amount over 20 years. It works that way because you are actually winning an annuity worth $14 million not $14 million. You will come out ahead a lot more in your pocket taking it over 20 years.
