i agree with all the comments about dynamics, but i don't think this should neccessarily be played slower. it's more of a rubato piece, so it doesn't have to be played at a particular, strict tempo
i love your interpretation, and i wish i could play as beautifully as you!
I'm studying this piece right now and I've often wondered if I'm playing it too fast, but I guess it does depend on how you interpret it. But I do love the tempo you've taken, and it's very similar if not exactly how I like to play it. You play beautifully and I'm glad your video was the first to come up after I searched this song, haha. ;)
A beautiful performance - I wish I'd been there to see you play it live! As for tempo, the way you play it feels absolutely right to me. I've heard other, slower performances on youtube, and if it's too slow, it can drag a bit, and you lose the flowing undulation of the arpeggios. I'm sure you're playing it at a tempo that really makes the flute sing for you - it shows. Well done!
I just love this piece....it makes me wana cry!! u play it amazingly!! i am doing a competition in a couple weeks and part of my recital is this piece. Wish me luck!!! A def 5 stars for you. your amazing :)
i just had to learn that but i didn't pay that nearly as well. oh well... i have only been playing for 4 year and am only 15 so i really don't expect to be that good hahaha
wow, that's a beautiful tone. But my teacher told me to play it alot slower than that. She told me that this pieces displays its beauty better if played slower. but who knows~ everybody has their own style! ;D
you are absolutely right, everyone should have their own style and a reason to back up their musical decision. My teacher Jeff Khaner and Carol Wincenc (Juilliard) are very different from each other, but they really encourage each and everyone of their students to have their musical ideas. Mr. Khaner, plays it much faster in his recording. Galway's sound is very glorious...hehe. =)
that's a very good question! I did the "ralls", but it's really subtle, since it's only the beginning of the piece. I felt that less is more. (the ones in the end are more...) Thank you for asking!
this is gorgeous :) your tone is beautiful...

you can do a lot more dynamics, especially on the softer piano parts

@robbieliin So you seem to be suggesting more dynamics here, have I got that right?
