@BlahArmy yes, but just as Ecclesiastes says everything is meaningless without god, you see you can have work, passion etc but what does it all count for when you die, nothing, will you just continue to live your proud but sad life, why do you think that as we get older we are filled with regret, because we are never satisfied
it's my first time to catch you on you tube. i've been missing much :)
true, it's both practice and heavenly inspiration to play like you do. i hope someday i can arrange one or two songs the way you do. "as the deer" is fabulous.
by the way, what strings do you use? i love the snarl of the bass strings. and the 3rd string, is it coated?
I started studying Guitar at the age of 7, I am now 64, I've played professionally for well over 40 years, Studio Musician for three major recording studios, played with such names as the Rolling Stones, Tiny Tim, Mallissa Manchester, Jimmy Durante, etc. etc., I too have a lot of talent,
how would you guys feel if I said I owe my talent to Satan?
You see it goes two ways, it is because of much practice, not some spook in the sky.
@andrascome i wouldnt deny that one. im a christian but before i was a christian i was into the heavy metal scene. and i was on my way to becoming a music producer i was gonna be going to school for that. well i had things happen in my life that eventually led to my conversion but i remember talking out loud to my self and i said the only way i will not give my life to God is if i somehow became amazingly good at music, got in a band became a producer, and pretty much did what i always wanted...
@andrascome what i always wanted...well although i was good at music, i wasnt suuper good like say eddy van halen good. well the next day i was 5 string guitar sweeping and i couldnt do that before, i practically tripled my performance over night. well i got a little scared becuase i knew what was going on, i heard of people doing stuff like that, and how they ended up getting stick in the music scene and how the devil didnt want them to leave and they ended up not living a very good life...
@andrascome ...they were rich and all but they still wanted to leave. it was kindof like selling there soul to the devil. well i prayed that day and repented, my talent droped, i still play guitar and it has increased but not supernaturally increased. so ya you might owe your talent to satan, God probally gave you that talent in the first place and then it got perverted.
@pyrofreak8 I admit that the way you think is very beautiful, it certainly provide you a lot of confort and I have no doubt it can be very attractive to others because it looks mysterious and grand. But yes reality is much more boring I give you that. Our parents genetically transmitted us some kind of random mix of their personality when the fusion of the sperm and the ovul happened. Also education and experience has a lot to do, then work, then practice, then passion
@andrascome Well first off, I see much immaturity in your comment. Regardless of your age, and your experience and knowledge you still seem to lack character, not as a Christian, but as a person.
But that aside, the "spook in the sky" as you put him, gave you talent, with a purpose. And if you think, "Well why didnt he reveal it to me years ago?" Well guess what, he may be revealing it to you now.
@andrascome You owe your talent to God himself. Because without those hands, and that great musical brain you have, you could never play for him in the first place.
@andrascome God gives us talents, its out job to use them, pratice is apart of that, but its like for instance, some people will never be able to play guitar because they arent musically talented but they might be amazing at fixing and building things, etc somepopel are good at both, some people have lots of talents others have a few but they are all God given.
Excellent interpretation and chord voicing !!!!A ++++++ By the way Eli get the transcript because You Will Be Playing It In Heaven. Blessing to you and the family !!!!
google on "Civilla Martin", who wrote the song . . . . Charles Gabriel wrote the music . . . . and the song was really made "famous" during the Billy Graham crusades of the late 50's and early 60's . . . .it is, for my money, one of the truly great ones
You are absolutely the best. I had tears in my eyes listening to you play this song. It is really wonderful to see someone play a Christian song like this. Can you plase share the tabs or direct me to where I can find music like this?
I never envisioned "Sparrow" this way. It tranfers well. What is your instrument? I am lackey to a Rafael de Cardoba, Rio. It plays itself and far exceeds my input. I wish you would re-record "As The Dear". You tolerated too many zings and it is one of my favorites. Forgive such brutality. Understand it is out of the sheer enjoyment of it.

His great playing is not because of a man in the sky with a long white beard sitting on a chair and wearing sandals..
His talent is due to his practicing, and much studying.
