Only when you go away from being tamil, the chaos you are seeing happens. Being Indian, whats in there? It doesn't contribute any goodness. Just some security and false patriotism. I am safer in USA than in Karnataka and Mumbai. As long as I was inside Tamilnadu, I did not know how wonderful Tamil are.Go to any part of India, say you are from TamilNadu, everyone would greatly trust you. Somehow we all carry that unique genuine in us. Say you are from other state, you'll know how people react!

If we lived by states then India would not be called India... each state would be referred to by it's name. There would be different countries. If you are from Tamil Nadu, then I would say congratulations - but don't forget, you are also from India. From a global view not many will ask you about your state, they will ask you your nationality. If you are safe in the US then maybe you shouldn't comment on India as a whole.

Hey simple987, Nee mattum poi saavu! Tamil is not just language, its a way of living. Its not that easy to live tamil. The down to earth attitude comes only when you live as Tamil with its values. Other languages are just communication tools to get the earthly things like money and getting to know others etc.. Its easy to be simple987. You exist, we live. You love whats earth. We are beyond. Thats why rahman music touches the soul. Tamil alone would let others convert to find themself!

He is especially important to us Tamils because his heart and soul is in Chennai and that's where he started his career and where he has composed his best music.. usually Tamils leave their identity behind but ARR never turns his backs on us.. we are so proud that he always knows his roots

well i've seen it many a time- they're often too insecure with their identity and like to adopt North Indian or foreign cultures as their own- instead of accepting themselves as proud Tamilians and their unique south indian looks for example, they'll go to any lengths to whiten themselves to look north indian or pick a fair skinned person to marry to compensate for their insecurity.. sad but true

The true identity of Tamil Nadu is in its villages and they have not lost their identity in a long time. I personally think, that its part of the reason most of Tamil Nadu is still unimproved. But hey, they love being who they are and that's good.
