Listen to the recording from the album "Suck On This", and it's easier to hear the chromatic fall on the E-string. He used to play this song more slowly in the early days.
Notice that in this video, I am playing the riff "correctly", whereas in the original video of me playing it at full-speed I was substituting ghost notes for the A-Ab-G "falling notes". Les plays it both ways, sometimes a mix of the two, depending partly on which bass he's playing and how fast he's playing the riff.
This is the right way of playing Tommy the Cat. Well done.

whatttt whenever i watch him live he mutes the E. Ill have to listen to recording more closely. maybe ill find this way better
