Your point about the Olympics is a good one. I did not grow up a fan of football (soccer), but the World Cup is such a wonderful event you cannot help buy engage in the energy. Thanks for commenting.
MMA is brutal, but so is life. Wresting, for all its theater is still as real as Broadway. I agree with your logic. I also enjoy MMA, and real martial art competitions, for the reasons you gave. By this same logic I enjoy the Olympics, with all it's potential problems, because it is largely symbolic of cooperation, peaceful competition, and personal (or team) excellence.
I'm a huge mma fan...but I would rather my son watch wrestling then mma....and you
have a black president and you're still crying race....the color of your skin means nothing these days thats what you should be teaching your son. Give your kid some hope and maybe he won't be stuck in "urban" america.....unreal
@alexmilnes Hello, you either you have a strange sense of humor or did not watch my video. My point is that pro wrestling in the past and today is based in outdated concepts of race, ethnicity, and gender. MMA is entirely about merit and performance. Point two the US President is mixed race. His mother and your mother are likely the same race. Lastly, my son does not need hope. He need a firm set of timeless values and a clear understand of his self worth. Thanks for taking the time to write.
@abdullahthebutcher i am a huge wrestling fan and some of my favorite wrestlers were black....jyd and i am a fan of your namesake...thats how i got here...but anyways my point was not based on your son needing hope....you sound like a smart man....my point is based on the typical black american who blmaes society for their problems. The problem lies with the black man themselves who portray themselves as gangsters and such that young black kids idolize.
@alexmilnes and...I would also recommend letting your son watch wrestling....would you rather mtv???? I think allowing your son to be a wrestling fan would be a healthy upbringing. Would you rather him hang out with a wrestling fan....or a 50 cent fan...give your head a shake
@alexmilnes Neither is acceptable or relevant. MTV is definitely worse. We do not have cable in our home to avoid noise. We use Netflix streaming and DVDs. I just got a great DVD for my son -- The Pluto Files. The host is a great role model. To answer your question I would pick the wrestling fan. But it the choice is a fan of the UFC or WWE. I pick the UFC.
@alexmilnes You should read my book Cultural & Economic Revitalization -- A Five Step Reference to Overcoming Black Failure. It is 11 years old, but still has some relevant points. You talk like an expert on African Americans. Are you one? How many do you know well? Your youtube profile says you live in Canada. Please tell me you are not drawing all these broad conclusions based on media reports?
@alexmilnes I don't. Just like you knew nothing about me when you sent your first message to me making a huge number of gross assumptions about my values and life outlook that were way off target. I appreciate the discussion and your time.
