The recommended graphics for my card are all high yet I can't even play it on lowest settings while I can play crysis at 40fps. Terrible game.

The reason you can't save the game without signing into window's live is due to high pirating risk. This game is one of the most pirated games out there, along with a lot of other Windows Live titles.

I have to tone the graphics down on my pc until I get a better computer, but even with the toned down settings it still looks better than the console versions and it's easier to control when on-foot with mouse/keyboard. Driving controls aren't too bad, though they are a little better with gamepad.

omg rockstar sucks at making pc ports, after playing it on pc a lot i experienced all kinds of issues and u cant enjoy the game at once, rockstar dont do enough and they havent made red dead redemption for pc or LA noire yet, which sucks, they are ditching us pc gamers totally

You could run the game but not on max settings, Remember you will need a very good PC to have an enjoyable expeience playing this game, trust me I know, I still can't afford a good enough PC yet.

I really don't like this review, the reviewer is overly sensitive and touchy- basically kind of a bitch which effects his review negatively. He dedicated well over half of the review just bitching, while throwing in the occasional positive insight here and there. GTA IV is still a great game in which i find interacting with the AI a lot of fun and basically the whole point of the GTA series. Of course its not perfect and could use some hardware optimizations but is over all a great game.

even withthe newest patch 1.0.4.0 the game still remains broken.

this is what happens when a game company just dumps a console game into pc instead of building it from the ground up and OPTIMIZING the code for the Computer.

I miss the days when Rockstars PC ports were epic. GTA 3 VICE, San Andreas.

Once they teamed with windows it was fucked.

It inherited Microsofts crashtastic legacy.

As the reviewer says Games for windows live SUCKS. You cant even back up your own saves.

It isnt a shitty game, just dumped from the consoles when it should have been optimised for the pc. especially pcs with more than 1 processor. thats one reason why the memory leaks. Mine is a quadcore and it only uses 1 core. and theres no SLI Support I think Rockstar was giving us the old "blast processing story"

when they told us the higher settings are for next gen machines.

yep they did it with Bully Scholarship Edition too. Directly Dumped the console versions a year later.  When you go into the file folder you can still even see the x360 and ps3 load files.

It saddened me cos i was used to GTA being better on the pc. Instead it runs sluggish never a steady framerate even on my quadcore PC. It was never optimised. And if it was was done poorly.

I hope in their next venture Rockstar stays as far from Microsoft and Games for Windows Live that they can.

Your review is well written, but your voice is flat - it sounds like you are reading from a script rather than spontaneously critquing (as it should sound, to stop people from falling asleep - even when you are reading from a script).

A patch for this game came out about a month ago. I have NOT seen a hacker online since then... only 1 actually. And they are making another patch. So i think the multiplayer is saved :)

@sof2finchy It wasn't that bad, to be honest it was very sucessful for its time. But now modern gamers will find it a very dull game and be unsatisfied by the bad graphics, regular glitches and average voice acting. So in some ways you are correct.

yes you can switch between a controller keyboard and mouse durring the game. I use a controller durring driving.

this guy shouldve played gttaiv a little more before the review. half of his arguments are pointless. u can use sleep mode to keep people from constantly calling your phone, and u can use a taxi and skip the drive to save time if u dont want to drive to and from locations. i mean come on they are all over the city, and most of the bugs have been fixed since the last patch. no excuse for this crappy review.

GTA 4 is a great game for the PC. However, I do agree that the developers should have spent more time ironing out the bugs before it's release.  One bug the reviewer forgot to mention is the controller issue. Some people have noticed that their usb controller would not be reconized by the game. Those who were fortunate enough to get their controller to work are forced to settle for the Xbox 360 controller layout which can make for some strange auto assigned butoon layouts.

well you gotta remember how upgraded ppls computers are, im ordering the new aleinware m17x with intels greatest quad core proccessor 8gb of ram (after i buy to expensive on site) and dual nvidia cards in sli mode (i ferget which mmodel of cards) plus with 1200p graphics it should run fine not only that about ur problems have u tried running a registry cleaner? the reason its freezing is because either not enough ram or bad registy, try registy booster 2 it works and message mor the key for it

Maybe you haven't read what the communities are saying. As I pointed out, forums are filled with posts by people who have experienced bugs and glitches.

Specs are AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ Windsor / EVGA GeForce 9800 GTX 512MB (latest drivers) / ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe AM2 NVIDIA nForce 570 SLI / 2GB DDR2 SDRAM - it's not new but it doesn't suck.

r* always does contravetial stuff because it sells first off second i think they just like to piss off politicians and also the console does not play that good normally it does around 30fps but when you get into a big gun battle i notice 15-20 fps but this is a guess also there are rumors of the downloadable content coming to pc

The 30fps fits the GTA games much better than the 60fps does, I have played the PC versions of all GTA games and they look much better but 30fps fits it the most, since it gives it kind of like a cinematic feel.

Also, the framerate on the console versions never goes below 25fps (which is still very playable since it's not a FPS), not even on the PS3 version.

wow. I wasn't expecting that. At first I was pissed cause you tended to lean on all the bugs, instead of the gameplay, but then you brought upon some good arguments. I have to admit I love this game so much. So much infact I waited 6 long months to play it exclusevely on pc. I also spent 106 hours getting 100% completetion and admiring Liberty City. I never had any probs getting it to run fine. However, It loses points when I started multiplayer. It's so uneven and broken. Youre right about that
