Anyone ever told you "if you don't have something nice to say don't say it at all?" Girls: keep up the hard work, you are getting better every year, I am so proud of all that you have accomplished in improving this team. Pay no attention to those that want to be negative and just continue to do what you are doing. Remember there are people out there who support you, just keep working. You are great!
I guess someone forgot to teach you how to treat others how you want to be treated. I was just trying to stand up for these girls. They are my friends and they work really hard all year to just be the best that they can be. Someone put this video up so that their friends and family could see it, not for a critique.
As a member of this twirling line, I am amazed that people take the time to write such cruel comments about others. I agree this performance is mediocre at best. So what? I have been twirling since I was 3 in the USTA organization. Is this what I did as a solo twirler? No. I did spin doubles, double walkovers, 4 or 5 spins. Just because I performed this routine does it mean I am a bad twirler? You can make your own judgment as I am not going to comment on my own abilities.
There are some important factors at hand here. For one, this is a combination of very different styles and abilities it is very hard to choreograph a routine for people so different. From experience it is also hard to do a spin double in 2 inch heels. Try it, put on some heels and go outside on pavement, or grass, and see what tricks you are able to do. Now I am not making excuses I am just stating some facts. I would not call this line World Class twirlers.
However there are 2 very accomplished twirlers hidden in the bunch. When you are on a team you are only as good as your weakest link. That is what is shown here. Was I bored doing two spins all the time when I have the ability to do 5? OF COURSE! However, I loved the girls and performing so I made that decision. I could have gone to another school and performed as a soloist so that I could show off my own abilities but I chose Purdue for academics first.
Twirling was just an extra bonus. Purdue may overstate the abilities of its twirlers, well yes they do, but they are proud of their performers and what to show it. They also want to give those solo twirlers and team members that are good twirlers some credit. Politics play a huge role in the solo tryouts but this is starting to change. Team tryouts and the team for the year is based on what they have to work with.
If 8 very advanced twirlers would tryout then they would have an awesome team. To those mothers that are out there, I understand that you want your daughter to twirl up to her ability, so did my mom, you spent all these years practicing and traveling to competitions, you daughter deserves all that is available to her. Just keep in mind that college is about getting an education too and your daughter should get the best of both worlds.

I agree, their performances were mediocre at best, however, the golden girl quit and was replaced by the girl in black - the NEW 2008 golden girl IS an awesome twirler and was Miss Majorette of America. You will see a BIG improvement next year!
I guess you haven't seen these girls compete. I have. Purdue has always had some of the best twirlers in the world. I don't know what organization you happen to be with but the NBTA was not founded with the intent to be rude to other twirlers. I know the feature twirlers of Purdue and I know 2 of the girls on the line. I'm proud of them and I'd be proud if my daughter was on that line. I'm sad to see that the twirling world has people in it that are so unkind to other twirlers. Jealousy.
What could yuhang possibly be jealous of? I've seen the purdue twirlers compete and trust me, they're weak and overrated. They do simple exhanges and basic connecting materal. I saw nothing to be jealous of and am glad my daughter is looking to twirl elsewhere!
What the world could use is less immature, critical children like yourself. Twirlmom is entitled to her opinion and I have to agree with her. I've been to a few Purdue games and have watched the twirlers and was very shocked at how basic their twirling is. That's all fine and good, but they shouldn't call themselves the best twirlers in the country if they are going to do mediocre material! Obviously you are influenced by their fluff, as is 99% of the crowd. Now, isn't it past your bedtime?
Because someone speaks her mind she is a high-maintenance ho-bag? We are ALL entitled to our opinion on this subject and name calling just shows your lack of class. I hope you've grown up since your last post.
It is well known in the twirling world that Purdue's twirlers are highly over-rated. You have to be pretty bad for them to cut you. It's also well known that it's very political and the best twirler(s) will not always get a feature spot. They can try all they want to publicize themselves as the best twirlers in the country, but way too many people know better and get a chuckle out of their arrogance. I'd be embarrassed if my daughter was on that line.

Well I'm glad I'm not you're daughter. I pity the girl with a mom with such useless hatred. Bitch.
It's a pity your daughter will grow up to be like you. The world could use a little less high-maintenance ho-bags.

I think none of them are the 4 feature twirlers (Golden Girl, Girl in Black and Silver Twins)
I too thought Purdue's twirlers (even regular line) would be fair superior to what I see here. *tsk*

I thought Purdue's twirlers were supposed to be so good? Any monkey can do two spins!
